  1. . Actually, there's arguably something to be learned in the process. You have to be more accurate, because, on a non-hammer board, just "brushing by" a distant key on your way to triggering the target may actually cause the wrong note to play That's why I like the piano action for playing organ, you don't have to be so accurate, there is a little forgiveness with the piano action, and I don't do any palm sliding anyway. With my keyboard skills, I need all the forgiveness I can get!!
  2. The CP-4 is my favorite keyboard for Feel/Touch of the keybed, and best acoustic piano sound (for my taste), I also prefer it's string/brass sounds and it only weighs 36-lbs! Great for your bottom board, but the organ sounds are very limited and for me almost unusable. I love my CP-4!!
  3. I owned the CP-73 and wasn't too happy with the "Balanced" action it had, so I sold it and bought a used CP-4(GREAT key board). Yamaha always had great piano sounds and I like their strings, brass etc, but they always had lousy organ sounds! Finally they come out with the YC series with draw bars and problem solved. I don't play much organ songs, but when I do I'm a little fussy with what I want sound wise, and I actually like the weighted key feel when playing organ. Now I just wished they made the 73 keybed with the weighted graded action like the YC-88. I don't need 88 keys, and a 73 keybed would be lighter weight for carrying to gigs!
  4. Anyone out there have one or tried one yet, and what's the low down!!
  5. On the PC-4, when in KB3 organ mode, can you split the keybed so you have the top (right hand) sound of the organ, and the bottom (left hand) sound for songs like "Whiter Shade of Pale" and song you just need that softer Hammond sound coming from the bottom keybed?
  6. The one thing I like about the Forte SE-88 is the favorite buttons it has right at your fingertips. If the PC-4 had that feature it would definitely be more attractive because of the weight and larger screen feature it has, and everyone seems to prefer the Medelli keybed over the TP-100 bed.
  7. I bought the CP-73 because I loved my CP-4 and thought that maybe I could get away with the minimal sounds (fewer but better-oh yeah), but after getting it, and trying to use what was there I realized the CP-4 was just a better board for my needs. I didn't want to wait and hope they would put the sounds I need in their updates. I bought a used CP-4 and I am selling the CP-73. Maybe in the future they will come out with a board similar to the CP-4 in sounds and keybed touch with 73 keys, and put the YC-61 Organ engine in that board! The organ section was always Yamaha's weak point, and now they finally produced something that truly sounds and navigates like a Hammond organ.
  8. I just tried the Fatar TP-100 action on a Nord Electro-5HP, and though it is not anything like my Yamaha CP-4 keybed (which I consider the best, or just about as good as it gets), the TP-100 action was not bad. I am probably not as fussy as some on the forum, but for me the TP-100 action was definately acceptable! Thanks again to all that posted and helped me out with my questions!
  9. Thank you for your help. I do have a Guitar Center here, and I do have access to a Nord Electro 5HP I can give a spin. Didn't know the 5HP had the TP100 keybed. I've read that Nord tweaks their action before they install it into their boards, but it should be pretty close anyway! Again - many Thanks, this was very helpful.
  10. The PC-4 is more expensive than the Kurz Forte SE, and the Forte 7 is way more $$! What is the issues with the Fatar TP100 keybed that no one seems to like? I have yet to hear of anyone have a good word about this keybed, and that does throw up some red flags about considering this board. The problem with buying DP's is there is mostly nowhere to try them out before you buy one. It gets a little pricey trying something out and then selling it because of one issue or another you don't find out until you physically play the instrument!
  11. Anyone out there own one? I am interested in this keyboard and would like to get some input on your likes (or dislikes) of this board. It has all the sounds I seem to need for the music my band plays, and I have been searching for a keyboard that I can use without having to bring a second board for the Organ songs. Mostly use A.piano and some E.piano (Wurly), strings and Hammond organ sounds, and this keyboard looks like it might fit the bill. I also like the "Favorites" button option it has. Thanks!!
  12. Just pulled the trigger on the CP-73. Arrives Monday, hoping forum members who own one can help with any problems I have figuring out a new keyboard. I will read the manual, but never been too tech savvy so I'm hoping it will be fairly easy to navigate!!
  13. If you are looking for a good Hammond sound and not too bad price, and light weight - check out the Hammond XK-1c.
  14. The Leslie sim on the Grandstage or the Yam-CP are both NOT GOOD. I only use the Korg at home for practice and was curious if the CP had this option.(Always used a footswitch for my Rotary speed). If you're looking for a good leslie sound, the Grandstage or the Yam.CP's are not the keyboards you want to use, and are not meant to be!
  15. I own the Korg GrandStage-73, and there is no option to use a footswitch for the Rotary speed on the Korg GS, that is why I asked this question for the Yamaha CP. You think it would be a no brainer, but it is not!!
