Myles, How is it that a magnetic pickup can capture the tonality (wood resonance,hollowness or
solidness etc.)of a guitar? I thought the way a
pickup worked was that the metal string creates
a disturbance in the magnetic field which is then
transduced. It would seem as if you would need a
microphone to translate the character of the
instrument. I know this is not the case and it
occurs to me that after all the years that I've
been playing electric guitar, I still do not
understand the fundementals of how it works.
