    4) Note that nowhere in the thread did I ask how often to oil a Hammond. It just kind of popped up via spontaneous generation, as it were. I decided to riff on the fact that this unintentional poll came out of nowhere and showed no convergence towards a consensus. Mistake on my part, I guess. sigh (Note also that not one person cited an official source for their oiling schedule.)

    5) Uh...and while we're at it, why the hell doesn't the official Hammond owner's manual mention oiling anyway? You'd think that it would be easy to find in the maintenance section if it was all that necessary. (I wish I could remember where I got the 'fill the cups twice, annually' info, but my mind is blank on that one; it's just a handwritten note.)

I got interested and found a Hammond B3/C3 service manual on the net:

    https://www.hammondtoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Hammond B3C3.pdf

From section 2-29 in the manual: «Every year fill the oil cups three-quarters full with oil.»

sounds more like buzzwords made up by academics to give them employment opportunities.

Some of us never had any training or theoretical insight at all. Those who have spent efforts in college or unversities to get a formal foundation have planned and hope to get be a professional. No blame to them.

yes I agree.  it’s a poor compromise.  either reduce the gauge or use a semiweight if it’s an all purpose board.  but I doubt they’ll ever alter it after 6 generations of electro.

You don’t consider TP8O as semiweighted?

  4. My previous experience with the Fatar TP8O include the Korg CX3, Nord C1, Nord C2, Nord Stage 3 Compact, Doepfer d3m, Viscount Legend Live and none of these have changed character over time. I can not exclude that the springs soften after being broken in but that effect must be really small. My Mojo 61 is from 2017 but very little used. Either the production of soft springs are really inconsistent or they must have put in the wrong version in my Mojo 61B I am afraid.

Guy in the bed is Morton Harkett, vocalist with A-Ha, and he’s drawn in the same style as the original video.

Morton Harkett must be the US variant of Morten Harket 😉

Someone help me out here: Doesn't it seem like the Stage 3 wasn't out for very long?  It seemed to me like the Stage 2 in it's various incarnations was around for much longer?

In reality this is the fourth generation of the Stage. They were released in 2005, 2011, 2017 and 2023. Guess when the Nord Stage 5 is planned 🤣

I am European and i am not understanding how you call a game football when it been played 90% with hands...😀

American football is a game, soccer is a sport. Average weight of players in NFL is 111.5 kg, soccer players in 2018 World Cup 77.2 kg. Must be to much popcorn and pepsi 😉

That isn't the right cable.  Isn't the SK2 have an 11 pin?

No, SK1/SK2 use 8 pin DIN (midi use 5 pin DIN). The 8 pin connection to a Leslie support slow, fast, stop.

Using the line in and external momentary switch pedal connected to the Leslie 3300 is a hassle since pressing the pedal for more than 1.5 seconds means stop. Easy to accidentally active stop when meaning to switch between fast/slow.

  9. Had a Genos for a couple of years and if you don’t intend to use the arranger features of it I would say the sounds is good, maybe on par but not better than any newer workstations. The pricing now is ridiculous, bought mine for about 3.300 euros and sold it for the same amount two years ago. It’s fun to play solo but in a band context most of the features are not really relevant.

I have the same problem, currently the only solution is to limit the key range on the controlling keyboard. Another restriction is that it is not possible to run a clean organ output without leslie/amp sim to use an extetnal Leslie.

Yes. Every as far as I've ever seen, every clonewheel's MIDI drawbar commands are hardwired, except for some of the ones that are designed specifically to also be MIDI controllers, and even some of them don't let you redefine what the drawbars send (e.g. Nord Stage 3 and some Hammonds). Ones that do let you alter what the sliders send include Korg Kronos, Numa Compact 2X, Roland Fantom, and Kurzweils, maybe Dexibell J7, I don't remember for sure off-hand. But never the "dedicated" clonewheels.

You forgot Korg CX3 (digital 2001 version)
