I have a room that is to be remodeled for a studio recording room. It is next door to my current control room. The plan is to build a room within this room for needed sound isolation (esp. since this room is bounded by two exterior walls.
The longest dimension that I can make for the length of the room is 22 feet. Ceiling height could go as much a 10 feet. Width of the current room is 16 feet, except a 4' section at one end that is 15' 3".
Based on my calculations in following the golden rule for room dimensions, it appears that my room would be 8.38' x 13.58' x 22' (Height x Width x Length).
If I wanted to splay the walls, what dimensions should I follow to keep within the golden mean for the room. Are these dimensions good, or do I need to have greater ceiling height?
By the way, there is planned a dropped ceiling below the gypsum ceiling. Should the dropped ceiling be at the 8' level or should the gypsum ceiling be at that level with the dropped ceiling below that...thinking again in terms of the golden dimensions.
Thoughts, suggestions?
The desire is to use this room to record music in the traditional, sacred genre. Therefore acoustic instruments and vocals would be the main use.
