  1. I live about 5 miles from the epicenter. Not to make light of anyone who actually sustained damage but it was pretty mild by LA-native standards. On the other hand, we lost half a tree to the rain and wind. The storm’s not bad out here in Ventura but my wife pointed out that we don’t usually get this much rain when the trees are in full bloom (thanks to the extra rain earlier in the year). We’re probably going to see a lot more snapped branches in the months to come. Strange days indeed…

  2. The PAiA Stringz n Thingz was all we could afford in my first cover band. We had a strangely good time with it (it did a mean “I Ran” if I recall correctly) - all we had to compare it to was a Magnus chord organ so it was a pretty low bar. A friend built it just for kicks and loaned it to me until it was stolen from my car. I replaced it with an ARP Omni that we didn’t enjoy half as much  given it’s weight and general flakiness .

  3. I have long since dumped the 8s on a solo artist (acoustic guitar and vocals) who thinks they"re great. I definitely found that boosting the input signal helped a bit but it still seemed pretty weak for a my medium volume bar band. Since then, I"ve gotten a couple ofAlto TS312s (I believe that the TS3XX is nearly identical to the Headrush speakers with a slightly different preamp) for the same kind of gigs and been quite happy with it - decent volume and decent range even if piano sounds a little metallic. It even works for mid-sized outdoor soirees.
  4. Just downloaded the firmware update, the manager and the new sound files. Not a whole lot of doc but it's useable. I like that they finally did it and the new piano and mellotron are welcome but all in all not too thrilling. From my perspective, it'll live and die on the availability of a lot more new sound content.
  5. Unfortunately, I own a couple of 8s - they sound fairly good a low volumes but they"re stunningly underpowered for live gigs even as monitors. I"d love to find out if/how anyone has had a positive live experience with either the 8s or the 12s.

  6. Assuming the NC2X is the same as the NC2 USB-Audio wise then it works pretty well with IOS devices I haven't noticed any particular latency issues with either an IPad or an IPhone and the audio fidelity is fine for live work. Level matching is a total pain tho - I'm loving the USB audio level knob on the MODX!
  7. I give up...

I waited as long as I could. I just cancelled my mid-March NC2X order with the Sweet one and ordered a MODX-7 instead - yeah I know it's not really equivalent (it's more of a light-weight top-board replacement for my Kronos 61) but I've already got an NC2 and a few clonewheels so I'll muddle through. I may revisit the NC2X if and when Studiologic releases editing software for it.
