Hello there, I didn"t really know where to put that topic ! I have the oppurtinity to have free lessons on 'anything I want' in France. For me that"s about Ableton Live and Mixing. I heard Live wasn"t ideal for mixing, is that true ? The fact is that I paid for it, and I want to learn it as much as possible for live use. If I pay for example Logic (that"s the less expensive), I will have to take the Logic course, whereas I"m more interested in Live. Do you think you can do really good mix sessions with Live ? In what regards should I try another DAWâ¦I"ve heard people that use Live to mix and it seems ok ! Thanks in advance for your help Cheers from Paris

So apparently, thanks to you and other forums, this should be the solution : Redirect my Click Track from Ableton to the outputs 3/4 of my BabyFace (is this the male XLR ones on the front ?) to the Audio IN of the SPD. Then, the drummer will have to select PHONES in the Audio In settings so that the click is not routed to the main output. The audio In volume must be carefuly adjusted because it seems to saturate easily. I"ll use the 2nd headphone output of my sound interface to hear the click too. Hurray ! Well that"s just theory⦠I have to test this tomorrow whereas I don"t know my sound interface and that the gig is well⦠tomorrow !

"Otherwise just pick up a Headphone amp and run out 3/4 from babyface to it. Then use a pair of phones by you, and get an extension cable for your drummer"s headphones to make it to the headphone amp." He won't be able to hear himself play the SPD then :'(

If i route the click from Ableton click track to the output 3/4 my Babyface and then to the audio in of the SPD, do you know if this work ?

Hello guys, I'm a keyboardist, and I'm using mostly my computer and Ableton Live for VST. For two songs, I want to give the click to the drummer who's playing with the SPD SX. I need the click too ! So what I think is possible is that : route the headphone output of my sound interface to the audio in of the SPD. Then, the drummer will have to select PHONES in the Audio In settings so that the click is not routed to the main output. I'll use the 2nd headphone output of my sound interface to hear the click too. Is this how it works ? Thanks guys.

Well that's very good advices I use Gig Performer so there is not really effects such as compression EQ etc. For Omnisphere I feel like indeed I don't really need Arturia FX, but maybe for the V Collection. The thing also is that I'd like (quite soon) use mics on an acoustic piano and use FX like reverbs etc. Even record some stuff for fun or make live streams etc. So these effects could be useful for this kind of stuff ? Or it would be equally nice to use Ableton Live ? (I have it)

Hello guys, I'm about to buy the Arturia FX collection + 3 modulations for 199 (I have a special offer). It ends tomorrow, but I'm not sure. I want to use it for live with my vst synths and keyboards (Omnisphere 2, Keyscape and Arturia V Collection 7). So I have 3 questions : - Does these effects will really make my synths sound better ? If for example I always put pre-amps and compressors, it will always sound better, no ? - Does the internal effects of Omnisphere/Arturia could be enough ? - Will this be too much CPU-intensive ? I feel like 199 is a great price but I want to be sure it will actually be enough improvement of the sound Thanks guys

Hey guys I wanted to go back to you but I am still recording and it is quite consuming (as you know !). Hopefuly it was not a GP or mac issue, happy about that since I really did everything so that it works flawlessly. So the studio guy just finally did another routing with another pre-amp and it worked. Also I think he did something in order to use his main Apogee Ensemble. I will ask him today so that I know more about what he did. Anyway thanks a lot for your support because it was really needed !! Hopefuly the pops and cracks are not hearable on the beggining of the recording since it was realllllyyyy quite and that it is in the middle with basse/seuls/voice.

Hello, I don't think I have Cpu problem since the headphone out sounds perfect. It is a Scarlett 18i8 2nd gen. I'm not sure about balanced outputs, there is just a stéréo monitor output.

Hey guys, I"m at the beggining of the recording of an album and we have a problem. I don"t think it"s coming from Gig Performer.... I"m using mostly Keyscape (threw Omnisphere 2). There are some little pops from time to time, on the recording and in my headphones. BUT ! When I listen directly from the headphone output of my audio interface, it is a perfect sound. As soon as it goes threw the 'studio guy setup" and goes back into my monitoring (and headphones) there are these little pops and cracks. My level is not at all too high, my cpu is around 15%. Hope you have maybe ideas ? Why is the sound perfect on the output of my audio interface but not in the studio guy setup ? We changed jacks, DI !

Hello guys, I have to soon take a good sound interface, I currently have the Steinberg UR22 (mk1), and I highly suppose that's not very good, especially considering I'm a gigging musician. I want to use a good audio interface for two things : 1- playing gigs with Gig Performer and plenty of vsts. 2- record some of my acoustic piano and maybe add effects on acoustic piano in live. I find the UAD interface too expensive, I don't think I need that but I'm not sure. Maybe the Apogee Element 46 ? What do you think I should take ? I need 4 input (mic) Thanks

Hello guys, I'm trying to send program changes and bank changes via Ableton to my Sequential Rev2. I've hear the easiest way to do this in Ableton would be to set up a dummy clip that fires the data on the correct MIDI channel. Problem : it seems that sometimes the program changes are not recorded, from time to time, I end up with no program changes recorded (whereas I did save with them), sometimes it works ! Do you know another way to trigger these ? I want to control the Minilogue and it works with it apparently without hiccups. Thank you

Hello guys, There is a 30% discount on Ableton Live until tomorrow, I think I want to buy it (mostly to sequence my hardware stuff but also to compose my music). Wich bundle should I take ? Do you think Max for Live is interesting for stuff I might do ? (Live concerts with tons of vst synths, synths, loops etc.).
