Dear Mr Winer,
my name is burakI have wonderful life with my love in cesme/izmir/turkey.I have read many of your articles on room acouistics and I have tried to understand as much as i can.i've been composing music since I was 8 and I've been trying to play the piano since I was 5.(the life composes everything,we are just applications full of bug to help to run the operating system called survival)I never released any of the music and the vibe that the life plays thru me.But the time is now,I have millions music in me I wanna share with the needy. I just wanna stay anonymous and I wanna bring back the message of the music and the beatthat goes beyond mp3s All my life, music shaped my feelings from bach to coltrane, from mingus to JB,from howling wolf to Elvis, from pink floyd to sepultura etc...To me the mixing, recording and mastering is the part of composing.I need your very valuable advice Mr Winer ,on the main instrument THE ROOM.UNFORTUNATELY
I can't afford professional solutions(I have never played and made music for money,I have always tried to make ends to make and play). Even the equipment I work is a loan from my brother-in-law.Just the piano and some percussion belong to me.I attach the 3d rendering of the room I tried to do with a free-ware software.1st page is the dimensions of the things in the room.2nd page is the floor plan.3rd page is the 3d snapshot with some useful notes ,
The second and third attachments is the products I can get very cheap from a friend(me and my wife try to manage an hardware store with a lot of debt).
Could you please give me specific detailed advice on my room(Which o these materials to get where to put etc)?I am looking forward for your mail
sincerely yours
burak

The materials you show look fine, but they need to be very thick for bass trapping. As for where to place absorbers, here's my general advice:

All rooms need:

* Broadband (not tuned) bass traps straddling as many corners as you can manage, including the wall-ceiling corners. More bass traps on the rear wall behind helps even further. You simply cannot have too much bass trapping. Real bass trapping, that is - thin foam and thin fiberglass don't work to a low enough frequency.

* Mid/high frequency absorption at the first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling.

* Some additional amount of mid/high absorption and/or diffusion on any large areas of bare parallel surfaces, such as opposing walls or the ceiling if the floor is reflective. Diffusion on the rear wall behind you is also useful in larger rooms.

For the complete story see my Acoustics FAQ.

There's a lot of additional non-sales technical information on my company's web site - articles, videos, test tones and other downloads, and much more.
