  1. I'm what you call a midiot, so sorry if this question is a little in left field. I know you can control one synth with another synth's keyboard, but is it possible to literally "swap" keyboards such that what is coming out of the top board is played on the bottom keyboard and what is coming out of the bottom board is played on the top's keyboard? The reason I'm asking is that the horn lead I want to play has the right sound from the bottom board, but the keyboard action is faster on the top and my "normal" playing routine is right hand on top, left hand on bottom. I have a Kronos 2 on top and a Nord Stage 3 compact on the bottom. Thanks for any input.
  2. Guys, I have been going in circles for days on this. I have a combi in my set list and when I hit that, I want a specific patch to come up on my Nord Stage 3 via midi. The input I've received mostly say "this is easy", "just set the midi channel and patch number to what you need in the control surface and it's done". To someone who's brand new to this aspect...it's not intuitive. Can someone please give me a basic, baby style walk thru of each step required on the Kronos to get this done? Specific things including where to input the needed info for the Nord, what that specific input that is, and all that needs to be done with global settings, combi settings, and setlist slot setting. I will be eternally grateful....
  3. I just ordered one! Fingers crossed... Thx for the recommendation. 1/2 price the MidiJet, even with shipping from Hungary. And Chick Corea endorsed (RIP). Mark
  4. I bought one of these systems in 2007 and it still works perfectly. The receiver runs on batteries, so you can velcro it anywhere. -dj Thanks for both inputs on Midijet. Like everything else these days, they are out of stock everywhere! Mark
  5. Probably beat to death subject, sorry (search engine down), but who can recommend a stable, reliable wireless midi system? Have been using the bluetooth wireless on the Vortex...complete fail. Stuck note hell. Really would like to continue doing some tunes with keytar, but need an aftermarket system and works! Thanks, Mark
  6. They actually have some on sale here in the Philippines, at a cheaper price than in the U.S. (because its on sale until the end of the month I think). Might still end up cheaper with shipping & all to there. https://www.korg.ph/kronos Thanks, but they said the are not able to ship to the US and I needed to contact Korg here. pffft.
  7. Dave, I agree, but hadn't thought about it until your post. I have a V2-61 now, but thought I'd try to find a "newer one" and get red or "vanilla" while I do it. Mine's 2016 and I love it...worried about it going belly up with 5+ years on it and (I've heard) some parts not available anymore.
  8. I've looked over the last few days for a Kronos 61 SE or Titanium, and so far, have not been able to locate ONE in the US, new or used. Can't be true!? Are these like gold now? What might I be missing?
  9. Haven't been able to get to the Korg Forums website for a couple days? Anyone know what's up?
  10. Because I had such a horrible experience with you Alesis Vortex and that wireless midi. I would have stuck hanging notes about every 15 to 30 seconds.
  11. I looked at the AX-Synth manual and checked out a review. One MFX per Tone, and patches are saved at the Tone level. You might be able to edit sounds at a 'Partial' level with the editor, but the only effects allowance I could see was MFX per Tone and individual patch level to a global reverb. I played one of these while sitting-in at a friend's gig back in 2014, and what struck me was how well the MFX were tailored to the Tones - of the half dozen or so I played. So if the "guitar distortion amp" MXF defines the sound of that organ patch for you, it could be worth playing the sound through a rotary FX pedal (The flipside of what KuruPrionz suggested). I connected a Roland RD-2000 to a Lester K pedal for a recording a few years ago - bypassing the rotary effect in the RD, but keeping the amp sim that defined the tonewheel patch; it worked very well. If you connect your AX-Synth to a Ventilator, Lester K or similar unit, you might find the sound needed; then simply click the bypass on the pedal for your other patches. Thanks very much for the input. I had seen on the editor program that you can chose what tone to use when you change an effect, but everytime I chose a specific tone to change the effect, when I change the effect, it changes ALL the tones to that same effect. Not sure what I'm doing wrong... Yes, I may just get a distortion pedal and put it in my wireless chain for the AX. Just frustrating that the software isn't "behaving" like it's supposed to...
  12. Thx. I just want to use this for 3-4 tunes during the night, so I can dance around and act like a fool. . I have a Kronos and Stage 3 for everything else. I tried to use an Alesis Vortex 2 and the MIDI wireless is total trash.
  13. Thanks but my point is, unless I'm not understanding, is that it appears there is only one MFX effect that can be used at a time. Currently this patch uses a "guitar distortion amp" MFX to give the patch the aggressive gr, and if I change that to the VK rotary effect, the patch loses all of the grit and is just a plain organ now with rotary.

  15. Well, it appear that I can have either the distortion effect (AX Distortion Organ) OR the VK rotary effect but not both..... Ugh.
  16. Thank you very much Tom! I looked at the Edge and just didn't want so spend that much at this time..... looks great however! So, can you route this rotary effect to the modulation bar? I can't see how, if it's possible, while using the editor. Again, much thanks! Mark
  17. I'm testing out a Nautilus and find that the touchscreen can be slow to change once somethings pushed. Seems like the early Kronos, which was improved on with updates. Is anyone else experiencing this on their unit? Also, occasionally some keys will sound and then stop until hit again. Or some of the tones fade away when held until held again, then. they sustain. Again just wondering if the board is bad or the software is still buggy....
  18. Just bought a used one. Won't use it much, maybe 4-5 songs a night. The organ patch works for what I need, but found that there appears to be no leslie effect for it? Am I missing something, or can I route that a leslie effect to the modulation button in a latch mode? Thx Mark
  19. Totally fed up with the wireless MIDI system in my Alesis Vortex 2, connected to my Kronos. Stuck notes constantly. Slapping the panic button about every 15 seconds. Does anyone know if the Roland WM-1, along with the WM-D1 dongle will work at all, and also BETTER than the built in system in the Vortex?
  20. I've looked for solutions to similar challenges, with both music gear and other stuff; and the search typically begins in a hardware store. For your case handle, a place to start might be in the pipe insulation area. Look at hard rubber wraps - especially for small diameter pipes. I've also seen reels of larger diameter, soft plastic tubing that might work. A piece of that could make a capable handle. Thank you. This is a great idea!
  21. I have one of the SKB keyboard cases that has the small rod-like handle (shaped like a U), with a hard plastic black cover around it. Horrible handle! Anyway, kills my hand. Does anyone know of an aftermarket pad or cover of some kind to make this handle more comfortable? Or any DYI that's been successful....aside from just wrapping duct tape around it! Thx, Mark
  22. I find very little in the way of availability in the way of Stay Music two tier keyboard stands in red, or really any color. This would be the 1300 tower series. Are they stopping sales in the US? Thx Mark
  23. I'm wanting to pick up a 1302 stand, but have read reviews that the mic stand attachment assy is bad news....floppy, won't hold up mic etc. And it's 70 bucks! Aside from a floor based boom, has anyone come up with alternate config that allows for a more traditional boom connected to the stand?
