I use a pair of Roland CM30's in stereo. I have them on stands. Play an Arranger with backing drums, bass, etc. and sometimes have my sax player join me in my loft studio. Also work well with my FP90 piano. They provide plenty of volume and adequate bass for their size. I do not program my keyboard with them. For programming I use my gig speakers, JBL Eon Ones. Lots of choices, good luck

I remember reading somewhere on Rudy's studio C3. he tapped a line signal off the preamp and recorded that on separate track EQ'd just for bass. I tend to believe it because I was never able to get a bass sound that strong and full from a stock Hammond. On my gig B3 I had a Nova IV bass unit installed with an output to a bass amp to boost my bass. It was killer BTW just saw Tony Monaco not long ago and he has a subwoofer he puts his 145 on top of. Monster player and big sound.

Adam Know anyone with an Arranger Keyboard or an arranger module like the Roland BK7m.? Midi to it and just play over the Styles. Parts can be muted if you just want bass/drums. Agent should defiantly be getting you more $ for the extra work. Good luck.

I built a case from 1x4s and thin plywood. Sectioned it in 3 parts off for wires , pedals ( volume, sustain, ) and bass pedals. Worked great for a long time. Castors on the bottom and handle on top. When playing stood it up on its side next to me for drinks, etc.

For years I played my B3 using 18 pedals. Took the others off to save a few pounds. Organ had a mod to give me sustain so I could do walking and others bass lines smoothly. When I went portable I had a 13 note midi board under my Rhodes. Did the job just fine. I really rarely did LH bass, got so used to the pedals.

The leslie swirles the sound around so middle of the wall would be best. A corner would block sound on one side. Just my preferance but I would also keep the back panels on and face the leslie forward as it was meant to work and look. You should have plenty of volume for a room of that size.

Been doing somthing similiar for years. went thru a number of machines and now use a roland BK9 Arranger. Edited so as to have minimal backing along with my live playing and singing. No one walks out, they just dance. I would take the easiest route first and get an inexpensive machine to try out. Theres a few with pre-prgrammed beats in them. Last one I used was a Roland CR80, long out of production but it worked great. I don't trust sofware on a job but thats just me.

If you are you talking about using two different sounds at once. Then it depends on Midi channels.

Excellent bit on the program. I didn't realize Fazoli company was only 40 years old and that it took three years to build one. And 200 K WOW you gotta love that piano.

I had a pair for a few years and hated having to put them up on stands and they we bulky to move on my cart. Replaced them with a pair of JBL Eon Ones. Much better overall sound and bass and no stands needed. Not as loud but loud enough.

I loved Mountain and wore out that album. A bass player I worked with back in the day told me his band opened for them but their equipment truck got lost so they asked if they could use my froiends bands equip. They said OK if any damages would be covered. When Leslie went over to the Marshall stack on stage he just took his hand and swiped all the dials to 10. LOL! BTW I also remember a rumor that the only reason he had a Hammond player was so as not to be accused of copying Creme. RIP Mr. West you gave us some good music.

But if you read the info it says they have sources to get listed parts not in stock. Maybe they have contacts regular people don't

Maybe some of you already know of this but I just ran across on the Facebook Roland BK7M users group page. Someone was looking for a replacement for the selection/jog wheel on the unit. It is also on others units such as my BK9. Someome commented that this is a common problem as the wheel was not meant for heavy use. ( From now on I will use my IPAD App for the BK for editing ) Instrumentalparts.com has the wheel and parts for many other keyboards of all brands. Good to know. I'm going to buy a jog wheel just because $20 is a cheap piece of mind.

They should of had her as the musical guest . So much better than who they had. I lasted about 1 minute into their first song and changed channels .Same garbage that passes for R&B today. Second song was a slight bit better because at least it featured live instruments. Adele could of killed it with a few,songs.

ITs just amazing to me how TOP keeps up such a level of excellence with all the personel changes over the years. Wonder if they provide charts to the new faces to learn the parts ? Sort of a Buddy Rich thing, keep firing them and plugging in new guys. There seems to be no time when you would say, "yea but you should have heard TOP in xxxx year " I've got to get to see them one more time when all these restrictions are over.

The Zepplin thing was also in the back of my mind so maybe thats it. BTW I also had pedals for my Farfisa and later my Gibson. When I moved up to the B3 I tried and tried to play a smooth bass on the pedals and finally had a NOVA IV bass unit installed to add sustain and a seperate out to a bass amp. HEAVEN !

Franz Most of what you said I agree with. Maybe a volume pedal but this guy does know what bass pedals are. And yes it was a long time ago and he readily admits to using some recreational substances during his younger days. He is a super intelligent guy who knows loads of info on bands, preformers, etc. so I just didn't brush off his claim. I am very much int keyboard players who do the bass lines so the topic interested me. For years I couldn't figure out how Jimmy Smith did those bass lines on stock pedals alone, he did LH bass too.

A new friend of mine is a real music junkie. He doesn't play an instrument but has a super expensive stereo, large collection of vinyl including some highly collectable pieces, reads a lot on music subjects and in his younger days was all over the country and went to a ton of concerts. IE: Zepplin 3 times ! I'm jealous LOL We have great discussions on music, mostly Classic Rock and during the last one the Doors came up. I commented that it was Ray and Felix of the Rascals that influenced me to learn to do bass on pedals and keyboard. He swears when he saw them live Manzarek used bass pedals. I said no way and have not found any evidence of this. Settle our discussion if you can THANKS

Keeping it simple. forget specs and go listen or try at home. I've had great sucess with a pair of JBL Eon Ones run in stereo. Surprizingly good bass but for a party where I might have to alsk DJ I occasionally I add a small 12" sub. A step up would be the Yamaha StagesPas 1K. Wouldn's ever need a sub with two of those. Built in mixers, fairly portable as they pack into themselves, and no speakers stands needed. Very good balanced sound that covers a room and won't cost a fortune.

Similiar story. A friend told me about this "pianist" in a restaurant who was very good. We went to se him and sat in the back of the room at the bar. There was a black tablecloth covering the "piano". He sang every song and never looked down at the" keys" I soon realized I knew this guy from years ago as a good guitar player and singer and even with an Arranger keyboard he couldn't be doing all that music. Sure enough on his break i went over to say hello. Behind the curtain he had three things. His drink, ashtray, and a CD player. First time I encountered a Kareoke entertainer. Sad thisg is they liked him there, he was a good singer, and he did 4 nights a week for a few years.

Saw this a while ago and forgot about it. Still very interesting. My question is how no one caught on sooner? Not only the playing but the vast output of difficult repertoire recorded. Who can master that much ? Thanks for bringing it back, good watch.
