  1. Hi, I wonder if anyone has faced any problems with those shiny metallic toggle switches in the CP/YC front panel? Some time ago I ordered a YC73 and have to say that for many ways it would have been a good fit for my needs. But those switches, they were very wobbly already in that brand new instrument. And having them in the front panel seemed to be a request for troubles.. So, after some reasoning back and forth, I returned the instrument. Just could not trust that it would have been robust like for example my Nord Stages (1...3) have been. J
  2. In my opinion, it`s kind of silly to complain about the prices of his kind of merchandise. The seller can always define his price and customer can only decide to buy or pass. Perhaps if it would be a question of necessity item like bread or beer, but it`s not. If one cannot digest the price, go with some other brand. This is no charity business. Personally I think that I`ll also stick with my Stage 3 for the foreseen future. But if the 4 had clear improvements in organ and epiano tone area I`d be ready to pay the asking price. Unfortunately any other available option doesn`t do it either because I`m already so used to the single (carry) package of usably good pianos, epianos, organ and knobby synth. Every other option would mean at least two boards and/or flirting with SW instruments. Kurzweil would perhaps be close, but the organ... and how`s the K`s knobby synth? Recently I purchased an YC73 as a potential contender. The organ was good as were the pianos. But it would have needed some kind of supporting synth device. Unfortunately the external controller features appeared to be very unwieldy. Hence, back to the shop went the YC. Jyrki
  3. I wonder if these MIDI port settings can be part of the live sets? Changing between port 1/port 2 setting by changing the live set preset.. this would make usage of an external keyboard and iPad really flexible. J
  4. That's a good point. However, currently the YC73 seems to be next to impossible to find anywhere here in europe. But I'm in no hurry and should perhaps just wait until can find one. J
  5. That looks promising.. exactly what I was looking for. And once again a good reminder of RTFM.. Jyrki
  6. Basically I'm just looking for to be able to play the Ipad instrument with an external keyboard, but route the external keyboard midi via CP73 to the ipad in order to store the setups in the CP as live sets. I hope this makes sense... Of course I could always connect the external keyboard directly to the ipad, but that would most likely mean that I would loose the convenience of single usb cable connection between the ipad and CP. And In this kind of setup I could not play the Ipad with CP keyboard at all.
  7. Hi, There's lots of informative discussion about Yamaha CP73 here and even the brilliant interactive review, but I didn't find this specific information anywhere there. Perhaps someone can advice. So, here's the question: If an Ipad or some other sound module is connected to either the usb or midi out port of the CP, is it possible to control it with an external keyboard connected to the midi in? I quess this feature is elsewhere called sw midi thru. The thing is, as my playing has recently become more and more rhodes centric, I'm thinking the CP73 would be a good all arounder board for me. I've tried it out several times and the somewhat compromised keyboard feels quite ok. Still, it would be nice to accasionally add some outboard sounds, thinking for example B3x here, but the 73 keys just feel a bit cramped. The 88 model is too heavy.
