  1. Joined a wedding band...after two weddings, we had a band meeting and guitarist and bass player complain I got paid more for the two gigs. Um, I played the ceremony and the cocktail hour, arranged the new songs for the reception; damn straight I get paid more. Too much animosity; on to the next band.
  2. Cheez, Billy...Lay off the donuts, will ya?
  3. What kind of engineer are you Mike? My company is hiring 500 Tech Employees this year (before Covid) in the Tampa, FL Area.
  4. Not to go off topic (but I will), Is it just me or do ALL Roland keyboards sound "THIN" to me? Notwithstanding the Jupiter 80 Synth, but most of the Supernatural and Piano's really sound thin to my ear.
  5. Ok, now that we established the Sit / Stand Issue, we can talk about the Face the audience or the band issue!!! If you face the band, the audience can see your side and you can see the audience; ala Elton John.
  6. I'll stand when I play whenever the drummer does also.
  7. I suppose he also puts the Lead Guitar in the balanced MIX similar to the keys? Does he turn down the keys during solos too? I've had this happen to me as well; then the bastards turn up my monitor so it sounds like I'm hot, then turn me down in the mains so I disappear. Then I have the band tell me I'm too hot in the Mix!! WTF? You can't win.
  8. I thought this review / Demo was pretty interesting in terms of feature set and sound quality. Also a nice demonstration of song makeup possibilities.
  9. The concept of a sequencer in this day in age is an interesting one and I like where Roland is going with this. I have always felt the evolution of the sequencer needed to be powerful, sophisticated, and easy enough to make up an entire song. Karma on the Korg was cool at cadences and rhythmic passages, but could you make up a song with it and do it easily? No. The simple sequencers in the drum machines don't go far enough to allow sophisticated breaks, intros, endings, build ups, etc. So the concept Roland has taken is very much an organic evolution of a Song Makeup combined with the traditional approaches sequencers were used for. I could imagine Roland releasing a "Style Pack" with pre made song templates to load into the sequencer to get your creative juices flowing. Combine that with the ability to interface with external equipment and DAWS and you've got yourself a pretty dynamic composing tool.
  10. What is with the super cheap On/Off switches for each section? I used to buy these at Radio Shack in the 80's?
  11. I would NEVER use UPS to ship a keyboard. They have lost 2 keyboards and I had to fight each time to get compensated for the insurance value. It took 3 months each time. FedEx is the way to go and yes it is very expensive and yes, you better pack i really well and have it over insured.
  12. I know its a kludge, but in the past when I've played other players rigs where their keyboard stand interfered with the pedals like the Keytree, I've always had success putting the pedals parallel to the feet and using them that way. It actually works well as it stops pedal creep! lol
  13. I can't get this ear worm out of my head. All star band, killer groove, killer rhythm guitar, killer vocals.
  14. Very Tasty...such a great song. And I agree on the arrangement and the solos. Oh that sound of a real wurly....yes sir.
  15. So, what substitute can us poor Windows users use to get the same functionality as MS?
  16. All my personal gigs from hell are pretty much weather related. Either hit by a CAT 1 hurricane, almost getting hit by lightning whilst playing in a courtyard or melting in 100+ degree beach wedding ceremony in the direct sun, then trying to jog back to the club house for cocktail hour then to the reception for the main gig in sweltering heat. This is NOTHING compared to the hellish gigs above.
  17. Share your experiences...what was your last/worst GIG from Hell!!! Was it like this? ==> http://www.break.com/video/band-covered-snow-play-top-ski-hill-blizzard-conditions
  18. Yea, I've read this position from people before and all I have to say is.... Let he without sin cast the first stone. I'm sure you've NEVER downloaded anything in your life right?
  19. Damn, that was nice, but the wife wants new garage doors. Haha, this made me laugh. I did garage doors last year. She made me do a pool heater this year. And now she needs hearing aids. My needs are WAAAAY down on the bottom somehere below the dog.
  20. Are talking about the AX90B? I may be wrong, but I don't think they ever sold a mic adapter for the AX90B. I own an AX90B (RED), and I've never seen it offered. I looked extensively. btw, what do you estimate the value of one of these is? I took me 6 months to find a RED one when it was new. Let me know if you find a source.
  21. I own the RNR R10 and it's about 15 years old. In looking at maybe upgrading; I noticed the R12 is actually the same size as the R10 with the only difference being the R12 is 1lb heavier, size of the front casters, and the price. Except for Sand and Grass, I've never had a problem with rolling my R10. If your strapped for cash, the R10 is just as good!
