  1. I just read this article which was originally a reddit post about the hazards of Gear Aquisition Syndrome. I thought it was interesting enough to share here at the internet's primary GAS headquarters. Maybe Mr. Nichols is on this forum? https://www.musicradar.com/news/how-gear-almost-ruined-my-life?lrh=c6bb4c175965be244dce97266275375d2e7ff3578744b205ca1516c51de7d9a9
  2. I have the Strymon El Capistan and the Sunset pedals that i use with Moog Subsequent 37 and some other synths. I think both sound fantastic. Very clean and transparent sound. I've never spent time with the other pedals mentioned so i cant help with any direct comparison.
  3. Funny enough I was listening to Seal yesterday too! I loved his first two albums. For FLAE, i've always loved the Neville Bros version.
  4. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll certainly give that a try. Although I’ve gotten to a pretty good place with the velocity settings now, so I’m not as concerned.
  5. This one Sums to mono. I used to do something like this before I started playing stereo. This does not have individual level control. https://www.radialeng.com/product/proav1
  6. Had my first loud jam session with my adjusted touch settings. Much better than before but I’m still going to tweak a bit more.
  7. D Gauss is correct. And I should mention this is not an Alto problem. I have experienced similar with JBL eons and QSC speakers also.
  8. Ts308 for me. I can’t keep up with rock drums and 2 guitars without going through a mixer to send the Alto a hotter signal.
  9. Did you use a mixer between the keys and altos? I find the altos don’t produce much sound unless you use a mixer or similar to bump up your line level going into the alto.
  10. I worked with the settings last night and definitely created a much better feel. The settings didn’t really work as I expected, so it was more done by feel. I imagine I’ll probably end up still tweaking a bit more after playing with bands and through different amplification to see what is best.
  11. Thanks for the response. I’ll work from there. Do you start with “normal” as baseline before going into the deeper controls ?
  12. Does anybody have any favorite touch settings they are using on the YC61 for acoustic piano? I just can’t seem to find an ideal place between soft, normal, and hard settings. I haven’t dug into the new curves yet. Just as a reference, I’m more of a synth guy, not a pianist, so I’m not requiring a weighted action. I’ve been happy on Nord electros and older Roland’s like the xp30. I like everything else on the YC, but I’m just not yet connecting with the AP’s.
  13. I'm about 99% certain I used the existing bolts. It is slightly finicky to change beacuse the bolts want to fall out, but its nice to not be looking for a wrench. You may also notice a slight "shift" how the leg sits inside the other telescoping leg when using these knobs. It feels a bit weird when first going in, but it is still totally solid when playing. You can really crank these knobs in with just your hand, and they are definitely not coming loose when I tighten them. I never had the faintest thought of going back to the regular nuts if thats valuable to anyone. I am in agreement with some on this thread that I love love love this stand. Its literally about 5 seconds to set up. I also really like walking in, popping the stand open and "marking my territory" on stage. I can get this thing in place even before the bass player drops his amp and goes to the bar...
  14. Looks like i got them from the ole amazon. i bought in May 2017 so i've been using them for over 5 years without any problems. 15. Here are some pictures with the knobs on and off. I can make changes without any tools which can be handy. Although I very rarely make changes.
  16. I’ll take some pictures tomorrow and post it.
  17. Thanks for the info. What did you use for the quick release pins? I replaced with knobs on mine, but your idea is better !
  18. i happen to be sitting next to an MKS-30 right now! It has some voice chip problems so I have been debating whether to buy replacement chips or not. It always had a great sound. I might need to get this running again so i can entertain the Kiwi option!!!
  19. Im another North Jerseyan! (but now in Central NJ). In high school, there used to be a back way into that Sam Ash that would drop you in the parking lot for the next store, but right next to it. I think it was off Farview? And there was also another place nearby for a while. I think it was Muscially Yours or something like that. Im sure the people at Sam Ash and Victors loved me spending hours in there and never buying anything! Especially Victors when it was small in the middle of Ridgewood.
  20. I use the KP-408 in a fairly loud rock band. My keys go through a Key Largo and then into the MotionSound, but i have tons of head room. I'm probably running the Master at around 65% max and the channel volume at 65% max and still have plenty of volume for mid-sized rooms. For these setups I keep it low to the ground so it doesnt blow me away. I assume it would be somewhat less without the Key Largo as a pre-amp. For a really large room you'd definitely want to go through a PA, but the MotionSound can get obnoxiously loud if you want. Even with the 408, i tend to roll off the bass eq a bit to stay away from the bass player.
  21. First thing that came to my mind was Try A Little Tenderness.
  22. I’ve been listening to this play list all day, and all I can say is you guys are great ! So many awesome tracks on there.
  23. DJ, How did you get your mic stand connected in that setup? I've been looking for a good way to do that but havent figured it out yet.
  24. CEB is absolutely correct. I tried the Alto without a mixer and the output was very very low.
  25. i saw Johnnie Johnson at the Turning Point in Piermont NY in the early 90's. I was probably 5 feet away from him, and the bar probably holds less than 100 people. That was pretty awesome (even though he played some kind of digital piano).
