  1. Dave, I believe it means as soon as you add a Vox product to the Thomann online cart, with a US delivery address specified, it triggers this "sorry" warning that Vox does not allow their European distributor to ship Vox product to the US. Tim This is indeed what I received on the order page when I tried to purchase one from Germany sorry i was a little obtuse
  2. We are quite disappointed with Vox for preventing us from shipping to your country of choice. Please consider products of a different manufacturer or switch to another delivery country. Remove this item
  3. A trip back to the past of 1/2 and full rack piano modules and a Korg Sample grand keyboard. I never owned an MKS 20 and now I can. sort of. I ran through some of the instruments and patches pretty quickly so I can't give an in depth review but almost all of the pianos are drenched in reverb and the EPS have the obligatory FX. It pretty easy to figure out the source keyboard from the graphics of the instrument and the patch names. Most sound close to their namesakes, at least to my ears. More info from the UVI page
  4. I gather you've never actually played an arranger, then? Styles on arrangers are not the same thing as arpeggiator loops on workstations. Arrangers are designed for 'one man band' live performance. Whereas, 90% of the 'backing track' functionality provided by workstation presets will never be used in anger, and are mostly there for showroom flash. To further blur the line, some arrangers will change the pattern/bass line/hits according to the inversion or type of chord you hold in the LH, C Maj plays one pattern, Cmaj7 changes the pattern movement , at least with my arranger board.
  5. Has anyone ever profiled these home players? I am thinking they may be retired with tons of disposable income , thus dropping cash on this board. If we look at the home organs sold in the mall back in the day the price they sold for with inflation would be comparable to the Genos today?
  6. If ya gotta ask, you cant afford it.... Maybe to recoup all the R&D they put into it, but whats different than the Tyros or even that matter the S series arrangers, it seems to have very similar controls to my S970, but in no way the arrangements or phrases.
  7. Hi -- Thanks for re-posting that from my web site. :-) I wrote up some initial opinions, specs, etc. at: http://sandsoftwaresound.net/genos-genesis/ Feel free to browse around the rest of the articles, too. I do recommend the Martin Harris demo. Martin is one of the lead developers and he usually focuses on the sweetest spots in a new release from Yamaha. Montage players should smile in a few places along the way. All the best -- pj Music technology blog: http://sandsoftwaresound.net/ That quote came from a hit from a google search on "price", it was stand alone.. Had I known it was your website I would have given credit to you , I was in no way claiming I divined that price. Since there is very LITTLE right now on the board info is dribbling in . Having said that, I appreciate your work in providing more information on this board. I have an S970 and its just the cats meow. But over 5K for an arranger at this point is outside my sandbox.
  8. Yamaha Genos USA pricing Posted on September 28, 2017 News flash! The Yamaha Genos will come in one model: 76 keys. USA manufacturers suggested retail price, also known as MSRP or the retail list price, will be $6799. The minimum advertised price, known as MAP or the street price, will be $5,499. All prices are U.S. Dollars (USD). U
  9. I am glad they verified it, Tom. I had gigged with mine for 9 months or so before it started the white noise, always with a UPS dedicated to powering only it. Maybe the flaw was a mechanical issue and transporting it finally caused the ground to become unstable.
  10. I have had mine for about a year and here are my few thoughts. The soundtower editor is hit and miss, sometimes it glares back at me and refuses to load or display content, sometimes it works ok. I find if I try to import ALL the object range numbers it balks, so I have to restrict the numbers to import to the actual values. Not all PC3s translate well, there is a pedal steel patch i wish would function with all the controllers, but some variables in the pc3 program aren't in the Artis, but for the most part they import just fine and sound good. I was not raised on an acoustic piano so the keybed is fine for me and I do use the piano patches a lot but yes it is a bit spongy. The KB3 engine is great, I am still not enamored with the rotary fx, and there is no separate outputs to just run organ to for a Vent. Panning hard L or R doesn't work cause if you want just the C/V block and not the rotary its in stereo so doesnt follow the panning, just as the other sounds are in stereo. This only is an issue of you have a split with organ and other sounds, Organ alone and bypassing the Vent will work. As far as Scotts comment as an all in one board, I agree and use it for splits 3 ways and layers and dont miss the extra keys, it is versatile, I did some gigs with a wedding band that needed synth bass sounds, and there dont seem to be enough variations in the stock factory sounds, but may have been some in the pc3 libraries, but I didnt get a chance to try them because.... Getting ready for those gigs I had programmed the patches almost completed for the songs when the Artis starting emitting a LOUD white noise at random. Sent it off to Sweetwater who sent it to AM, found out there was a service recall for this malady , it was fixed under warranty, but i was out my board for 3 months, and lucky had the Kronos that I had to program from scratch for the wedding gigs in time. A new board should not have the issue
  11. ... the story of the little Dutch boy who plugs a dike with his finger. A.C. Oh boy could I get a TOS banned........
