  1. Dave - How do you like the action on the 5HP 73 for playing piano?
  2. That's a nice shot, Ken. You have some pretty wild photos on your website--I enjoyed looking at them.
  3. Yes, I did find it frustrating that the old links didn't work, so I wasn't able to really digest the entire thread the way I wish I could. Anyway, it's a great idea for a thread, and I'm glad it's active again. Dave, I wouldn't mind hearing the reharms in spite of the recording quality, that is if you would ever have the time to move them over. Sounds like a tech hassle...
  4. SK - Nice to meet you as well. It's nice to meet all of you guys. I wish I'd found this reharm thread a long time ago.
  5. Interesting. I always did like the sound of the API 312 preamps for piano.
  6. That's some nice playing, SK. Sounds like you guys were having a lot of fun and not thinking about the tape rolling. And Reezekeys, your nephew sounds incredible. Dave, whatever mics and preamps you're using really do sound good (and of course it's really mainly about the playing, and the sound of the piano itself). What type of mics and preamps are they, if you don't mind my asking?
  7. That's all very interesting. Before I got to the end of your post I was already thinking Keith Jarrett, in terms of the singing melody line. The piano you're playing sounds great too!
  8. That's really nice, Dave. You managed to get some pretty outside voicings in there while still keeping it grounded, and the melody was never overpowered by the harmonies, at least to my ear.
  9. Dave Frank is an excellent jazz pianist and teacher, and he teaches via Skype as well as in person. He also has some great free tutorials on YouTube. Dave studied with the legendary Lennie Tristano.
