  1. Thanks Myles. I'll try the 12AY7. It seems to be a sturdy little beast, and if you use the volume and tone knobs on a single coil guitar it helps. It's a novelty amp and I bought it on Black Friday. My Pignose sounds better!
  2. Hi Myles, I picked up a Fender Greta and would like to get some more clean headroom out of it. It is a 2 watt amp with a 12AX7 preamp tube and a 12AT7 power tube. I've never seen that before. What if anything can I do to get some more cleans? Thank You Anthony
  3. Thanks for the reply to a dumb question, but now, it's gospel because Myles told me!Have a great day. Anthony
  4. Hi Myles, I hope all is well. I've been looking at a few Boss pedals and in all their info they state that any power supply other than a boss one could damage the pedal. Is this BS or do you really need a Boss power supply. Thanks Anthony
  5. Hi Myles.Happy Holidays and thanks for all your help. Anthony
  6. Hi Myles, As usual, thanks for an expert answer. I'm going to leave those Vox speakers in there.
  7. Hi Myles, It's been a long time since I've asked a dumb question so... I know if you have an 8 ohm tube amp, you must use a cabinet that is a least 8 ohms or better. I have a Vox DA10 with 2 6.5 inch 8 ohm vox speakers in it. The amp is solid state and 8 ohms. Players on the vox forum are connecting 2 6.5 inch Jensen Mod 4 ohm speakers to the amp. Is this OK? Is it different with a solid state amp? Thanks. Anthony
  8. I thank you and my Pignose thanks you.
  9. Hi Myles, It's been a while since I;ve asked a dumb question, so here goes! Can I use a 1/4 inch male to (2) 1/4 inch female stereo Y cable to connect (2) 8 ohm speaker cabinets to an amp. In this case it's a Pignose head unit. Will it still be 2 mono speakers in parallel? Don't laugh too hard! Thanks Anthony
  10. Thanks for your quick reply Myles, have a great day.
  11. Good Morning Myles. I recently picked up a Piggy in a Box. The legendary nasty Pignose sound in a pedal. It's a 5 watt SS amp and a really nasty distortion pedal combined. I'm using it with a 10 inch, 8 ohm, Jensen cab and it's loud, nasty and fun. I'm told it's a 4 ohm amp. Does the same rule apply as with tubes? Higher speaker ohms are ok? I can't imagine it getting any louder! Thanks Anthony
  12. Hi Myles, Happy Monday! I use a EH Holy Stain for my Verbs and Tremolo. It's EH's multi FX pedal. The last knob on the top of the pedal is a Clean/Fuzz/OD selector. I would like that to be a stomp switch. Could I install a 3 position heavy duty switch in it's place? I could tap that sucka with my size 9's easy. Thanks Anthony
  13. Thanks Myles. Being a old guy, I thought it might be a throw back to the old days when we wanted the battery to die!
  14. Hi Myles, Why do pedal makers supply their pedals with heavy duty batteries, instead of alkaline ones? Thanks
  15. Hi Myles, I just picked up a Crate V18. It has a tube compliment of 3 12AX7A preamp tubes and 2 EL84 power tubes. I would like to have less gain and was wondering what preamp tubes I could use to accomplish that. Less volume would be ok too. Any suggestions? Thank You Anthony
  16. Hi Myles, Thanks for the quick response and sincere offer. I'm going to buy the Gibson pot and put it in. Anthony
  17. Hi Myles, A short while ago I asked you about a sticky pot on my Melody Maker reissue. I took your suggestion and sprayed it with Deox It, but no luck. I guess I have a bad pot in spite of its age. My problem is that I don't have a receipt for the guitar because it was a gift and Gibson requires a receipt for service. I was just going to get a short shaft Gibson pot from MS and put it in myself. Is there anything special I should know before I repair it? Thank You Anthony
  18. Thanks Myles, I'll do that. I know I'm being redundant, but you are such a great resource.
  19. Hi Myles, Last night my 07' Gibson Melody Makers volume control was intermitent at best, and really only seemed to work on full. Do you think it's a bad control or dirt? It's in my practice room, with no animals or smoke. Thank You Anthony
  20. Hi Myles, Thanks for the adapter info. I was worried about using an adapter that had a higher MA than the pedal needed. I can see that's not a problem. Thanks Anthony
  21. Hi Myles, When using a 9 volt adapter on pedals, does the MA rating, as in 100 MA or 500 MA matter on different pedals? I have adapters with 100, 200 and 500 MA and they all seem to work on all the pedals. Thanks Anthony
  22. Thanks Myles. How about that 4 ohm output to the 8 ohm cab? Thanks Anthony
