Korg M3 - Why don't they sell the controller?

Since they just reviewed it this month
Just out of curiosity has any one seen the M3 controller being sold by itself.
The reason I ask say you buy the standalone rack, but later you decide you really want the controller it appears you are SOL.
And now it appears there is a 73 and 88 models are coming out in Aug.
Although any controller should work with the m3. It would be nice to have the option to purchase the controller without buying another M3 along with it.

Considering it's a completely new product, and hasn't even been fully released to the market yet, I'd say you're leaping to a rather large conclusion.
AFAIK, you can buy the Radias keyboard as an add-on (I believe it's special-order), so why wouldn't the same be true of the M series, once it's gotten up to speed?

after all that marketing about the ' Komponent ' system several of us on the Karma forum were surprised that Korg did not offer the keyboard as a separate ' part ' sold direct from Korg
We hear its ' expensive ' to do that, etc, etc. Korg listened to us and many of us offered what we would pay for the separate ' Kontroller ' in the 3 sizes

Greg:
So what's the bottom line? Will customers be able to buy a different size KB separate from the brain of the M3? I can see that having more than one set of keys would be a plus.
Cheers,
Mike T.

My question is how long is the cable? For sake of a compact stack I would like the M3-M to sit to the left so another keyboard can sit directly on the controller.

My question is how long is the cable? For sake of a compact stack I would like the M3-M to sit to the left so another keyboard can sit directly on the controller. Well, on the 88-note keyboard, the M3M can move far enough over for another M3M to sit next to it. There's an M3-61 at my local retailer; I think I'll stop by tonight and check it out in detail. I've also asked my contact there about the keyboard's availability after the fact...

Currently, you can not buy the controller keyboard separately. However, given the interest expressed on the Korg forums Korg USA is going to talk with Korg Japan to see if it is possible. As GregC had mentioned, Korg USA had asked the question "what would you be willing to pay?" as part of their feasability research. Apparently Korg originally only saw the Komponent System as a means for being able to mount multiple modules on a keyboard, and didn't really think about the idea of selling the keyboard separately. In the best case scenario, the keyboard controller will be available, but most likely from the Country Distributor. It definitely won't be sold through retail outlets. Bottom line, currently you should NOT buy the Korg M3-M (module) with an assumption of buying the keyboard later.
