  1. The weird part is that the Pianet IS working but only out of one of the jacks. I've had the preamp out and put away for the last month while replacing strings and pads. No obvious loose wires. I did replace the crappy vinyl 9v battery connector with a hard plastic one, but if I did that wrong, the pianet wouldn't be working.
  2. After my recent string and hammer tip replacement, the Clavinet part of my Duo has no sound. The Pianet IS working, but ONLY out of the P jack. The P+C port has nothing. Was all working before the take apart. Any obvious things I should check first?
  3. Here’s a photo of the cocktail straw party trick. FWIW, I replaced ALL the Pianet sticky pads in roughly the same amount of time it took me to change install ONE clavinet string. Hopefully the next 5 will go quicker.
  4. I broke two old strings figuring out how to do this. Now I’m one string short (the top “e”). Can I use a .009 guitar string instead of Vintage Vibe‘s $13 [2.50+11.50 shipping] and having to wait a week for it?
  5. I hope someone’s still reading this thread. I have a Duo with only four missing strings and the rest sound fine. (i.e. I won’t be replacing the yarn with Clavigel) I read the trick above about using a straw to “thread” through the yarn but I’m not getting it. How do you know which yarn strands to go under/over? Is there a specific pattern? There are no broken ends for me to follow. Is there a video or illustration that shows the process? Thanks!
  6. I've got THREE audio interfaces and can't get ANY of them to simultaneously take an external audio signal (a clavinet Duo) into a Mainstage channel strip AND send an output to a DI or headphones out. Behringer has no phone or chat support (maybe that"s why their prices are low) Show is Wednesday and no time to order anything new. If needed I can bring TWO interfaces or use the headphone jack for output, but there has to be something I"m doing wrong. If I set INPUT to USB Audio Codec and OUTPUT to Headphones, I get the Clavinet channel strip and Mainstage. Heres"s what I have: Behringer UCA-222 (no preamp so clavinet signal is too weak) Behringer Xenyx 302USB -> I can process the Clavinet in MS and see the meters responding, but I hear nothing from the software instruments unless I press the Line/USB FROM button, but then I don"t hear the audio channel. Behringer U-Phoria UM2 -> All I hear from the Clavinet is the dry signal coming from the output jacks. (This interface was ordered recently because I"d read the 302USB can"t do both USB input and audio input, but who knows whether that"s true) Numa Compact 2 as controller NanoKontrol Midi Expressions Quattro 1978 Clavinet Duo
  7. I have a Clavinet Duo that never gets used in these days of amazing software. I'm playing a "Last Waltz" tribute show in a few weeks and even though 96% of the audience can't tell the difference between a Mainstage clavinet and a real one, I'm stupidly determined to bring it out and use an audio channel in Mainstage for processing with a phaser, an Amp sim and of course, a wah pedal. (The other challenge is that two of the Tone Switches aren't working so I have to set up some kind of EQ setting that mimics each of those) I use a Behringer UCA222 in my Mainstage rig, but it has no Input gain control and the Clavinet signal is very weak, like -15dB at the most. Soooo... I've got his Xenyx 302USB that SEEMS like it would be perfect for the job, only I'm clearly an idiot at reading manuals. Hence my post. It's POSSIBLE that this mixer wasn't designed to do this in the first place. Those look like an excellent set of troubleshooting steps, can't wait to get home and get started. I'll post back with results.
  8. Hey everyone! Looking for some basic mixer/interface advice. I"ve got a Behringer Xenyx 302USB. I"m trying to connect an analog instrument (in this case, a Clavinet) and process it through an audio channel strip in Mainstage. For whatever reason, I"ve never been able to use that unit for both audio Input AND Output in Mainstage. Doesn"t matter which input on the Xenyx I connect the clavinet to (Mic or Line or 2-Track) or which button selections (USB Play or Line In) I press, ALL I hear from the Clavinet is the unprocessed signal, NOT coming from the audio channel strip (with effects) in MS. I can SEE the audio meter moving in MS AND I can "hear' all the software instruments. I"m just not getting clavinet coming through MS. I read through the manual too many times, I"m clearly missing something. I read on another forum to create an aggregate audio instrument on the Mac, but I"m still not getting the desired result. Any help is appreciated
  9. Any of you ever play in a The Band tribute band or just know a lot about their Last Waltz gear? I"m playing a Last Waltz tribute this month, which I've done before but I want to get more authentic. This year, I"m in charge of ALL the parts EXCEPT for Garth"s Lowery, which another guy will be doing. So I"m looking for a comprehensive list of what keyboard parts (and on what gear) were played by BOTH Garth and Richard Manuel on EVERY song, even the guest artists. I"m lucky enough to own a real Clavinet ('Cripple Creek', 'Shape I"m In', etc) which I'm definitely bringing out but I"m hoping there"s a list somewhere of what synths, electric pianos, might have been used and on which songs (even the ones NOT in the movie) (I'll probably be using MainStage for everything else) Thanks in advance
  10. Maybe this should have gone in a different forum, but since I'm a keyboard player, here I am. Regarding creating transposable lyrics+chord sheets on Mac; Does anyone know the difference between Chordsmith (free), ChordPro Buddy ($4.99) and Songbook ($17.99)? (OnSong for Mac has been discontinued). I think all of them use the ChordPro format. I've tried just using a word-processor, but it's messy to get the formatting correct especially when those apps above will handle all that for you. I'm just curious about the difference between them, especially given the varied pricing. Is one of them substantially easier to use? Thanks! Note: This is ONLY for creating song sheets, NOT as a chart reader, song organizer, set list maker, etc.
  11. So does this mean the the buttons and knobs might behave the same as the drawbars and pedals? Meaning those controllers don't send MIDI until you tell them what MIDI you want them to send? I just sent this to studiologic's support in hopes of a definitive answer: I'm trying to figure out the MIDI output specs of the Compact 2x for use as a MIDI controller. The manual is a little confusing on this point. I know the pedals and drawbars can transmit MIDI data to external instruments, but what about the remaining buttons and knobs? For example, the Sound Banks buttons, Encoder Knob, Split, Effects 1 and 2, Modulation and Percussion {in the organ section}) Can those be programmed to send MIDI?
  12. Thanks for the reply. I'll probably get one anyway. For $700, I'm not expecting a Nord but it seems like a great keyboard for a lightweight MainStage controller, especially having better drawbars than using a NanoKontrol. A couple of followup questions: That's too bad about the midi implementation. All those knobs and buttons not sending MIDI seems like a waste. Especially since my NanoKontrol currently fits perfectly in the space on the Compact 2 where the 2x drawbars are. Regarding the audio interface, what I'd want to do is run a USB cable from my MacBook IN to the 2x and then take the Output from the 2x into an amp or DI. I'm not sure what you mean by "only output signals" I may have to order a 2x from Guitar Center or somewhere just so I can try it out.
  13. Been following this thread for a while. Im currently using the Compact 2, mostly as a controller for Mainstage in conjunction with a Korg NanoKontrol. And 4-5x a month, use it for solo piano or country gigs. Looking at the 2x, I have a few questions that maybe some of you owners can answer pre-purchase: Besides the drawbars, pitch and mod levers, how many buttons/knobs are sending MIDI? Meaning, could I ditch the NanoKontrol entirely ? Or is it the same as the Compact 2? Can this be used as an audio interface, i.e. Mac > Numa > Direct box. I couldnt find any audio specs. How are the drawbars? Not compared to a Hammond, of course, but say compared to using a NanoKontrol? They seem like the throw could be a little short. Is the piano sound the same as the Compact 2 (which I can only describe as adequate, but it works ok) Thanks in advance
