  1. Interresting that you @CyberGene made the switch from Numa to CP88 and now back again. Let us know how it goes! I believe I got one of the first Numa X in Europe and kind of loved it but ultimately had to let it go mainly because of acoustic piano playability. I understand that there’s been some useful updates and now I’m playing with the thought of selling my CP88 and get a Numa GT instead. The CP isn’t as great as I had expected. I cannot find the sounds I’m looking for. It sounds a bit dull and short decayed - and I hate the reverb effect. Not too keen on the exagerated texture on the black keys either. We’ll see…
  2. I totally agree with you on the Numa X impressions. I’ve sort of forced myself into liking it for other reasons than the action. And accepted the readjustments it required, but when playing live with more body grooving/movement and attacking the keys it became very apparent that it makes me sound worse than I am Did you ever consider Kawai MP7se? I know I am but that extra weight and 5 years on the market speaks against it.
  3. Hi Cybergene, Thanks for your review on that other site. Is there any ‘pedal noise’ at all on the CP88? Are you satisfied with the amount of decay? I’m getting rid of my NumaX88 and keep coming back to the idea of having a CP88 instead as I just can’t get comfortable with the TP110 action.
  4. I bought a Soundwear Stagebag NP-76 from Thomann. Super snug fit and good quality.
  5. Mine is not a GT - I find the action to be quite hard. I was sore in the beginning but have gotten used to it by now. It’s a simple action with plasticy keys that bottoms out rather hard. For band work it’s quite fine but I have yet to play a solo gig. I have one coming up in May and have hopes it’ll be ok.
  6. Glad to hear first impressions are good, Dave. I’ve been playing mine for 4 months now and with all things considered, I’m getting a long with it pretty well. My favourite piano patch at the moment (it changes often) is vintage grand split with american grand in the lower half. Cheers
  7. Congrats on your new board. I agree with a lot of your impressions. You have to hold down the bottom effect button in order to change effect. The abillity to apply different effects and reverb types to pianos, eps and organs makes a huge difference.
  8. Hi JFP. I don"t recall if I"ve tried the TP100, but I gotta say that after having played the TP110 some more now, I"ve really come to like it. My soreness is gone so that"s nice. Wouldn"t say that I"m experiencing any bounce back or sluggishness. My biggest complain is probably the way the keys (especially the black ones) react when you strike them far 'back". Like it"s harder to control your touch. Do you know what I mean?
  9. I recieved my Numa X from Thomann in Germany a few days ago. I"ve been playing it intensely trying to figure out what think about it. First impression was wow this thing is well built! I had not expected that⦠Is has a sturdy metal casing and sits super steady on my stand. The overall playing experience is very different from the Roland RD800 I"ve playing for many years. Not nescessarily a bad thing⦠wouldn"t call the Numa X an upgrade - just a different approach. The Fatar TP110 action is quite nice. But my fingers are really sore because the keys bottom out really hard. I"m used to Rolands PHA 4 which feels very 'cushiony" compared to this. I also feel that it"s a little bit harder to find that special connection between sound and action. But then again - this is a lightweight 88 key DP so I guess you"ll have to accept some trade offs. The 4 main piano sounds are quite good and all of them has their own unique character. I did edit them quite a bit though.
  10. Choosing a new DP is a tough task... I'm on a RD800 and have been ever since it came out. I love the piano designer function but must say I'm done with the core piano tones. I've come close to something I like with lot's of editing but in need of something new now. A friend of mine was kind enough to lend me a YC88 for a couple of weeks. I really liked it at first but the lack of decay in all the piano sounds made me 'overplay'. I only played it at home using Adam monitors ... I know on stage playing is different but when you use your DP at home and on stage, the abillity to have multiple sounds for whatever environment becomes important. dickiefunk, would you say that the Hamburg Grand is more of a piano for home/monitor playing?
  11. I want the basic 88. Hopefully they"ll ship in october as mentioned. Here"s todays video from the booth. Sounds like there"s some pretty descent piano sounds in there
  12. The big question for me will be if it"s a better lightweight one board option than Kurzweil SP6, Roland RD88, Yamaha MX88 etc⦠Tired of hauling my RD800 around. I"m currently borrowing a Yamaha YC88 but that feels pretty heavy too.
  13. There"s a teaser out there for a new piano coming out in october. I found this on a Danish website: There seem to be 2 versions with different keybeds (Fatar TP110 and TP400 wood) and cabinet contruction. 14 kg and 22 kg. 14. Hi Dave. Did you use your RCF speakers on any of those CP88 gigs?
  15. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences, Manolios. I Think I"ll hang on to my old RD800 a bit longer.
  16. So, how is the instrument now after updates. That Nashville piano sounds pretty charming in the vids. I have a Roland RD800 and wondering if it"s time to try something new. I like the idea of the CP88. Just a bit worried that DP progress hasn"t really moved that far ahead since 2014.
  17. Price in Europe is 799 http://audionewsroom.net/2018/01/new-from-kurzweil-sp1-stage-piano.html
  18. http://kurzweil.com/product/sp1/overview/ New simple DP.
  19. Thanks Bob, Tried to skim the thread but I guess I missed your report. If anyone has any experience from coffee shop gigs or the like, I would love to hear about your experience with the SS.
  20. While being really happy with my EV ZXA1 speakers for piano/acoustic guitar/vocals, I haven't paid attention to what has been going one here! I started to read this thread at page 69 or so and as a result I'm now suffering from a terrible coincidence of GAS. The whole stereo-sweet-spot issue is so true, so major thumbs up for Aspen to have come up with a brilliant concept. My question is if the SpaceStation would beat my EV's as a small PA system? would there be any mic feedback issues? Should the box be raised to get the vocals out in the room?
