  1. Not all modular tracks are bleep and blops. With a "normal" sequencer you can make melodic music too.
  2. I am waiting for mine. It should be here next Friday. Thanks for taking the time to explain your tips!
  3. Does the new pedal unit SP34 support half pedaling? Or are the 3 pedals only on/off switches?
  4. I am only waiting for 1 thing: weight of the 88 keys version
  5. Talking about the PX-S3000. Will we have access to sound design parameters? I have read that the knobs will have pairs of parameters like Cutoff and Resonance, or Low and High for eqs. But will we have access to the envelopes, lfos, modulation matrix? FX parameters like feedback, wet/dry, time rate for delays? Maybe not directly editing on the board but using an app?
  6. Thanks Mike Martin for the info. I liked the Casio CPD-S350 a lot, so if the PX-S3000 has these improvements it should be a lot greater. I am decided to purchase it, once it's available.
  7. I have just tried a new Casio CDP-S350 in a music store and I was very happy with it. I liked very much the sounds and the touch for piano playing. Also the feeling of the keys was very good. I was only playing 15 mins with it. Acoustic and electric pianos (my main focus) worked very well, but I also liked the other sounds (synths, guitars,organs...). I also thought the 8W speakers were enough for small quiet restaurants. In the specifications the CDP-S350 is very similar to the PX-S3000. They both have 700 sounds, 2 USB ports, built-in rythms, 8w speakers, same keyboard? Anyone has more info comparing this 2 boards (sounds, effects, keyboard,...). I just want to know what can I expect from the more expensive PX-S3000.
  8. Thanks! That's good info. I am now really waiting for the PX5S successor. MIDI is important for me, and not so much the speakers.
  9. Talking about the PX-5s sucessor. Are these PX-5s models usually more featured, with more controls, faders, knobs? more sounds? I know that nobody really knows till Casio release the PX5-S sucessor..., but I just wanted to know what to expect from this future model.
  10. I would love to see more videos of the Casio PX-S3000 in action. Specially not piano sounds, but all those 700? sounds included in the board. Do we have synths, pads, strings, mellotron,... I dont have any doubt the piano sounds are on par (or even better) than the common Yamaha or Roland stage pianos. But what about the "other" sounds? I think we have to wait for the manual to see the details of the extra features from the S1000 to the S3000. It shouldn't last much more, isn't it?
  11. The USB ports on PX-S models is for USB-MIDI only and doesn't act as an audio interface. Ok. Thanks.
  12. Can the S1000 or S3000 act as an audio interface from the USB port?
  13. Talking about the Modx8 keyboard. There have been a few reports about the keyboard itself beeing noisy? after a few months of use. You cannot buy a new Modx8 till April, as Thomann said to me (March 28th). Do you think they may be solving these issues?
  14. So what is the extra USB port in the S3000 for? Connect an external midi controller?
  15. Yes. I am talking about a sheet music stand. I didn't thought about the blank panel space. Hummmnnnn. I have a Microsoft Surface and I could use it
  16. Not by the look of it: https://usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/synthesizers/modx/accessories.html Ok. Thanks. I will have to live with that! Talking about accessories... -How do you like the Yamaha YSC-MODX8 soft case? -I see that there is not a sustain pedal included.
  17. Is there a note holder option for the Modx8? I know is a little detail, but I hate having to carry a standalone note holder to gigs.
  18. I have one question about the Yamaha MODX8 before buying. I want to use it in my studio desk, a Zaor Miza Z: https://zaorstudiofurniture.com/index.php?page=mizaz The available free height for the keyboard is exactly 16.0cm looking at the official specifications. I have measured it and it really is 16.0cm. The Yamaha MODX8 is also 16.0cm height, according to the Yamaha web. Do you think I will have problems to insert the MODX8 in my desk? It's really 16,0 height? with or without the little rubber things bellow the keyboard? Thanks for the help!
  19. I've never played a P90. But looking at the specs it had the GHE action, which is also on my CLP-130 Clavinova. I'd say that the MODX8 was not bad but that it is not all that similar to the P90. It's more like the P115 action (GHS in both). It's lighter and more plasticky in my opinion. The GHE is also lighter than most pianos, but is more "solid" feeling when you press down. Just my two cents. Ok. Thanks for the info and opinion
  20. Sorry for the old reference but, Is the keyboard of the MODX8 similar to a Yamaha P90?

    SP6

Thanks everybody for the answers. The other day I had the oportunity to play a Roland FP30 and I liked its piano sound and also the action(the man in the store told me it had escapement like real piano actions). It felt very good for piano playing. In Europe a Roland FP30 is half the price of the SP6 500 vs 1000 more or less. And I only need the acoustic piano (for now) so. In fact, I also had the oportunity to play a Casio CDP130 (300) and it surprised me how well it felt playing piano sounds. Almost as good as the Roland FP30, but without the ivory keys and without the escapement. I know I will be happier with any of them (for piano playing), than with my now sold Kurzweil PC3.

    SP6

I have just sold my Kurzweil PC3. I really liked its Rhodes, cp80, Wurly and Mellotron patches, and some of the synths. But I really hated the acoustic pianos and the action feel when I played it. I am now mostly doing gigs with 95% of the time playing acoustic piano sounds. Do you think buying a new SP6 is an improvement in acoustic pianos, and keyboard feel, coming from a PC3? And it's 5kgs less
  23. So this is my car with my Kurzweil PC3X in it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8640960/16042011725.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8640960/16042011726.jpg Anyway. My ideas are more clear know. If I want more portability I need to buy a 73 keys. The new Nord Electro 3 HP is maybe the best option (but very expensinve). Maybe I need to reconsider using a 61keys for some gigs (I like the new Motif X6). Thanks for the help.