  12. Note to self: start saving money for new SS reminder to self: weighs 65 lbs, and your 65 years old and you transport gear in the bed of a pick up truck LIFTING said gear note to Aspen: darn you for presenting me with this quandary
  13. Since its a coax speaker in there in the tweet part of it ?
  14. the RMT20 code does not appear to be valid anymore for the min tremor
  15. I will have to make a call and get one to test. The video looks pretty good, very nice looking curved wood cabinet and they even spelled my name right in the credits! And just 26 pounds! See: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifiers-effects/fender-acoustic-sfx-2-channel-160w-acoustic-guitar-stereo-amp If I were a millionaire rock star I would commission you to build a one off wood enclosure SS3 for me. That wood looks gorgeous .
  16. OK actually what I HAD were Hoseas, I went with some Planet Waves and that cured it. If you want to roll your own with good quality cables and connectors I dont see why that would not be fine.I was lazy at that point, wlse I would have rolled my own. I try to avoid the molded all in one cables, also when I cut the Hoseas up they were very thin cables with minimal shielding and poor dielectrics. @ Ham&EGZ: I'm curious what cables you selected as replacements... I've been using a pair of very old cables to feed the SS that I built myself probably 20 years or more ago, good quality Belden cable with metal connectors I probably got from Radio Shack or some other electronic store at the time. They seem to work just fine and I've never had problems to speak of, but I'm left wondering if there's something I can do better? I haven't totally bought into the whole Mogami/Monster hype but I've got an open mind about it and I'm sure they're great from a reliability standpoint but I wonder if they really improve the sound (& I know this is a ripe topic for a thread of it's own!). Sweetwater carries many brands... ProCo, Monster, Hosa, Planet Waves, Rapco, Mogami, etc and I am considering a cable upgrade at some point just to see. So which ones did YOU go with?
  17. Mr Aspen, I am 63 years young, I have played music since I was 8 years old. I have opened up for country stars in various venues backed up some soul artists played for mardi gras tableus, and real dives and everything in between but you know whats on my bucket list?? I would love to meet you in person and hang with you for a while, it may never happen, but to meet the man in person that changed my audio sensation and made playing a joy again by his one product, well that's my nirvana who knows maybe one trade show or trip we may meet, till then good luck with your lifes journey
  18. A PSA, not coming off like a jerk, but 129 pages lots to look thru lots to miss POINT ONE Apsen is a ONE MAN operation, hes been thru a lot, lots of challenges but considering all and I had the opportunity converse with him I think he is finally realizing one dream , and that is the SSV3. Some may want a bigger ss3 or a matching sub, but realize, its his baby, and he has to nurture it. WIll he ever consider a SSV4?I dont think at this time frame. AFA letting someone else pick up production, he had experience with Fender, and I will not speak for him, but reading all I saw, I would be hesitant to let someone else take my baby and throw it out with the bath water. POINT TWO the rare the SSV3 sounds bad I had a similar but not quite as bold issues, my first problem was gain staging with an SM10 , I got rid of that mixer in the chain instead of fighting it I am one one board now, but can go into the others aux input if I need to run two boards the second was CABLE QUALITY oh I thought I had the best cables possible, Wrong!!I replaced the cables from my keys to the ss and all of a sudden, no more spatial, overload, frequency problems.. Having said that, it is quite possible the poster had a bad unit, but Aspen and the vendor will make it right finally , there are a few who it just doesn't work for ALA DB, and thats OK I like chocolate, he likes Sherbert, its a big world, just please don't crap out the product, but post constructive criticism, you have certain audio requirements that the SSV3 may not deliver , and thats OK
  19. I originally purchased one of the first CPS covers offered, and although very durable and form fitting, I suffered some bent knobs from transport. I have since purchased and am using the gator mixer case mentioned in this thread. It offers great protection, and when not using my bass amp, provides just the right height to set the SS on .
  20. . GPA 720 I think you can get it somewhere else for $10 or so less if you want to webshop around. I think someone mentioned B&H photo... B&H is selling those for $95 today !!!!!!
  21. I wonder if Aspen would consider developing a suitable sub for the SS3? There is a nice little fanbase developing for his product, who might be proud to own the "matching set" When I broached this subject with him in a previous post and offline he understandably wasn't thinking about that, and rather wanted to focus on the SS itself. Simply because the Behringer at 299 is hard to beat, and I think would cost him more than that to develop and market.
  22. Like Bernie, I am considering these two units as well and would welcome any feedback. What is the difference between the Behringer, which is advertised as a "Sub", and the GK, which is advertised as a "Bass Combo Amp." Well I can think of one advantage for the bass amp. If the SS failed during a gig, you could plug into the bass amp and finish the gig(or like I did, forget to pack the SS). you can roll off the mids and highs on the bass combo and obtain a quasi roll off effect.
  23. Another lightweight bass amp is the TC Electronics BG250-112, 35 lbs, although it doesnt feel that heavy,,250 watts one 12 inch speaker, I picked up up at a pawn shop for 175 bucks, although this amp seems to be only available thru Guitar Center.
