Nord is calling the “new generation” action “Kawai Responsive Hammer Keybed”vs the prior’s “ Kawai Hammer Action.” The rig is also a pound heavier. Any idea if they might have added escapement to the action? IMHO, the 2 piano sounds on sliders with independent effects is a big upgrade. And sure second synth is good too.

Not my main rig, but wanted a beach jam and boat portable (12 lbs, with speakers and battery powered), and it has pumped new life into my cp-4! Finally a small portable board with good sounds and live control. The cp-4 pairing is an unexpected bonus.

Has anyone had the opportunity to compare these boards? Would to hear/learn more about them. Cheers and happy fall!

Thanks all. The peanut gallery in my house got a kick from the responses....I think they were laughing with me . Will research all the above. It"s seems 4 octaves is only an option for a midi board- that"s a shame. Love simplicity of all in one. Good point about Bluetooth latency SynMike- won"t bother figuring that out. Will revert back after the chosen one has gone through its pace of C-trials! Cheers.

Hi forum players. Love all your dedication to this channel. Would love some advice on a keyboard to take cruising on a sailboat. 4 octave is fine, lightweight preferred but will sacrifice that for reasonable keyboard quality (at least semi weighted) and close to full size keys. I find 'toys' very hard to play on. Built in speaker or I could Bluetooth to the boat speakers. 12v probably doesn"t exist but alternatively a battery powered keyboard would be fine as I could charge 110v when the motor is running. Piano and electric pianos and maybe an organ is all I care about, but half decent quality. Im guessing most boards in the class won"t be crazy expensive so price is probably not a factor. Thank you. And BTW in case anyone considering the same, I found the perfect guitar for salt water cruising - a carbon fiber Journey guitar with removable neck. Main rig: Nord electro 5 HP and Mojo 61. Mojo 61 to replace my broken Sk1. Arrived just a few days before a series of gigs, got the b3, EPS and Clav dialed in well enough and couldnt be happier with it as my top board (current have an NE573 HA. The mojo is so much fun to play and sounds great! Now I gotta get the broken power source input on the sk1 fixed and I guess Ill be selling that.

Yet the part i loved most of cp4, all its buttoms on the fromt still make it the perfect lower manuall in a setup..

Love playing keys and cajon with (reverse) kick pedal. For full on monkey, get a Hi hat with tambourine going too!

FunkyKey, how do you like GSs action compared with your Forte, for AP and EP?

The JamKey is basically a 61/73k version of the DMC-122 but as AnotherScott said, it is not separable and the lower keyboard is not hammer action. If separable, the weight of a TP-40L would not be a hindrance (hint hint). Back to the Seven, it seems fantastic for what it sets out to do...If I did go down this path, though, I'd have to add a set of drawbars (and organ module) on top which means added hassle and loss of that clean look - but that's just me.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool (esp. if it had aftertouch). And then, just as the Mojo61 has an optional "nothing but keys" lower manual, a similar lower "nothing but keys" attachment with 7x nice hammer action keys would probably give quite a few people exactly what they're looking for. Couldn't agree more! A compact combo of a hammer action removable "nothing but keys" bottom 73k board nicely integrated with Mojo 73k with 2 sets drawbars and Gemini sound module. Take the top board only or also bring the piano board - here's where you can afford to the weight of a TP-40L. That's my dream rig!

If the hardware and interface is quality, I'd be happy to pay for significant upgrades (not fixes) to sounds once in a while. Do we really expect ongoing improvements for free and keep these guys in business?
