My taxes are finally done.
A hefty scotch is in order.
As a side note, I know our Gov'ment is desperate for money but..... I mailed my tax return with a personal check at noon April 14, the check cleared my bank on April 15th. Now, that is effeciency. Our future is secure. Ho,ho,ho

Our gas prices rose to about $3.45 per gallon today with Diesel at $4.50 Just a few years ago Diesel was much cheaper that gasoline now it's more expensive. I think the increase has been from taxes.

Phil, My wife and I basically live on our Social Security plus the added income I have from buying and selling Basses. For us, the severe increase in the cost of food (30% to $40%), is very problematic. I think the cost of fuel is largely responsible for that. We have limited our driving to adjust our transpotation cost. I guess living in London is a lot like living in New York City, you really don't need a car. In our city, you have to drive everywhere, nothing is within walking distance. I don't think live music has suffered yet, everyone s seems to find the money to go out and have a good time.

Phil, you mentioned an economic downturn. How extensive is it and what are the basic causes. I believe that most of the US troubles came from the press telling everyone we were in a recession. Now, I guess we are. Things in my part of the country are stll very good. Building is good, unemployment is low, etc, The biggest stimulus must the the money OBama is spending to get the Demo nomination.

I feel that I must teach you younger guys how to simplify your life. Take socks for instance. All of my socks are exactly the same. All black. If I reach into the drawer and pull two out, they match. If I loose one in the black hole (the Dryer) I have a perfect replacement from the one that was left from the last pair that went missing. This is lesson 1 on simplicity in life. More to follow.