  8. Does Kontakt Player already work ok with Apple M1?
  9. Cannot argue about the volume pedal vrs. Hammond expression behaviour. However, it's a fact that there are two different "standards" of "sweeping type" pedal wiring. And the difference of them lies in the tip/ring connections. Othetwise there's really no other circuitry inside these pedals, just a potentiometer. If you have pedal response problems, this is something worth trying. Jyrki
  10. I use the FV500 with Mojo Classic Suitcase. To make the combination work properly you need to modify the connection/plug ( or make an adapter like I did) by swapping the tip and ring wires. Without this modification the response is, shall I say, odd. Still I admit the FV500 mechanical movement range is a bit short for organ expression use. But this is a matter of personal preference of course and I'm fine with it. The old Korg expression pedal I used earlier was ok without any modification. Unfortunately it wasn't too robust and did eventually brake down mechanically. Jyrki
  11. It is a war regardles of techical or what ever measures. 2.5 milion have left their home country already and refugees are coming to Finland too. Perhaps political, but no, any synth does not matter. J
  12. Oh my, I`m not sure if I can fully follow you guys - not a native english speaker after all, but.. This is not the first time when using some common engineering jargon in non-engineering context does cause amusement. But it actually works the other way around too - using muso jargon in engineering circles does usually rise some eyebrows too;) Jyrki
  13. Hi, I do also own a Mojo Classic and do like it a lot. It has worked mostly ok altought I recall getting it to hang up once or twice during the year or two of ownership. In those rare occasions I don`t recall having any specific hints of esd/static charging happening. The thing just hung up without any obvious reason. Luckily(!) due to obvious reasons there has been very little gigs happening lately and these few glitches happening at home studio haven`t bothered me at all. I also happen to have two degrees in electronics and radio engineering and currently work in the R&D of a company designing and manufacturing sensitive measurement equipment. My humble opinion is that any signs of issues like hung ups due to static (dis)charging are signs of some HW design fault(s). Protecting the electronics against static discharge (ESD) issues is a fundamental requirement when carrying out professional electronics design tasks. It`s not black magic, but not exactly trivial either. I have owned also the original dual manual Mojo and Mojo 61. Both served me well without any proplems like this. I also want to repeat that I like the Classic and wouldn`t hesitate to gig with it were it`s otherwise possible. But my rare gigs are very low profile - in other kind of situation I might consider at least to have some back up. Jyrki
  14. A plugin emulation actually does exist... see for ex plugin alliance. I have no glue how good it is, and having briefly tested the real Knifonium, suspect that the sound and soul are hard to replicate. But you can sure save some cash by going the sw route. And Jonte sure has quite high standards and work ethics. Hence he would propably not approve any substandard Knifonium emulation either. Jyrki

  17. It's propably true that Stage 3 is not as deep synt as the multi engined Kronos. Also, Stage's synth presets do not do justice for the A1 synth engine which is actually quite capable. Therefore, it's perhaps not the best tool for a player who is mostly relying on presets. But if you're willing and interested in to sculpt your own sounds, I bet it's not going to disappoint. Jyrki
  18. That may well be the case - 50kB sure doesn`t yet tell anything about the throw length.. Jyrki
  19. Hi, 50k B hints that the pot is 50kohm (50000ohm) and has linear taper. Letter A would indicate logarithmic taper. I can`t see that Yamaha would bother using some custom/extraordinary type of potentiometer for a bulk product like the expression pedal anyway. Jyrki
  20. After some alarming health issues resolving to not be serious after all, I decided that life is too short to live without a Prophet 6. Ordered one in Wednesday and it arrived yesterday... didn`t sleep too much last night.. The first impression was that if the Nord A1 would have this good keybed, I propably would have kept it too.
  21. Hi, I also realize now that my previous comment really sounded like whining. That wasn`t exactly my purpose. Was just talking out the normal reaction of a customer when the early exitement turns into partial disappointed. Nevertheless, I very much think that Guido has been and is doing wonderfull work. It`s just impossible to please everyone, I quess. Jyrki
  22. Of course a developer/manufacturer has full rights to design his product as he/she likes. But the customer has rights to make the purchase decisions. I think I`ll apply for refund. Jyrki
  23. Hi, Armed with the good advices from the earlier posts in this thread, I made some more trials with the vb3m iOS. Put the idevice to flight mode, shut down the bluetooth and charged the battery full.. Now, this clearly helps - no cracks or pops anymore. However, the latency was noticeable and begun to annoy me after some time spent playing. I did control the app with my Mojo Suitcase and it was therefore easy to compare the performance of the app running in the iPAD and in the Mojo HW. Both do sound the same, that is very good indeed, but playability is sluggish with the app. Determined to sort out my Hammond sound needs in the SW rig, I then bit the bullet and puchased the IK Multimedia B-3x. Its ten times the price, but...well. Turned out that it works perfectly with my aging iPad Air 2. No cracks whatsoever, no noticeable latency with Mojo as a controller. How do the sounds and playability compare then? I`d say they are very much on par, B-3x maybe having a slight edge in the leslie simulation. If the vb3m iOS eventually gets sorted out, I`d happily recommend it to anybody - no need to pay the Hammond brand premium. This experiment also made it clear how important a good physical controller is for organ playing experience. The Mojo just works! Jyrki
