Thanks Aspen! I will try all these things the next gig. Only possible problem with behind would be
What kind of space or room I can fit it in like that. But, sounds like a winner.
Any one need a set of Dxr10's in bags barely used? I'll set up in
The for sale sec.

I keep my Ebtech plugged in to my mackie mixer and no noise at all.
It lives there so, I never have an issue where ever I go
-
Go to one of these folk type festivals or acoustic events. When I say acoustic
I mean no amplifier. You will not hear any hard left right stuff much really. What you will
Hear is more of the 3 D experince.
I think that's kind of what u get from this speaker.
But,maybe that's just me.

Thanks Aspen i made a panel and what is a good wedge? The foot stops?
Also put the SS in front of the sub or beside it? But, up front.
-
Anyone? On the above. I am contemplating of ridding one system or the other,I'm separated from a 21 year marriage and I could use the funds but, I'm torn on selling either really
But,if I have to: I need to challenge the benefits.

Also, would tilting it up somehow have the Same effect?

I just played a gig last night with my SS and a small ev sub.
I have mixed reviews on which I like best my yamaha dxr10 and ev subs
Or this. I know the Yamis are going to give me more power over all
And can push further. Non the less. One thing I noticed is i have to
Put the SS volume up to push enough sound to the back of an
Open outdoor gig. I had the SS placed directly on top on the sub.
The stage is raised but, I wonder if the SS needs to be up
More. Here's why, I noticed people mid to back of area are fine with the sound
But, up front there plugging there ears! I know it's claimed to not do this
But, that's what happened. So, has anyone extended or raised the SS
Up more like a traditional speaker for live sound? as a pa not a keyboard amp.
??

Drive through? Did you get a hot apple pie with that?lol

Ear Candy. Sweet sound!

Moved to the for sale section.

I own the SS ,a pair of them and I'm still experimenting.
As a pa this may not be for everyone.
But,if you don't mind the work it can pay off.
I haven 't been fully paid yet however.
I'm taking the risk so others won't have to.
Doesn't that make me a hero? Or just a goof?

i have 1/4' plugs I made from broken connector/cables I stripped down as far as I can go. They stay there all the time.
-
I believe that might be the case. So,first thing i did was to remove the compressors that i had on the sub mix and mains. The second I set the graphic eq's to a small bit of the smile face curve to take out any harsh mids and mid lows. So far that has helped but,we'll have to try again at another gig.

I use linked aux send from my Dl1608 and set it to post I set up a mix
I do have to balance the two stereo outs to taste with 2 master volumes.

Hammonddave:
Flat power and stable freq. response?
Can you elibriate on this? not sure what exactly you mean?
thanks!

I have a gig tonight, weather may conflict with use of my SS's so,we'll see how it responds tonight outside if it doesn't rain!
-
I do want to give this SS some time before i pull any plug in all fairness. Keep in mind what I'm trying to do with them may be a bit unconventional.

I've had EV's in the past but, many, many years ago! The unpowered 12's can't remember the moldel, plastic enclosure. Never an issue.
I like the subs I have for sure!
-
Thanks for your input! Personally I like the Dsr112's but, don't know if I can afford right now.Still paying for what I have! Also like the DXR10's /I've used for indoor gigs. Don't know how they do on larger gigs,outdoors...
-
If I should go the route of mains I'm looking at Yamaha DXR8, DXR10 or DSR112's
Or the QSC K8's.
I've owned all but the DXR8's. I felt the DSR112 the best of course, the DXR10 second and the QSC K8's third. Just from some use. Owned the DSR112's longest.
I'm hoping I don't have to however. BTW, It would be paired with 1 or 2 EV ZXA-1 subs. (ME)

I am stugling a little bit with the 2 SS situation. However I am making some strides
in countering issues. Some of it is user error. But, i must omit I miss my Yamaha DSr112's at times because I know what they can do and it is easier to adjust
what I am looking for. My original idea with these (SS) was to make things simpler and
cover all the bases with very little set up. But,lately I find it overwhelming to adjust
and try to get the right placement on real gig situations. And the louder these have
to be pushed to cover the further away from them you should be! These get loud!
I had complaints last night that it sounded muffled on some songs but really clear on others/I believe it to be user error because of some light compression(sub outs &mains) I tried. I don't think they like compression. So, I removed it for the last set,a bit better.
I haven't given up but, If I can't get it right soon,I may have to admit defeat and consider using a single SS as our monitor and search for a pair of mains.
-
Sorry, what I meant are the outs full freq. outs or do they have a high pass filter.
Some times I just dash through with my comments or responses. so, sorry for the
wrong definition.

Hmmm.. That's not what this guy is saying. (See video below)
So, we'll have to see about that.
Check this video out. Now he may be mistaken. Might need to ask EV direct on this. I have some gigs and have to work so, not sure when I could try this.
Here a video claiming it crosses over @ 100hz on the output. In other words
He says all information 100hz and above go to the tops.
You be the judge...
Heads-up: SpaceStation keyboard amp is apparently back
in The Keyboard Corner

Sadly, I gave up on the SSV3 and I owned 2 at a point! I just couldn't deal
With the set up variations from job to job. They sounded great when it worked. But, because it s soooo dependent on those spaces and positioning, I just couldn't feel confident when I set up. I don't always have the time needed to adjust from each gig. This to me is it's down side. Perhaps Aspen, could gather valuable information from it's users and compile a simple guide for each situation, possibly in a PDF file that is downloadable. Just to give a quick look that possibly insures some quicker set time for each situation? I think that would help users that are on the fence and are struggling to get it right per situation. What do you think Aspen?
I think your a great person and really are passionate about what you are doing. So, don't take this as a negative criticism but, an opportunity and a valid challenge.
