  1. Many thanks Redknife! I asked about this some time ago....I've been trying to decide between these two for a while. You have confirmed my suspicions...But my only worry is that when pushing the SS it's possible it might break up. So I was going to order the D1200...just because of its crossover..but I think now as I also have a Kronos...and your write up was so revealing / to the point, I'll go for the EV. Again many thanks Niven.
  2. Hi again, When I said "facing you", I meant pointing at the back of your head, firing into your left ear? Sorry Niven..
  3. Hi Doug! Looks like a fun Monday Night gig! But just to confirm...your SS was behind you, on your left hand side, on a stand.... Upright or horizontal? Was it directly facing you or was it pointing straight out into the crowd? And roughly how many feet away was it from you? It certainly cut through extremely well! Niven.
  4. Hi, I'm still trying to work out what sub I'd like to buy to use with my SS (it'll arrive in July sometime..from Thomann in Germany). I stated before that I'm confused by EVs ZXA1..I think it's full range and the tops have a low pass filter....however, I've come across this Alto TS Sub12...v inexpensive, never heard of them before...but it has a high pass at 80hz...I'd be grateful for any comments re the consequences of using this sub in lieu of the Behringer 1200....I think two answers would be v helpful...into sub first and the results....and into SS then into sub and the results. Sorry if it's a bit boring for some folks, but it would be helpful. Regards Niven8.
  5. Hi, Al Coda! Thanks for replying....cause I don't really know what I'm talking about, as you may have gathered!...So does this mean that the EVs are grabbing about 18hz worth of the SS's frequencies? Might this cause some probsi (if I go the EV first then the SS..). All I'm really looking for is to protect the 8" and have a seamless " quality" join between the sub and the SS...I'd be very grateful for any advise .. Niven.
  6. Hi Tombsalley, I hope he's right! I like EVs but I came across this: Maybe I've got things wrong! ( Hopefully!). Niven8
  7. Hi, Just found a video of how to connect up ZXA1 sub to the ZXA tops....the tops have a 100hz hi pass crossover! So ZXA1 sub is full range? There's a little button in the tops thats used when you attach the ZXA1 Sub... So no way of going through the sub and filtering out the lows before you hit the tops. Regards Niven.
  8. Hi Tom... I m very confused as to how the Zxa1s work...I'd prefer to buy one good zxa instead of the Behringer 1200 that everyone's using. But I really don't understand what's going on with 100hz bit! Would it be possible for you to try going inot the SS first then out to the zxa and see what that sounds like...... and then into the zxa and out to the SS ( which I think would be the best way to protect your 8ins speaker..) and then report back on the forum to help others and myself and also Aspen about your findings...re is there a clear loss of gain when you go through the ZXa 1 first and the into the SS? It's a bit cheeky to ask this of you, but it really would be v v helpful... Regards Niven8.
  9. Sorry I meant does steal as much gain from above the 100hz crossover point! Niven.
  10. Hi, I'm thinking of getting the EV ZXA1sub..could someone help me by pointing out the disadvantages of buying this instead of the Behringer? I already have two sx300s..they sound great to my ears but I love the idea of piling the SS on top of a sub because of the small stage foot print. And I think the quality of the EV speaker should be superior...don't quite understand the crossover bit....won't the EV 100hz crossover do the job? Perhaps it does'nt chop as many frequencies from above the crossover point as the less expensive Behringer. Regards Niven
  11. Hi Aspen, Just wondering how things are going with shipments to Europe, namely Thomann.de? I placed an order last week and they have posted the earliest delivery date to be in July. I've noticed that they've used the same date for many of their products......is there any chance yours could be earlier? Oh, and by the way, they've got the SS under Aspen products?..Not such a good idea if you're searching for Spacestation? I had to phone up and ask if they were marketing it,otherwise I wouldn't have been able to find it. Regards Niven8
  12. Hi, Finally decided to take the plunge! I actually went through every page....read everything before deciding. This forum has been fantastic. I would never normally buy something without actually hearing it....Not a very good idea! However the breadth of opinion...and for the most part the sensible comments re how it performs in real life situations has helped....no...convinced me to get one. Everyone's taste differs...(thank God!) but having listened to some comments made by people and having checked their websites for the quality of their playing and composition....I think I can relie on their "ears"! Now there's the wait! Here's hoping! Regards Niven8
