  1. There is defiintely no reason or incentive for a record company to sign an artist/musician/band with no fanbase

You should let Simon Cowell know this! It seems to me the opposite is true, that not very talented youngsters are taken on and turned into spice girls by media companies.

  2. I have had a Viscount Legend Live for a few months now, great organ, love it. I just got the pedalboard 25 to go with it but it is really wide (about 100cm) and doesn't fit underneath any of my keyboard stands. I was hoping it would fit under the KM18810 but no, not even close.

I there an extra wide table style stand that I can use that has the required width?

I know Viscount do some special stands but they are either too expensive, non foldable or unavailable (in UK).

What I need is a KM18810 but with about 15cm more span.

    Many thanks for any help

  3. Hi,

Has anyone here studied the contents of 'Intro to Polyrhythms: Contracting and Expanding Time Within Form by Ari Hoenig and Johannes Weidenmueller' ? If yes, I"d like to hear of your experience.

I studies that a bit some years ago. I was wanting to look at it again a few weeks back (lockdown has enabled some extra practice time) but couldn't find it. There was a dvd as well I remember, probably on youtube somewhere. I didn't find it that useful for me I remember although I enjoyed the concepts and love Ari's music.

  4. I'm no authority on how individual human brains process pitch information but I'm pretty sure "correct" pitch is a quantifiable thing, so either he sings flat or he doesn't sing flat â it shouldn't be a matter of how an individual ear "perceives" it.

If only it were so simple. Jacob does use a lot of microtones, just tuning and alternative pitch centres.

Very few singers have control of microtones in the way Jacob has, probably largely due to his operatic upbringing.

If you are interested in Jacobs approach here is an introduction â¦

  5. I have had some issues with my Zx-A1"s when paired with my nord stage 2. For quite a while I had overheating problems - when the thermal cutoff happens you can"t use the speaker for like 5-10 minutes which is a disaster on the gig. After a while I realised that the nord ouput is rather low so the amps have to be turned up much more than they should be and it is this was casuing the overheating problem. Easily solved with a small mixer and this is really the fault of the nord stage 2 rather than the speakers. I also had a few issues with the mic inputs - the volume pots stick out and are easily damaged in transit. I also had a few times when the power got turned off suddenly which the speaker doesn"t seem to like very much, maybe it triggers the thermal cutout, not sure. Now I am careful about turning them off during breaks and making sure to keep the power supply good.

I always take 2 speakers to the gig now so if one goes down (not that it does, but I am a bit paranoid now) at least I can continue on. They do sound good though and have got me through 100"s of gigs.

  6. It looks promising (I love Erskines playing, his versatility and style of teaching), but apps like these tend to be limited -- e.g. you cannot use them for anything but the limited preloaded songs.

You may be interested in SessionBand jazz which is an app a bit like bandit thebox where you can put your own changes in. The drum parts are much better than ireal (which is unusable except for transposing changes on the gig imo)
