  1. I've been meaning to pick up some Cherry Audio stuff through here but the timing hasn't been right yet, unfortunately. Would still like to when finances permit but I will understand if I end up missing the boat.

  2. Having a hell of a time figuring out how to program vibrato on my Summit. I know I have to use the mod matrix to program an LFO but I can't figure it out and I've got a gig tomorrow.

Yes I've read the manual and googled and youtubed, I know it's a relatively simple thing, I'm on a time crunch so please just help me out and leave any comments at the door, thanks.

  3. When you say Jimbo, I think of the guy getting paid large sums of money not to coach. But yes, it's a big money game nowadays. And as usual, the people behind the scenes make out the best.

And now, begins the poaching of both Alabama and Washington's rosters... and then Washington will hire someone, which unless it's Ryan Grubbe, will mean another transfer domino.

  4. The cost of buying themselves out of the conference is prohibitive, I believe over $500M, due to the length of the TV deal. They do not have much of legal case, either, although I'm sure they'll waste some money on it just to appearances.

From what I'm reading about the Bama job at this moment, though, DeBoer is the clubhouse leader. IMHO, he's probably also the best hire possible since Lanning recused himself. Not sure if Kirby has eyes on being the guy after the guy or if he wants to stay at UGA forever, but he's clearly not going anywhere at the moment. I haven't heard Monken's name at all TBH, I think he's staying in the NFL for a while. Have heard Bill O'Brien, but I think the Alabama brain trust knows he would be starting on thin ice with the fanbase.

  5. And hey, they might lose their coach too! Norvell is near the top of many hot boards and there were some happenings in Tally yesterday (emergency team meeting, AD rushing to the facility, etc.)

Would be amazing for us UF fans.

Think Lanning played it well. Heard them out (there was a flight tracked from Eugene to Tuscaloosa), let the rumours fly, then made his position clear to recruits and boosters. Between having one of the best young coaches in the country seemingly committed to the program for the long run and the Phil Knight money, Oregon isn't going anywhere. B1G programs better watch out.

And yes, in defence of Michigan and Harbaugh, it's apparently quite widespread, it's just that they got caught. The distinction with the FSU sanctions is that those are recruiting violations (and I don't think the player ended up at FSU), whereas Michigan's are about on the field sign stealing. Also, while those are the most significant NIL penalties so far, Miami was in hot water over their recruitment of the Cavinder twins last year (WBB).

As an anonymous quote from an assistant AD (I believe) I read the other day put it, "Vanderbilt is the only pure thing in college athletics, and we all know that Vanderbilt sucks."

  6. Well, I wasn't around this thread (or the forum) as much as I may have liked this season. Florida's confoundingly disappointing and mediocre season maaaay have had something to do with that... but mostly, I was busy IRL.

Anyway, other than the satisfaction of seeing an undefeated FSU season end in, well, that (should have joined the SEC when you had the chance, losers), this 8 second clip of Chip Kelly after the first half of the first game of the year was my favourite moment:

Those semi-final games were incrdible, though. When Texas got the ball back with 45 seconds to go because of a Washington injury... had me thinking we were setting up for another Miami-GTech.

Looking forward to the championship game. Pulling for UDub. Penix and those receivers are hot hot hot and screw the sign-stealers. Plus I made some nice friends from Seattle last fall. #PurpleReign

New Andre 3000 album.  Yes he was a famous rapper in the past, but these days he seems to be more into playing flute and wind synth, and jamming with avant-garde jazz musos.   Lineup:

Andre - flutes, wind synth (likely a Roland Aerophone)

    Nate Mercereau - guitar/guitar synth

    Surya Botofasina - keyboards

    Carlos Nino - percussion

Finally listened to this this morning while making breakfast. Really nice, plenty of beautiful synth textures. Nice meditative morning vibe.

  8. I dunno about the mono vs stereo thing, I just ask the tech what they want from me. But I also have always considered my ears to be pretty bad lol. I can barely ever discern the tone chasing stuff guitarists and bassists do, never mind a studio mixing engineer.

Do you mean taking more liberties with sound design because the systems can reproduce sounds more accurately across a wider frequency range? Capabilities at the mixing board could probably factor in as well. Definitely some pretty impressive systems in larger rooms and festivals. The whole dubstep being mainstream era and EDM as a whole taking off has forced production companies to have the best of the best on hand.

  9. Have them watch a bunch of Lenny Castro videos and proceed from there.

Also, while you're going for a 90's pop vibe, consider finding inspiration elsewhere, such as hip-hop (I mean, percussion loops, hello!). Early 2000's especially, which is conveniently also the prime era for The Neptunes, who made great use of stacking loops of acoustic sources to achieve similar results as their more MPC/drum machine-oriented peers.

  10. I'm sure they'll sell plenty at the current price point.

Enough to cover the R&D costs? Too soon to tell. Enough to continue to tilt the market landscape in their favour and make life increasingly difficult for smaller companies? Yeah, I'd say that's likely.

OK.....geez drive down from Edmonton? There must be something else between here and there.

You're right, I should probably look into it a bit more, but I guess I'm only spontaneously serious. But yeah, when I hear a price like that... the only two real Hammond consoles currently available on local classifieds are a '75 B3 and an undated C3. Both are supposedly in excellent condition and come with a 122 each, but they're listed at $8,050 and $5,500 respectively. So... yeah. Let me know. Lol.

  12. Some great names so far, there really is a healthy scene out there these days.

A great player I learned about here years ago who probably doesn't get enough attention is Red Young. At the time, this band (Black Red Black) put a record out that I bought on Bandcamp and quite enjoyed. Interestingly, the record is no longer available and I see almost no mention of it online anywhere. Regardless, Red is still active with several groups, I believe.

Another nice trio in a blues setting (w/ traditional LHB vs Lachy having an electric bass player) is Matt Schofield with Jonny Henderson on B3.

And of course, as has been said, we have a wealth of resources and excellent players here on the board. Jim, Mitch, Brian, Bobby, Todd, etc etc etc. I quite enjoyed this clip JoJoB3 posted recently. Has some nice ARP textures as well, and Will Bernard is always a bonus too.
