[what is your favorite brand for drums?]

Yeah, a lot of times you can find great cymbals in pawn shops. A lot of older cymbals are hard to identify, so it can be hard for the store to determine their market value, and a non musician (like a pawn shop owner) wouldn't necessarily be able to tell the gems from the clunkers - but you can.

 

I've got a Gretsch kit myself and love it... and all Zildjian cymbals. The drummer in my band just got himself a Ludwig Fab Four kit in Mod Orange - it sounds awesome!

Glad ya enjoyed it! The vocal mic was a Soundelux e49... awesome mic. Also tracked the vox through a Drawmer 1968 compressor.

 

Steve, the Mellotron was sampled, but Joey made the samples himself from a real one. And yes he does have a great knack for finding exactly what's needed for a song! I'll have to post some of the B3 stuff he did (and yes that was real, with a tube Leslie), it was too cool.

Hey all... some of you might have read my thread where I raved about a killer keys guy my band has been working with (Joey Huffman). Here is a track of ours with Joey on Mellotron, if anybody's interested! Written by yours truly.

[Band Names and Internet Searches]

Yeah, my band agonized over this for quite awhile. We all really wanted to use the name "What The...?", but geez, how search-engine proof can you get? A lot of search engines won't even return ANY results on the words "What" or "The" because they're too comon so the search engine just throws them out.

 

Though funnily enough, if you type "The Who" into Google it DOES return mostly URL's about the band. There's probably a special database entry for them.

 

In the end we just decided fuck it, we'll use the name we want to use. I suppose it's better to have a name that's easily searchable, but whatever. I suggest searching on the names of band members, album titles or something else more likely to be found by search engines.
