  1. 3:08 - "416 Soulful Brass" is a beautiful patch. The velocity modulating filter cutoff is so responsive and full range. Do you hear a touch of Env modulating cutoff as well? I've been trying to emulate this patch with DIVA. It seems simple, but there's something about the Prophet tone that is hard to match. I'm a skeptic of hardware sounding better than software, but maybe this is an example.
  2. Also on the concert vid, dig Ray Shulman's bass tone @ 3:19.
  3. [video:youtube]https://youtu.be/1km-U_Jhr2c Good concert vid. Kerry Minnear's Clav comping is like no other.
  4. Looks like some of the kids are in the family business.
  5. @ Dave Ferris: Thanks for the reply. I should say, how is it being played? To me it--the off beat synth chords--sounds like a sequenced part, not played live. If so, is the drummer playing to a click?
  6. New Frontier - who's playing the off beat synced synth chords part?
  7. What a labor doing this! Thank you for sharing it. I have a question about bass: Is the TOP bass guitar player doubling CT's pedals? There are times during his solo when CT breaks away from the basic groove pattern and seems to be freely moving around. What is the bass guitar doing at these times? I guess I'm also asking a general question I've always been curious about: How do you not have a fight over bass frequencies when you have bass pedals and bass guitar playing together?
  8. +1 on the Samson. It comes with a large silicone pad, so the laptop won't slip. It sticks so well, I leave it attached to the laptop permanently. When I have to move move it for a gig, I lift the the tray (with the laptop sticking to it) off of the tripod and stow it upside down with the short mounting post pointing up.
  9. dB, from this upstairs angle it looks like you have to crawl under the piano to enter.
  10. Mate, the Steve Winwood clip is amazing. And what organ is that?
  11. +1 on DP. It is deep, but worth learning. Eric Barker said it best.
  12. Eric, very cool what you do with the text object. How do you split the Workspace into three panels like you have it?
  13. Manually, yes. Interesting about the auto sync. I"ll look into it. Thanks.
  14. Short answer: Final Cut Pro. Explanation: Before getting the Roland Go mixer I would, for example, record myself playing piano on the iPhone video app (with the iPhone built in mic, for reference). Simultaneously, I would be recording the audio separately in the DAW. Then I'd load the iPhone audio/video track and the DAW audio track into Final Cut Pro and slide the tracks into sync, then muting the iPhone audio of course. Hope that makes sense.
  15. This does it: Roland Go Mixer It sells for around $80. It allows you to record line audio directly into the iPhone (via Lightning connector) using the iPhone's standard camera app. It saves me from the tedious task of syncing separate audio and video tracks. The line in audio quality of the Go Mixer is not pristine, but it is plenty good enough for me. It sounds like You Tube audio.
  16. I'm interested in this: Ultimate Support Apex One Hope to see it in stores soon.
  17. Somewhere I read, it's more the other way around: LH bass, with pedal stabs for emphasis. yes, he's mostly just tapping on the pedals usually Wow, a whole nother technique I didn't even know about!
  18. Looks like he's doubling pedals with his left hand.
  19. [video:youtube] 2:54 - the low note sounds like Wind Power.
