Yamaha CP88 and 73 - Deserve their own thread

And why is it not possible to mix the drive? Even if it was deep in the menu. The effect is far from subtle with its treble boost even at the lowest setting. -
Yamaha CP88 and 73 - Deserve their own thread

Got a chance to buy CP 73 used previously in studio only for a great price. So here I am. The keyboard feels great, the sounds are lovely (Eps and APs), form factor is nice. Only thing i miss is the flexibility. Coming from Kurzweil, the midi implementation is laughable and why is it impossible to feed the externall audio into master effect section? Other than that I enjoy it very much so far. -
What’s your favourite or most useful iPad/iphone app?

Drumgenius - great for practicing and when drummer does not make it to the rehearsal Better Ears - Self explanatory 🙂 Erskn Jazz Essentials - The closest I can get to really playing with Peter Erskine Metronome Quartet I - Slightly better sounding than the iReal Pro -
I would definitely take it as a second board. It can cover a lot of ground. The price though...

I use analog Dreadbox Typhon for live synth basses, leads and bleeps. Yamaha CP does not do monophonyic sounds so its not just a cool box but useful instrument. And intuitive interface and tweakability of analog module is so much more fun than programming the synth sound on workstation like Kurzweil.

I have Laney AH-150 for small gigs and rehearsals. Very flexible and loud. The sound is unpleasantly nasal to my ears but it must be great for stage monitoring.

My trusty Typhon can: "Audio over USB -Typhon gets recognised as Audio/USB device. This feature enables Typhon to act as an audio input and be recorded from a computer directly without the use of a sound card. This feature got implemented to support the previous described feature so as the user doesn’t have to connect the physical audio out to his sound card, and so on create a ground loop, which cause a constant buzzing at Typhon’s audio." https://www.dreadbox-fx.com/typhon/

Ok, I was a bit sceptical about rolling the bass all the way down, but somehow it works. Thanks for sharing.

Now we're talking! Mk II sounds the best to my ears and I use similar setting (but Your setting is more radical with hammers and EQ). I will try it tomorrow. BTW I regularly play this tune with my band 🙂

Hi! I an thinking about getting CP73 for a long time. I have a question but I think the answer will be "no" 🙂 CPs dont have audio in. I plan to use external synth that can do audio over usb. Do You think it is possible to feed Yamahas audio interface with sound from module via USB?

To be fair someone posted a video of Michael Mcdonal playing the Rhodes with a strong bell sound and I think the X Piano can nail that kind of sound.

Thanks, I will try this. Even on the video it is audiable that the bark is there but the body in the upper register is lacking (to my ears at least).
