Still no poly aftertouch, how come?

The pads on my original Keylab send poly AT, but not the keys.

I would have liked to see them add more CV outs, rather than ditch them completely.

Thanks - I also don't recall every using them either, and probably confirms that these should pre load on 1st install.

I'll try to go with the sale, and if he can't get this to work I'll give him the money back.

to put into context - this is what got me concerned that this files are needed - from a yamaha document - "Each PLG150 series board comes with special “Plug-In Voice” data – these files are typically .mid files that bulk in 64 factory Voices. Load the Plug-in Voices that come with the PLG150-PF. On the diskette find the appropriate file: “01PlgV1.mid” or “01PlgV2.mid” depending on whether your board is in slot 1 or slot 2. Playing this file to the S30/80-CS6 synth will bulk the Plug-In Voice data to the 64 PLG locations associated with the board. They are listed in the PLG150-PF Owner’s Manual on page 29. You can back up these files to a SmartMedia card once you have loaded them"

Never had the PF, but when I got plg150-AN and DX boards, I didn't have to load anything into them.  Just put them in, hook up the connector and go.

  3. Kind of a conundrum for Kurzweil.

If they come out with a 76 keyboard that has an audio interface would they call it a PC or a K?

How about if it has a metal case, or a Fatar keybed?

Would pads make it a K, or would it be an added feature to a PC. Same could be said for a built in ribbon.

All of this would also apply to 61 keys too.

Seems like they're getting things all jumbled up.

    Maybe time will tell.

    Yes it is tempting indeed.

I’ve always wanted an Oberheim, and the OBX8 is unaffordable right now.
This might fill that space, although I do wonder if they will one day make a flagship-type synth like the OBX8, but with a more modern feature set - more modulation, effects, etc.

If they do make something like that, it will probably be equally unaffordable.

Despite the 5 voices and 44 keys, I like what I'm seeing and hearing of the TEO-5.

....PC4-7 is already 'Legacy'... Could there be some new features?

I'm so glad I got my PC4-7's when I did.  I wasn't expecting this at all.

They're pretty much almost perfect for what I was looking for.

I'm going to have to keep my eyes closed to what's coming down the pike though.    🤣

    Maybe they'll complete the K line - 88/76/61.

Can't help but wonder what's going to happen to the PC line though.

I thought it was doing well, but maybe plastic, light weight, external power supply,

lower cost, and the keybed weren't what people wanted?

When are they going to show us the price?  Or is this vapoware?

Should be soon.  When the PC4 was announced, if I remember right, it took about a 5 or 6 months before the price was set.

I got mine soon after, but hounded them mercilessly to get it.  🤣

A collaboration between GForce Software and Oberheim, the Oberheim OB-1—based on the 1978 hardware OB-1—broadens the original Oberheim sound palette with an enhanced signal path, polyphony up to 16 voices, a chorus, delay, reverb effects, and more. Now available from GForce.....

....Intro price: £49.99. (Normal price: £99.99.) I was offered a £39.99 price, presumably because I have other GForce Oberheim products.

I just tried to order it, and yes, it said 'Loyalty Discount Applied' or something.  But the site must be too busy, I couldn't complete the order.

    I'll try again later.

I was a bit torn on this one, because I've got so much of their stuff already.  I can hear a lot of similarities, but there's also some differences.

I can hear it, but can't put my finger on exactly what's causing it.

It's got the gorgeous, lush sounds I've come to expect from them, but with enough of a twist that I'll get this one too.

Part loyalty, I guess.  These are people I feel good about supporting, even if it's just in a small way.

Edit:  Order went through - off to play.😍

  8. Probably been done already, but I'm thinking -

AI analysis of most popular chord progressions used in hit songs,

AI analysis of most popular melodic intervals for vocals and leads used in hit songs,

AI analysis of rhythms used in hit songs, etc., etc.

Remember - you read it here first.  🤣

If you're already in Steinberg's loop, just sign in, download, and activate.

It runs in Halion, or the free Halion Sonic:  https://www.steinberg.net/vst-instruments/halion/sonic/

If you're not signed with Steinberg, you've got to jump through some hoops.

Not really my thing - sample mangling/spectral manipulation, and smearing, but it can come up with unique sounds pretty easily.

    Hard to beat free too.

If you jump into the free Sonic program, they've got some other content that will run in it too:

Thank you all for the input, advice & suggestions.  I haven't had this level of GAS in awhile.  I think it's even worse now knowing about the Quantum and Polybrute.

    Decisions, decisions...

For me, I knew if I didn't get an A6, it would always be in the back of my mind that I wanted it.

So I got one, used it for a while, and haven't thought much about it since it's been gone.  YMMV

I'm pretty sure that the weight will be about the same as the K27. The K2088 has the same action and a metal enclosure, so it's probably going to weigh around 52lbs. It's just not possible to get the weight down lower with that Fatar action.

K2700 action and metal enclosure for the K2088 is confirmed then?  Anything definite on that end for the K2061 yet?

  12. To me, it's a PC461 with a built in ribbon, and wheels on the side which could make it as long as (or longer) than the PC4-7.

The only thing that might be a snag with calling it that would be what keybed/enclosure they decide on.

Otherwise, they seem pretty identical from what's been disclosed so far.
