  1. I need a little help with the organ voicing on the intro to Rainy Night in Geoirgia. (Brook Benton). Using Dmaj7 to Cmaj7. Just can't seem to recreate the sound. Tried using different inversions, 1st inversion sounds best to me. Maybe it's drawbar settings? I'm using 1st 4 drawbars out and percussion on. Using B3-X. Any help greatly appreciated.
  2. Hello: I am interested in trying the Cubase 12 Demo on my Macbook Pro that runs Big Sur. No problem there. If I decide that i would like to purchase Cubase 12. I would also need Cubase 11 for my 2012 Mac Mini that can only be updated to Catalina. My basic question is if I purchase Cubase 12, does that allow me to download and use previous versions (Cubase) 11. With out purchasing a seperate license for 11? Thanks in advance Doug
  3. I am having difficulty finding shipping boxes to ship Rack Synth Modules. Very difficult to find a box to ship a Korg Triton Rack. Looking for something Approx. 22" x14" x 8". Where do you find the right size boxes when needed to ship gear?
  4. Thanks-- I think i will just meas my xf8 and compare it to yamaha's specs to see what they include in their meas.
  5. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if Yamaha's spec for the Montage 8 keyboard height includes to the top of the Super Knob. I currently have an XF8 with the back end tucked in under a shelf on my diy desk. I am planning on replacing the xf with the montage 8 and wondering if i will need to make a new shelf. If anyone can tell me the height of the unit plus super knob that would help greatly. Thanks Doug
  6. I'm moving my studio into a room that is already carpeted. We are renting so changing carpet for Laminate flooring or another alternative is not an option. Just wondering if any of you use a chair mat that you have been happy with. I have used chair mats in the past but have always found it difficult to move around in the chair due to indentations. My research is showing that polycarbonate mats are the most resistant to indentations. Thanks in advance for any suggestions Doug
  7. Kelp- Thanks for your response. I will follow up with SOS.
  8. Has anyone here in the States received the Jan 2020 issue. I was told by the circulation dept the US edition was mailed 12/27. I was told this by email on 1/10. Was told to wait a few more days. I have not received my copy. Just checking to see if anyone else has received their copy before i follow up with SOS or the post office. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks Adan. I actually have been considering changing keyboards. Love my xf8 but it is a beast. Actually since diving into Logic, Mainstage and soft synths i realize that at least 80% of the time i'm using it as a midi controller. I'm not a classically trained pianist but always have prefered weighted keys for pianos, both acoustic and electric. Looking at the Native Intruments S88 Mk2 and maybe a Motif xs rack. I am going to try to demo a S88mk2 tomorrow. Maybe can check out the Rolands also. Anyway thanks- Great minds think alike
  10. Thanks everyone- Some very good advice here. I think i will order some sorbothene isolation feet, and look onto a thick rubber mat. The big box stores sell tiles that interlock to form about a 1/2 inch thick mat. that just may do the trick. I think i will still install the drop ceiling, with some rock wool between the joists. not that hard to do. Thanks again Very Helpful Doug
  11. The keyboard is in the basement below the living room. As far as i can tell the ceiling looks to be plywood(OSB) . There is carpet and padding on the floor above. My thought was to stuff the area between the joists with rockwool and put in a drop ceiling. I wasn't planning to put in a door to this room but rather have an open layout, but maybe i should consider this also. The XF8 is great. It's the weighted keybed that makes a "Thump" when the keys bottom out, I guess i play harder than i realize with headphones on. Maybe i just need to find something else to do after 9PM
  12. Recently moved into a 1 floor apartment that has a totally unfinished basement. With the landlords blessing i am planning to put up a few wall partions to give me a space to set up my Keys. Nothing really extensive. The problem that i have is the mechanical noise of the keyboard (XF8) is being heard ( faintly) on the floor above (main living area). NO SPEAKERS involved, just using headphones The ceiling joists are exposed with very old R7 insulation. The basement is now heated, but walls are uninsulated. I do not think landlord will go for dry wall on ceiling as that will cover up to many utilities. Planning on putting in a drop ceiling. How effective do you think this wil be? Would adding something like rock wool be worth the effort? I would just like to be able to practice late at night without disturbing anyone. Thanks in advance.
  13. Arno- thanks sooo much for the update. All cc #'s are working as they should. Key click now works with midi learn. That was one FAST update I love this program- can't wait to use it this weekend!! Thanks again Doug
  14. Hello Arno- I tried re downloading and reinstalling both the latest UVI workstation and B-5 v2. Here is what i have found so far. I am using a novation Impulse 49 with cc# settings that match the default set of B-5 v2. In the standalone version of b-5 i can control drawbars-percussion reverb distortion etc. --But when i Move the control assigned to key click- I get a red box around the gui and the program freezes. This even happens when i try the midi learn function- as soon as i move the control to learn click volume- the program freezes. Now for the interesting part - When i use it in mainstage i am able to "Map a Mainstage controller to the click volume by clicking on the click volume knob in the gui (standard mainstage mapping procedure) I get the red box and the program freezes but when i reload b-5 everything works as it should. I only use this in Mainstage so far anyway- so - so far so good. I am using a 2012 quad 7 mac mini - 16 gig of ram - ssd- latest version of osx Sierra. Latest version of UVI. Really love this program- key click is not a deal breaker- but just wanted you to know what i've found. I quess if no one else can reproduce this -it must be on my end, but not sure what else to do. Thanks in advance Doug
  15. Arno, thanks for checking the key click cc for me. i will ttry to reinstal and see if it makes a difference. I won't be able to try until late Sunday or Monday. Spending a little time at the beach for. the weekend. doug
