  1. I actually have an FA-06 here at the moment. I'm reviewing it for Keyboard mag. :thu:

Just got it yesterday, so I haven't really dug into it yet....but from what I hear, I really like the way it sounds.

Still not sure how I feel about the super light weight thing in general yet. I've had several keyboards here for review that fall into that category (Kross, MOXF, VR-09), and my XK-1c is also way light weight. I guess as long as they stand up to the rigors of the road, it shouldn't be a problem.

    Hey Dave,

i was wondering, have you used the sequencer much on the FA yet? Im wondering does it have the easy ability to copy and paste bars (as the Fantom g did), and does it have full quantise options, strenth percentage etc?

thanks! Seems like a great board to me

  2. I haven't been excited about anything they've done in a while.

The Jupiter 50 and Integra 7 are pretty cool pieces. Though not without their requisite "scratch your head" design decisions.

On a side note, any chance an Admin can shrink the pic in the first post so that the whole page isn't so wide that those of us with laptop screens need to scroll left to right just to read posts?

yeah, this is a PITA to read

  3. Thanks Mike. Elisa is "the white girl". :) If you ever wanna cut something with her, lemme know and I'll hook it up. She's great at anything. Always delivers the goods no matter the style that's required.

Niels!! Loved your tracks. Had to listen twice already. Post more!!!

Yikes, I know her, amazing. That would be amesome, can I presume she will record tracks remotely?

  4. LOL! I remember that spot. It was for a shoe store.

Glad you dug this singer. She's one of the bg singers for Prince. She's prolly done a couple hundred jingles for me, too. She's a pleasure to work with. Very fast and in tune. :)

Oh I saw those girls sing the after-party of a Prince show, ( Prince was rockin bass) Im not sure which one it is but they are all amazing musicians. I can only dream of recording with one of em, lucky dog, she sounds incredible and the track sounds syrupy!

  5. My good friend and I have started writing together in a collaboration we're calling 'The Smashtronauts'. We have been doing some remixes and original stuff writing for a couple catalogs out here in the wicked world of Hollywood.

This song is called 'The Future' and is kind of a modern electronica...well I don't know how to categorize it. It definitely won't be to everyone's taste here, but if anybody does have production/mix suggestions I know there are some heavies in that arena that hang out here, so I'm all ears.

    Check it! The Future

Sounds amazing Bobby. How did you treat the vocals in the pre choruses, it sounds like some kind of robotic vocoder thing at times, like an octave below. Is that you singing? Nice voice

  6. Here's one I did yesterday. The solo is pretty much just a series of licks and doesn't flow as well as I'd like for it to, but I was doing the drums and piano at the same time to get that fake interaction thing to happen. Should of re-done the solo, but I'm too lazy. :) Anyway...you'll get the idea of the vibe. Kind of a '70's throwback hit me

It sounds awesome! Do you mind me asking what you mean when you say you were doing the piano and the drums "at the same time"? Drum programming is great. How did you do that? Especially during the piano solo, very intense, how do you program such long evolving and natural beats? Unless your playing it in with a MIDI kit or something it boggles my mind... tell secrets!?

  7. Hi,

I'm Mike and I'm a keyboard player. NO! the hard part wasn't telling my parents that I'm gay, the hard part is yelling the changes night after night to the bass player and having to stand beside guitar amps and china cymbals!

Seriously though, I've been postin away here for a time and never introduced myself. I'm 29 and have worked as a keyboard player and studio guy since I was 15. I play lots of styles, I love latin, funk and fusion. I often end up playing "Brown eyed girl" but I do my fair share of ecclectic and fun gigs too. I'm from Galway, Ireland and I now live In Halifax, Canada with my wife. I really love these forums, people here are great and finally, at last....I'm not alone! Even knowing there's a name for my affliction (GAS) made me feel a little better

"one day at a time, I surrender the right to own every keyboard on the planet, the planet is ok with me only owning 7 or so. I'm not a bad person, just a sick person trying to get better...."

oh, I'm nearly always joking so don't believe a word out of my filthy Irish mouth.
