Well, you certainly don't need a great action to coax the measly three dynamic levels out of the Triple Strike sample. I can't imagine playing organ on it.

The one he's referring to is Killer Klowns from Outer Space. My current avatar is Day of the Dead Return of the Living Dead.

I got a rock!
I watch The Great Pumpkin every year.

Dana, the first time I saw the movie referenced in your avatar, I almost soiled my pants. Hilarious!
One of my favorite horror movies. I have many. Maybe I'll change my avatar daily to feature more of them.

What I was hoping for was 73-76 weighted keys, about 30lbs, wheels on top (if any), and under $2000. I could forgo the KB3 organ. A man can dream can he not?
Forte technology for under $2k? Good luck with that. Also, Kurzweil has never had a fully weighted 76 under 40 pounds.

This one makes the weighted action Forte 7 announcement seem a bore.
Why? This new SE seems to be a Forte lite (2GB vs. the Forte 7's 16GB) with an action (TP100LR) that is inferior to the Forte 7 (TP40L). I know which one I would rather have.

Oops. Maybe I should've included a spoiler alert.

Straight Outta Compton was highly entertaining. Lots of synths on display too: Minimoog, DX7, Juno-106, Prophet T8, Juno-60, etc.

Roy is playing a free show here this week.

Finally got around to seeing Love & Mercy. Atticus Ross did exceptional work to re-contextualize the Beach Boys' music for the movie.

For the synth lovers:

Forget The Weeknd. This is the song of the summer. Jam and Lewis still got it.

I enjoyed this a lot, tragedy not withstanding.

Meh. Sounds like a track that was cut from Xscape.

While everyone was watching the Super Bowl last night, I was at the Blue Note seeing Christian Scott. His new band is fire -- slightly different than the one in this clip, losing Matthew Stevens on guitar, and adding Elena Pinderhughes on flute and vocals, and Joe Dyson on drums instead of Corey Fonville. Also, people need to get hip to Lawrence Fields (on piano).

I was always under the impression it was about condoms....You know, I still don't get what it means. I understand the literal meaning, but if it implies something else, that eludes me. As for the literal meaning, it paints an amusing image, but Steely Dan lyrics usually go a bit deeper than that. Maybe not in this case.+1
"I wanna be your holy man" is a reference to missionary.

At this moment, I'm hearing this album for the first time:

It's really quite beautiful. Potter's string writing is really nice, and the strings integrate into the jazz ensemble very nicely and non-forced.
They're playing here this week, but John Escreet is subbing for Taborn. Gonna skip it.

How's the Marc Cary album, D?
Solid. I like it more than Vol. 1.
