  1. Four octaves and only 8 voices is a bit of a deal breaker, even with poly AT. 8 voices is a deal breaker? That's 2 more voices than most guitars! Plus, at this price, you could practically get a keyboard and add a module ...
  2. Been wanting to post about this all day long ...
  3. This news hit me hard last weekend. While so many of the posts I'm seeing about Aspen are from guitarists about his Tube Amp book and other guitar-related adventures, my dealings with Aspen (much like Dave's and others here at KC) were in the realm of recording and keyboards. What a creative genius, what a kind soul - I truly enjoyed working with Aspen, even when the unwavering stamina of his enthusiasm was outlasting my short attention span. Working in Sweetwater as a buyer, we lamented Groove Tubes ownership change as we watched the studio gear and Spacestations disappear. Perhaps Aspen always planned to relaunch some of those products - but I was glad to at least be a part of Spacestation's re-introduction to the market several years later. Seeing his obvious multi-faceted impact on the industry and so many different individuals who are telling their own Aspen stories, it's obvious that he led a full life, and one filled with more accomplishments than most people could ever hope for. I'd say rest in peace, but I think he'd be happier staying busy, surrounded by the sound of music or car engines - or both. Gonna miss that guy.
  4. Longtime Sweetwater employee here! I also remember when GearFest was a very small, 1-day affair, and how it exploded about 5 years ago into the phenomenon it has become. The amount of care and effort that goes into making GearFest happen, and happen better every year, would be very difficult to quantify. It truly is a massive combined group effort of Sweetwater employees, manufacturer representatives, and even support staff, volunteers, and outside companies who help us execute the event. Next year's planning begins even before this year's event is over, with specific planning meetings already happening by January. Craig mentioned this year's improved site layout for the tent "fairgrounds" - I think this was the single biggest GearFest improvement this year (kudos to our corporate architect Mandy). The new layout established logical traffic patterns for customers and made it far easier for a customer to see what they wanted to. As for the comments about how positive everyone is, I'd say the same about our customers. It really is a delight to host such a large event and have so many customers attend from so many places - and they are invariably enthusiastic in their enjoyment of being at Sweetwater and at GearFest. That's the best part of GearFest, and IMO what drives the positivity. As you may suspect, there's a wealth of notes and suggestions compiled each GearFest which we apply to making the next GearFest even better, and that process is already well underway. For those of you who attended GearFest, either as a customer, a manufacturer representative, as a presenter, for the press, or remotely via live streams or GearFest reports - thank you! We look forward to doing it all again next summer!
  5. This description hits the nail on the head for me. I saw and heard a Prophet X demonstration back in January and it was one of the high points of NAMM (but I was under NDA). The sounds that were coming out of it and the way that they were being manipulated were very impressive. Could you play ROMpler-style sounds with a Prophet X? Yes, but I don't know why you'd want to - that isn't what this is. I called it a "sample-sizer."

    OT Bikes

Dunno why this doesn't embed, but I took this on a day that I rode my bike to work. 2011 Cannondale CAAD10 The purchase of this bike was my first return to bike riding since my freshman year of college, and my first foray into actual road cycling. If all goes as planned in this, my 5th year of road cycling, I'll surpass 5,000 miles ridden in 2016.

    OT Bikes

This is my kind of OT thread! Some very nice bikes here - I'll have to find a pic of mine to post. Road cycling has been a healthy obsession for me over the last few years.
