  1. My Seaboard Block ($299) https://roli.com/products/blocks/ arrived a week ago and I am just getting familiar with the software on the Mac and ios platforms. I started out small with just the small one as I didn't want to invest in the expensive larger models and I am glad I did. I am using it in combination with another Bluetooth Le midi keyboard and it is a nice editor but I wouldn't want it as my main keyboard just yet. There is a learning curve, as with all keyboards or instruments. I have a CME 37 air https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/XkeyAir37?rkg_attid=3071863349&SID=-1&gclid=CjwKCAiAhfzSBRBTEiwAN-ysWGJxbalLlypkPRab5JdOaMSC15u5UlwzoPyb55wbFtSbSaeMAzKH2RoC5JQQAvD_BwE and I use that with the Seaboard Block. I got a great peddle steel effect playing the notes/chords on the CME and then using the Block for note/chord bending and vibrato. The Equator software is excellent and it works with the CME as it has aftertouch but not as well as the Block which is full MPE (Multidimensional Polyphonic Expression). I upgraded to the full version of Equator ($79). Also received a voucher for Melodyne worth $99. I was wanting that for transcription so it was even more of value for me. I also use the Equator software with my Roland wind controller which also has aftertouch. The Block can be upgraded by adding other Blocks so if i need more than 24 keys I can do that but I don't think I will be upgrading. Very portable and light. There are several youtube videos explaining how to set up Kontakt vsts so I can leverage that investment also. As far as I can tell the K Board Pro 4 is not out yet and long overdue. According to the specs is it not wireless. Looks like it will cost about the same as a Seaboard Rise 25.
  2. According to Wikipedia "The original uncut album version opens with a brief "free form" piano solo performed by Lamm. A spoken verse by Lamm is mixed into the sung final verse of the album version. The single version does not include the "free form" intro or the spoken verse, and was originally mixed and issued in mono. A stereo re-edit (beginning from the point where the "free form" intro leaves off) was issued on the group's Only the Beginning greatest hits CD set."
  3. I just listened to it. Sounds like Harry Conick when he plays a lot of dischord. I can see why it is out of print. I just rembered picking up the arm and moving the needle past that part in my dorm room. Funny how time flys.
  4. What makes that song great is the arrangement and just playing it on a piano or a single instrument takes away from its appeal. There is a score and a sound file at https://www.jwpepper.com/2340123.item#/. Could be used as a framework. Doesn't sound too bookie even if is for a marching band. How about, four rights make a point?
  5. I have mounted my QuNexus to my iPad Pro interfaced with SampleTank and find that I practice a lot more as I can be playing in my longe chair with headphones and not bother any one. A brother member put me on to the CME 37 wireless keyboard and that is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I am looking to sound more like an acoustic guitar or wind instrument and the ability to control other parameters on the key gets me close to the goal. I also play the wind controller but it is very difficult to set up for chords. Most sounds are set up for keyboard and do not respond well or at all to wind contro. I had a ton on iOS and Mac software looking for a good sounding VST for my wind controller. I needed to fit in to a big band sax and trumpet section and I found the sounds using Kontakt and Samplemodling VSTs on my MacBook. Those sounds didn't work when I play with a county jam group so I use a peddle steel sound and a tremolo guitar sound with the wind controller. Worked but I want to play chords so I am learning keyboard and loving the guitar sounds in SampleTank iOS. QuNexus is somewhat limited to two octaves of keys and my hope is that 3 octaves my be perfect for size and weight plus there will be no wires to worry about. All keyboards are a compromise of sorts but the "traditional" keyboard is not going to get me to my goal. I am finding all the sounds I want on IOS so I don't need to use my Mac for keyboard. I use noise canceling Bose ear plugs. Also drows out the TV shows my wife watches. Added bonus! I was excited by the KBoard Pro under development but it doesn't look as though it will be wireless so I hope the CME 37 will be a better solution for me. It is less expensive but with with a octave less keys. Who knows, maybe some day I can play it on my head like Jordan Rudess. P.S I am the only one in the group that has to log into their instrument in addition to displaying sheet music, get email, scan music, text......(note to self - turn on airplane mode before gig)
