Mitch, what did you think of the XK-5 overall? ....are the multi-key contacts all they are cracked up to be?

I think they compensated for the high trigger point with the stiffer action. That being said, my Legend Live loosened up after about 2 months... Still my favorite clone. I AM interested in trying the SKx

Id like to add a dissenting opinion, if I may: A crucial feature missing on all Crumars is the 11-pin Leslie socket.... you can get their adaptor or use a trek, but..... Also, as to essential aspects like Keyclick, percussion, overdrive: Mojo is Ok with all, but I find Legend holds up better over time in real world situations than Mojo....although many folks say its taste. Digtal simulations all fall short of the real thing .... overdrive is tricky ....a little goes a long way, unless you are playing in a Rock context, then you need real tube saturation, but, imho, thats the key in jazz too. Yes, the action IS stiffer......but not prohibitively so... As an Electro Killer the Mojo 61 is awesome, as a single manual clone, moderately so. Also, as Jason mentions, there are build quality issues with Mojo.... I had to return 2 dual mauals as well..... That MAY be a transport issue from Italy to USA....

Dnsmo Regarding comparison with the XK3: I went to the Sam Ash on 34th St and played the Legend Live beforeand after I went. The XK is looser thand the Legend Live, both in action and latency. I just find it and HS in general less satisfying than the Legend or even Mojo or UHL Granted, I havent had a chance to play the new XK 5, so I cant speak to that, only SKs and XK3.

Yes there are 2 buttons for each set of drawbars as well as 2 programmable buttons per manual, Dockeys.

Dnsmo, I havent A/Bd the Live with XK3, but they have one at the Sam Ash on 34th st , so I will play that one again and report back

Elmer, I have not tried to gig with it yet, but I have carried it in the bag. I would echo Andys comments that you have to hold it higher than normal to the ground, but otherwise its easy,

billbosco, the sound of the Legend Live is UNREAL through the MS KP 500-S! Best non-leslie solution...although, I have heard Pat Bianchi play his through 2 Sonovox Duos and sound great, too!

Jeff- Sorry to hear of your woes! I think doulble boxing should solve your woes..... I had that problem with the Mojo.... The Italians need to invest in better packing.... Sweetwater nedds to carry the Legend/Legend Live and all Viscount products! They double box as a default!

Floppy = laggy (slow return) and sluggish

Just got my Legend Live on Friday! I LOVE THIS BOARD! It truly is the closest thing so far to the real thing.... Raw sound is glorious, I havent even used slow as my default .... which I realized that Ive done with EVERY OTHER clone, including the Mojo... Speaking of which, Chorale is truly stunning, just right. And C/V is spot on on all 3 models. I cant believe how realistic and spacious Fastis... I found myself looking around for the spinning horn! (Im playing this through a Motion Sound KP 500S) Action: It took me a minute as (to my taste) it plays supertight (stiff) but I think that that may ease up over time... (A friend had his tech switch out the springs so it plays lighter and he is in heaven,) Upon reflection, I could get used to it really quickly, and I think I will!) To compare: Mojo seems to be the best of the clones here, Nord is springier, Hammond SK is floppy, X3-2 is almost too light....but I do like it when I am feeling lazy or if I had arthritis I would use one! Controls are super clean and tight, drawbars included. My only gripe is that CV knob is a bit to close to the first set of drawbars for my taste, but again, not a big deal and Ill get used to it. Pedal to lower is great until I get my sticks... To my ear, its a little too bloomy around low A-flat, but Im sure that will get fixed in a firmware update. The 3 models are all superb. Im partial to the 50s for now. I cant wait to hook this baby up to a Leslie. Weight and portability: I think they made a mistake in estimating actual weight... it seems less than 35 lbs to me! Super easy and light. Its a bit wider than Hammond, Nord and even Mojo, but not as much as X3-2. I had to return my Mojo due to build quality issues, and I know could have replaced it easily, but my gut said hold out and I,m GLAD I did! (I dont want to throw shade at Guido and Andrea because they have an excellent board, but that was my experience...) At this price point, they can slay EVERYONE.... I also want to give props to Kraft Music and my salespersn Michael (Briggs) Brigham. First time Ive bought from them and they were great. My UPS experience here in NYC was NOT great, but thats. another story. All in all, Im ecstatic....! Thanks to Viscount and Pat Bianchi!

I am a little late to the party here: I am thinking about one of these as a casual rehearsal board, but am waiting until I try the keyboard action and feel---that will make or break it for me, even for this utilitarian purpose.... but I saw this quote from the late lamented Dana which I think sums up so much of what keyboard players face, so I am repeating it here: "Compromising with these boards blows. I heard Pat Bianchi with the new Legend Live last night at Felice 83 with Scott Kreitzer on Tenor and Jonathon Peretz ob Drums. 3 words: Get this Organ!!!! Pat used the Duovox amps in stereo and the Bass was INSANE! No shrill top octave, Beautiful, rich and full through the complete range. I picked up the side of the organ and its as light as the X3-2!!!! Leslie sim and C/V are spot on! Percussion has that ping! There's a new king of the hill in the Clone Wars! Needless to say, Pat, Scott and Jonathon KILLED IT!!!!

Gig and gear report: Pat Bianchi Trio at Felice 83 1593 1st Ave, NY, NY Pat Bianchi- Key B Legend Organ, Bass Pedals, (2) Sonovox Amplifiers Scott Kreitzer-Tenor Jonathon Peretz-Canopus Drums, Cymbals Pat Bianchi is the real, monstrous, righteous deal. His left hand is an absolutely, completely seperate entity from his Right hand and feet. A living, breathing, swinging bass player lives there. His linear playing and rhythmic sense is on another level of any "Jazz" Organist currently active and yes, that includes Joey D. (But excludes Dr. Lonnie, who is a law unto himself.) His comping is breathing and swinging, like Freddie Green or Wes. His timbral sensitivity is outstanding and his use of the swell pedal makes it truly deserving of its "expression" moniker. His bandmates were excellent and they play together like a real, working band. Gear: He used the older Key-B Duo and it sounded AWESOME thru the two little Sonovox amps. Bass for days and I did NOT miss a Leslie, that's how good the rotary sim is, and he says the new one has been improved. (I am seriously going to have to consider the Legend as well as the MAG/Diversi) He was super cool and generous with his time and I'm going to email him in a couple of weeks (after he has recieved delivery of his Legend. mate_stubb, do you know if the Legend Live has preset buttons? I haven't been able to digure that out from the spec pdf or the pictures..... i'm very interested in the Legend Live as it's closest to the true ergonomics besides the MAG custom organs, and I'm looking at solutions with and without preset keys....preset keys are preferable ergonomically but the extra 10 lbs plus the longer dimensions are not.

The alesis is cheaply made .....buy a comparable mackie
