The Cowbums suck.  Every game they lose is almost like a micro-mini-Super Bowl win for their opponent.🤣😎

Brotha, what a good weekend of NFL football for you!

Cowbums lose and Jayden Daniels tosses 2 TD passes as the Commanders beat the Bengals on the road.

  2. Another veteran QB who kind of had the bust tag put on him also logged a high level performance - Andy Dalton.  He led a Panthers takedown of the Raiders.

The Packers must be doing something right with their QB coaching.  They developed Love the right way, and quickly leveled up Malik Willis, who did not impress the few times the Titans tried starting him.

The Chargers-Steelers game was brutal. A number of players on both sides were injured and backups for the Steelers stepped up. Our QB Played well, he did have an interception, but he also scored a TD. The Second half belonged to the Steelers. The Defense controlled the game and and substitute players played great. The Steelers could have scored another TD with enough time on the clock but Coach told them to take an knee and let the clock run out. I think that was the right thing to do. Some of the Steeler fans were not happy with that but it was a classy thing to do. The game was already won. Another reason why I love Coach Tomlin.

Classy call by an NFL head coach I've respected for a while now - Mike Tomlin.

It'll be an interesting call for Tomlin to make now between Justin Fields and Russell Wilson once Wilson is healthy and ready to go.  A few weeks ago, Tomlin seemed to be set on Wilson as his guy.  But his team is undefeated so far with Fields.

I'm still happy with the job Jim Harbaugh and his GM Ortiz have done in rehabilitating this Chargers roster.  You only get so many draft picks every year to bring in young talent, and you only get so much salary cap space to get free agents.  They did what they could for 2024 but the Steelers superior depth showed the Chargers still have a ways to go.

Losing both offensive tackles was a tough break for Herbert and his backup Heinecke.  Harbaugh will figure out whatever bandaid for the OL he'll need for the Chiefs game in case he'll be missing 1 or 2 starting tackles - most likely some reshuflling - then have the bye week after that to lick their wounds.

  4. It was fun to see what the Jets offense looks like with a healthy and mobile Aaron Rodgers.  Just too much for what looks like a rebuilding Patriots squad.

Same thing with the Jets D.  Made the Pats O look helpless.

They look good now but it is indeed a long season.

Oh and just saw the news that Mayo elected to keep Brissett as starter.  I don't think Drake Maye will start until the Pats have been officially eliminated from the playoff race.  No need to Bryce Young him.

  5. Chargers took care of business in Carolina, rolling up 200 rushing yards, with JK Dobbins contributing about 130 of them, despite splitting carries evenly with Gus Edwards.

I don't anticipate the next opponent - Steelers - rolling over as easily for this ground-hugging Charger offense.

Surprising upset of the Ravens by the Raiders.  Losing 3 starting OL this past offseason to free agency really hurt that Ravens offense.

  6. Great interview with Jeff Baxter.  The Vertex guy has a several other great interview videos with great session musos.   But this one is particularly ironic because he makes gear for a living, yet the bulk of Baxter's iconic work was done on guitars he built out of salvaged parts, and seems like half the guitar parts were recorded direct to mixer instead of through boutique amps.  Also notable is an absence of expensive guitar pedals - no Klon Centaur needed to for awesome Skunk guitar tracks.

He did acquire some Roland guitar gear that was not cheap at the time but that was probably just part of Roland's compensation to him for his work for Roland.

My Browns need to cut bait and get rid of Watson. Another woman and suit has come forward.

If one looks at Jameis Winston as an improvement in field performance and off-the-field character, you know it's time.

I figure it's just a matter of time before DTR takes over as Browns QB.

  8. The new kickoff rules make me 🤣 as well.

NFL OT used be sudden death, with the team winning the coin toss being able to win by just a FG.  The change to allow BOTH teams at least one possession is an improvement vs. the old way imo.  Should there be no more changes to OT rules?  I'm not sure about that one.  College OT rules make it too easy to go into triple OT imo.

    Other random thoughts:

    - Jayden Daniels did alright for a rookie facing a defense playing at NFL speed for the first time.  So, not a deadly passer out of the gate but also did not make silly mistakes, made some plays with his legs, and took care of himself when tackled.  But the Bucs were just too much of a mismatch - multiple time NFC South winner vs. rebuilding team

    - Saints takedown of Panthers just too easy

    - Cousins just too rusty to lead the Falcons to a win over the visiting Steelers, whose conservative, defense-led approach proved successful.

    - Burrow, also coming off serious injury, also had too much rust to knock off against the visiting Patriots.

    - Colts-Texans was a fun watch - ok the highlight video anyway.  Stroud-Richardson should be a fun divisional rivalry to watch for years to come, assuming both stay healthy.  All 4 teams in that division have a high profile young QB.

  9. Chargers begin the Jim Harbaugh era with a win over the Raiders.  Not the prettiest performance but I'll take this Jim Harbaugh style of football over the previous regime's.  Defense held down the fort until the offense woke up.  JK Dobbins led a Chargers rushing attack that racked up 176 yards.

  10. Derrick Henry had a couple of  good runs but the Chiefs D had him bottled up most of the time.  They just had better chemistry/experience than the Ravens players trying to block for Henry.  The Chiefs D knew where Henry wanted to run and were waiting for him at the LOS every time, while his blockers seemed confused on who should block who.

The other RB Justice Hill made plays but mostly as a receiving back.

I'm guessing they'll meet the Chiefs again in the playoffs.  Harbaugh and Co. will have the OL in midseason form by.... midseason 😃.

  11. Great Chiefs-Ravens rematch.

The Ravens offense was at a disadvantage with a mostly new OL not gelling yet, while the Chiefs were already midseason form.

Despite the rough OL performance, Lamar played with a chip on his shoulder from that AFC championship loss and nearly pulled off the upset.

Came down to a toe sticking out of bounds.

So, question and apologies if it's been asked....

How well does this thing work with other instruments (in my case, VSTs)?

I've got money from a keyboard sale burning a hole in my pocket and I'm more than set for a live rig.   Thinking more of something "outside the box" for my sounds that are "in the box".  I know I have at least some plugins that are to whatever degree mpe capable (though I'm surprised a bit to read that Omnisphere may not be, not exactly).

Anyway, my interest in this is more as a controller but if the internal sounds are the best/only way to take advantage of the expression, so be it.
Also looking a bit at the Linnstrument though a part of my brain is yelling "weren't you supposed to be getting better at guitar?!?"

I like the internal sounds, personally, and feel it would be a waste to not invest some time exploring them, particularly how they respond to your touch, pressure, etc.

That all said, there were some MIDI features that were missing until the 2.0 firmware was released very recently.  You might want to watch the video about it that was posted a couple of days about upthread for more info.  Summary of new features :

    #1 save your favorite presets

#2 make playlists for your projects

#3 switch presets & playlists easily w/ program changes

#4 discover the new preset browser

#5 use press glide in external midi mode

#6 use the mpe arpeggiator in external midi mode

#7 save custom midi config presets

  13. Today was the day all teams had to cut down to 53-player rosters.

The Browns opted to have 4 QBs on their 53.  They know they can get something in trade for Huntley or Winston, which would have been wasted if they simply cut either QB.

Chargers opted to keep backup QB Stick despite a poor preseason performance.  They know the season is lost without Herbert out but I'm sure they'd rather have a backup who can be productive in his place instead of losing every single game.  Some fans beg them to trade for a Browns QB but I think the Chargers are patiently waiting for a better deal.

Alex Leatherwood was among the Charger cuts.  They took a flyer on the former Raiders first rounder and gave him a shot.
