  1. Another problem has surfaced regarding the Cubase 12 sliders and Genos Sliders. I have no idea as to how to seamlessly sync them up. If I start a new midi track with USB1 and Local off on the Genos and record a soft trumpet configured in Cubase 12, there is one issue with the faders.. If the Trumpet is assigned to Right1, Cubase 12 moves all of the Genos sliders as a group....this is not I want. With an older project, the slider for the trumpet has to be clicked for the original recorded volume is to be heard. The volume comes in low, does not move the Genos sliders but the volume corrects itself...not what I want... Any replies or solutions are greatly appreciated. My Genos-Cubase integrated study is on hold for revision 4 until I resolve this slider issue. Alan Russell
  2. Well, that is the ultimate step after a polished lead vocal and very tight brass, woodwinds Strings and percussion tracks to do an Audio mix down to a wav file or if the client wants to listen to the arrangement without the lead voice, you can just mute it prior to your mix down - (Vocal audio track) and create an MP3 file to send he/she an EMAIL. Most single vocalists prefer it that way. A transposition request is possible but not too far away from the original root key arrangement. The most is 1 1/2 steps up or down. Please look for my revisions, this study is subject to change daily. Alan Russell
  3. This integrated study has been updated The Genos 2.11 & Cubase professional 12 Recording integration by Alan Russell. (Revision #2) We must assume that you know how to create a piano and styles multi recording file to be saved on a USB stick. You must select with the home key on your Genos the piano and the styles with the correct tempo before moving ahead The saved midi file is then inserted into your computer and Cubase professional 12 is booted up. On the Genos you can now set the system menu to USB1 and uncheck everything to turn off the local control on the second page of the menu called midi You will now need to highlight all of the tracks including input output channels on your track screen using Cubase Pro 12. Your two channels, mine being digital station 1 and Yamaha Genos workstation 2 needs to be set for every track so use alternate shift and it’s easily executed. Unclick all of midi red circle tracks and listen to the tracks being played. If they sound completely normal you’re ready to move on It is now time to insert an audio track in Cubase professional 12. Make sure that the audio connections screen that can be configured in studio is absolutely correct so that the audio file can record those midi tracks. The (outputs) on the audio connection screen will be grayed out and that’s normal. Create the audio track I always record it on Audio track 2 leaving Audio Track 1 for the lead vocal and make sure that none of the midi tracks are muted - start recording If everything is working you will see the audio track printing the recorded data on your project window When it is done, solo the audio track to see how it sounds. Create the audio track 1 and make a lead vocal having audio track 2,with the recorded midi data as your accompaniment After you’re done see how it sounds. If everything is OK you are ready to move on to create other midi tracks to fill in your musical arrangement **Note** you MUST Create a no connection with the original miditracks in order to move on Create a midi track and make sure all of your previous midi tracks have NO Connection In my workflow the first midi track is the sax section In the inspector you must let Cubase Pro 12 know that you are going to use the live sax section this is right under my Yamaha Genos workstation 2 - you will be able to find it Then make sure your audio track where you recorded the previous midi files is not muted and then you could arm the new midi track and start creating your sax section midi track After you finish - playback the audio track and the sax section midi track and if it sounds good you’re ready to move on. Keep adding midi tracks!! Create another midi track and in my case I selected the Seattle warm strings. Once it is assigned in the inspector you could play the keyboard and you’ll hear them immediately Start your recording and make sure the Sax section midi track is unmuted. Complete the string track and if you didn’t like the instrument you could always change it in the inspector I will generally add brass. A lead trumpet bells and trombones even an oboe for my other midi tracks. I have 11 tracks to play with I am available for questions. Keep in mind I have been professionally arranging since 1968 and I have studied with the old school. I have had a marvelous music career Alan Russell I am available for questions. 6. I have not seen a solid video of Genos and Cubase 12 on youtube. If you create a saved USB of s multi midi recording and import it (via USB stick) to Cubase everything works. The problem is when you add a midi track in Cubase such as a sax section that when you play it back the piano plays its part as a sax section. Is there a way to isolate these midi tracks in Cubase or does the entire 16 track arrangement have to be created first in GENOS then imported in to Cubase? Your response is greatly appreciated..
