  1. Thanks for the responses. While wav samples are interesting, I do not have a Juno-G to import/map them to. Mapping would need to be in Kontakt or another sampler (*.jpe to *.nki). I do not have any scripting experience unfortunately. Thanks, I'll check this out as well and see what's possible. Yes I do know about Pianoteq PM, thanks for the recommendation. While I like it, and own a plethora of other piano VSTs, the Ultimate Grand has specific characteristics that are unique which is what I'm currently looking for.
  2. Hi, Does anyone know if the Fantom piano sound (X Ultimate Grand, found on the Fantom boards and also on older RD digipiano series) has been converted and turned into a VST for using in a DAW? Sforzando / Soundfont / Kontakt or anything similar. I don't mean the SRX-11 piano that was offered on the expansion cards, but the other one that was flagship with the Fantom series a decade ago. Did Roland put them in the Roland Cloud or 5080 VST perhaps? Demos on the Integra don't seem to have it.
  3. What's your favorite MUST-LISTEN TO solo Rhodes song/performance? (solo Rhodes - as in, a full song played on only a Rhodes piano, so not a Rhodes solo in a bandcontext ) Post here now. GO!
  4. Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to have a horizontal keybed visible when playing midi files in Cubase? Similar to Van Basco's kareoke player where you could see the keys being played. I'm not talking about looking at the piano roll with my head tilted, but instead a horizontal pianokeybed where the keys from the midifile light up as they're being played, clearly visible. Alternatively a program that does something similar, but if it can be done within Cubase that would be sweet. Thanks
  5. Hi, I wonder if some of you have experience setting up cam or multiple cams for recording yourself playing keyboard/digital piano nowadays? My idea: multiple cams -> for recording multiple angle video, then post-edit the content, switching between them. The goal is to show video of my performances. Audio could run through the computer (either produced by VST or audio input), but it's nice if the cam can pick up on my voice with quality, without it sounding overly thin. I know many cams don't have good quality audio. Another option I'd like to have is use a stand/tripod to do keys-overhead, but its not a must. For that I heard a wide angle cam is important. Any pitfalls I should watch out for? Any recommendations in regard to cam models? Or would you go for a certain phone model instead? Can combine phone with cam at the same time setups? Wide angle lens? 1080p? DSLR? I'm a rookie with this so some pointers into the right direction would be appreciated. I was hoping I could get things going for beneath $400.
  6. Got a question for fellow jazz pianinists I'm looking for common rhythmic LH comping patterns that function as a support for RH improvising (involving syncopation & accentuation of LH chords). Something that can applied to the LH while improvising over any jazz standard. Can anyone recommend the best book/resource or a few exercises on this that they've used and have positive experience with?
  7. I'm looking for some recommendations for buying a synth that I'll mainly use for Fish-era Marillion like minimoog D lead sounds. I don't want to use software such as NI Monark with a laptop - it'll be on stage and I prefer hardware in the way I have things set up. If it has a vocoder with mic function built-in that would be a big plus. Any recommendation?
  8. For those of you working with these and have experience, which one is best suited for which kind of playing a style and how do you use them? What kind of tone is the ventilator best at? I will be getting a clonewheel shortly (VK-8) and wonder which, if any, of these I should add to the setup (I'll be updating the VK-8 firmware first, which I heard improves on the leslie). I'll be aiming mostly for deep purple-ish kind of distorted organ and wonder if I should get an external ventilator and/or leslie to improve on the updated VK-8. Also, any of you add another tube in the chain as well?
  9. VK8 for 700 euros incl. flightcase n stand. Worth it? I keep reading from peeps I can get better, but what would you recommend for under 1000Euro/USD then in a similar pricerange? Most of the other recommended gear is quite a step up. I prefer to have one that also has a good retro stage presence. The VKs really have it with its wooden slick design. It gives you the feeling youre playing an organ, not a synth full with buttons displays and gadgets like the VR-09.
  10. Roland VK-7/8; - What do you guys think, for mostly distorted hammond rock with lots of rolls, and jazz secondary, do these boards still hold up on a pro sound quality level, compared against the rest thats out there? Both for gigging and plugging it in for recordings? Does the VK-8 have any weaknesses compared to the VK-7? (I heard the firmware on the 8 has to be updated for the leslie and distortion to sound more like the 7 - can anyone confirm this?) Any other major differences between the two otherwise to make you prefer one over the other? I plan to use it mostly live. I suppose for recording I can always tweak with EQ and use plugins to finetune/extra warmth etc.
  11. Here's our new Progressive Rock instrumental medley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAokQZZ2JBM Taken from our album Honor Way Down with 80s MTV era singer Donnie Vie from Enuff Z' Nuff and Chris Quirarte from Redemption on drums. We released it on Progrock Records recently. Feedback is very welcome guys! And here are 2 full singles from the album for a more verse-chorus progrock approach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWjZ7yxwTgI
  12. Due to a young family member having his birthday, I decided to put together a nice little jazz/progresive rock version of "Happy Birthday!" and upload it to youtube. Enjoy!
