  1. I've got a Casio 160, and a 560. I find the 160's action very comfortable and playable - able to play it for hours and not get fatigued. The 560's action - although Casio says it the same - is very different. Not bad, but different...still very playable. I've used them both with virtual pianos, and they both work very well. Well worth a try... I also have a couple KX88s...I haven't used them with any software pianos, but I do remember the action as being the best available at the time. But then again, memory lane is not a well lit road. Glad I don't have to move them....
  2. I've been using the Wurlie from Arturia, and I like it just fine... although I like my 200A better. Even better with the matching bench. Personally, when I think Wurlie, I think Spooner.
  3. Who could ever forget? I watched it on one of these....
  4. Synthesis is ok, but there's nothing like the real sample....
  5. First thing... Bowl of gumbo & fried oyster poorboy at Felix's. Then a stop at the Du Monde for beignets & cafe a lait. Now you're ready to go and find some music...
  6. I've always said that Hammond/Leslie clones & sims sound better when you hear them played than they do when you actually play them. JMHO...
  7. At least you get to keep the candy...
  8. I got my CK88 yesterday. So far I like it, but I've only messed around a little here at home. I'll take it to a gig this Saturday. The action is a bit stiff, but not bad stiff. I know, that's totally subjective. And yeah, it is pretty intuitive when you start fiddling with things. Not impressed with the organ. It's nice to have the controls, but the sound is meh. That's really ok, since I didn't buy it for the organ. One thing, though... the power cable to the wall wart is the thinnest, cheapest POS cable I've seen. Don't have a good feeling about how it's going to stand up to the rigors of gigging. If I'm going to keep the board, a spare power supply is in my future.
  9. I've been using a pair of Harbinger V4112's. 3 channels/eq/direct out & some other cool features. Not too heavy & pretty easy on the pocketbook. I use two of them and they kick ass...
  10. Sorry to hear about Michael's passing. I only got to work one session with him, but I could tell right off that he was the real deal. I feel for your loss, Steve. The older we get, old friends take on a whole new meaning and importance. My condolences to you, his family, and the family of friends and players that got to share quality time with him.
  11. Jeez...who knew he was still with us? I'll bet most of us thought he was one of those guys that passed on years ago. Vaya con Dios, HPS...
  12. That's it exactly...using the FC7 to control the volume of the strings. Thanks so much...
  13. Ok, so here’s the deal… I have an out of town gig coming up, and they’re providing me with a MX88. I’ll need to have a Performance with acoustic piano & strings layered, with a FC7 controlling the volume of the strings...and not just the balance between sounds, but using the pedal for expression. I’ve downloaded all the available material from Yamaha I could find, and have been going over it - a lot lately - and I can’t seem to find a way to do this. I’ve even searched The Ultimate Authority (YouTube!), and couldn’t find what I needed. Does anyone know how to set this up? Many thanks in advance… -Skip
  14. There used be a chart someone did, carefully weighing the DP keys in grams. Is this it?
  15. Q: How do you keep a drummer busy all day? A: Click here
