  1. If someone buys the new SK1-73, will it have the latest software and extra sounds already? Or do you have to download them? thanks
  2. Do the keys hinge in the proper place? On the Krome they hinge on the back of the key making if difficult to play in flats.
  3. If only the PX5 was black...
  4. I don't see ANY comments on the blog. Are they filtering out negative comments?
  5. Good idea. I put a comment about the layer/split problems on thier Youtube video. Who knows if they'll pay attention.
  6. There's a "Tempo Delay" that locks to the tempo in the drum section (tempo is always flashing whether utilizing drums or not)...the tap tempo button is great and can be fine tuned by BPM with the dial. The delay knob controls number of repeats. MFX has a couple of tempo controlled effects, too: Tempo Step Phazer and Tempo Slicer, I haven't messed with the latter two yet. I kind of poo-poo'd the looper before, but just tonight I used the audio recorder in song mode for a 3.5 minute idea using a split I made with a pad and a sax and utilizing one of the rock drum loops at half time...about 58 bpm. I'm very impressed how expressive the "N." instruments can be...and it's all captured within this one board. Simple, fast and easy can get even a time-squeezed, lazy procrastinator like me, semi-productive...what a great tool! Can the tap tempo work on the tremlo?
  7. Dont know if anyone has brought this up (This thread is too large to check) There appears to only be two pedal inputs. So if one is used for piano sustain, and the other for expression, youre out of pedals if you want to switch rotary on and off. This could be a problem for some players when using splits/layers.
  8. What about the Casio WK series? Drawbars. Single trigger percussion. Not a half bad rotary sim. You have to admit it's as much of a clone as the VR09 is. (I mean raw features, not sound quality) If the new AC and EP sounds from the PX5s work thier way into the Casio work stations I think all of these products (electros, SKs, Vr09s) will have a real run for thier money.
  9. Thanks Craig. The SK1 CAN control layered organ seperatly with an expression pedal. Correct?
  10. I don't want to pay another $150 for a midi solutions box. More cash. More cords to hook up. I might be able to live without layering sounds the way I want, but it seems there are effects issues too with splits. Do I also understand correctly that if I split the board to LH piano and RH organ with rotary, that the rotary sim is stuck on the piano?
  11. YES this is correct, this is a very significant issue from my perspective, because I often want to split/layer an acoustic instrument with organ and I want only the organ to be controlled by the expression pedal. There is a work around using an external midi box, but it's a $149 solution.. I have reported this to my Roland rep, and others who have one should do the same. The more they hear about this, especially if they hear that people are NOT purchasing a VR-09 because of this, hopefully they'll fix it.. (no need for any "when pigs can fly" pictures..).. Deal breaker for me. I want a way to fade organ in and out for quick stabs and horn lines while the piano stays constant. Even the Juno DI can do that.
  12. Ive been skimming this thread and keep seeing things about the expression pedal. Am I correct in understanding that the VRo9 can not layer an organ and piano sound and have the expression pedal only control the organ?
  13. For piano I liked the action in my Juno GI more than my Electro. I would have kept the GI if the sound selection was more up my alley. The VR09 may be just be the ticket for me.
  14. If you appreciate organ music you should be a VR-09 fan even if the keybed is crap. Why? There are very few affordable clone wheels. If you want organ to carry on to the next generation there has to be affordable instruments to play.
  15. I onwed the Krome 61 for a day and couldn't stand the action. The whole thing bent in the middle.
  16. Isn't the Krome 73 un-weighted? Like the 61?
  17. If I had the money (and I don't) I'd pair the VR-09 with the RD-64 and build some kind of light weight wooden cabinet to hold them. The idea is the cabinet would resemble a B3 from the audience end.
