  1. Power conditioner did not fix the issue. Took the Artis to the repair shop I used in the past for a SP4-7 and gave tech the link to this thread for instructions as issue is not reproducible. Four months later, tech still is waiting for repair instructions from Kurzweil.
  2. Want to follow up with what I found out about my Artis 7 malfunction. I did contact Sweetwater and they had not heard of the malfunction and were not willing to contact Kurzweil on my behalf. So I posted in a Facebook Kurzweil group and got a response that it sounded like a power issue, that these synthesizers need clean power. And Tom said above that the problem is faulty grounding of the audio input. I realized the outlet I was using in the garage (for covid-safe practice) also had a small refrigerator plugged in, and that the compressor kicking on likely was the culprit. I unplugged the refrigerator during practice and have not had the issue since. It also occurred to me that I've had a problem with sounds going dead or switching during gigs and that Michelle only experienced an issue while playing gigs. I'm going to buy a Powervar power conditioner to use at gigs. For those of you who use power conditioners, I'd appreciate hearing your opinion on whether it will take care of my problem and which model I should buy.
  3. Michelle, were you ever able to get the problem fixed? The Artis 7 I purchased in 2016 developed this problem recently. Kurzweil rep said to take it to a repair shop (standard non-answer). I bought it through Sweetwater so I may ask them to look into the issue as well.
  4. 1. The female singer wants to work up songs with me that we would perform in restaurants, songs along the line of Jimmy Webb and Bonnie Raitt. These gigs would be easy to find, but I'm not sure I can shoulder the entire accompaniment myself. 2. Plan to set up a DAW in my basement and write songs. 3. I'm drawn to joining an originals band, because Portland has a great music scene right now with lots of bands looking for keys. I plan to travel quite a bit this year and don't want to leave a band hanging, so may wait until next year to pursue this.
  5. Excellent live performance, scottasin. Clean, organized sound with funk, and most of all, lots of energy. I'd like to hear either you or the guitar play the harmony line on the signature Frankenstein riff. My band completed mixing our four demo songs (on Cakewalk Sonar 1.0 in a friend's basement) just in time for our band to break up because our drummer is deploying to Iraq. We aren't going to look for a new drummer because the bass player is really too busy to play in a band and we need to dump the rhythm guitarist. (When I try to work on vocal harmonies, he says, "Just sing what you feel, close enough.") Our only original is Home to Me. A bit dated to my sensibility, but the audience always dances. Nasty Habits
