  1. Just got the 1000 yesterday. Some quick impressions: The Negative: --the underside of the keys is a little rough on the fingers. --the maximum volume is no way near loud enough for "a small club" as some reviews claim --the inability to create presets is odd and inconvenient. --no way to wirelessly connect your IDevice and Chordana. Have to go buy a USB to lightning adapter. --Hammond organ sounds are only adequate, and would vendors stop dumping pipe organs into these boards - no one uses them The Positive: --it sure is pretty (I have the white one) --hammer action is good and responsive --acoustic piano sounds great --easy to carry around --only 18 sounds means you have to actually play keyboard, not be a special effects machine for your band Conclusion: I bought the cheaper model because I didn't want 700 different bleeps and blurps (I have a Nord for that purpose). I also wanted hammer action for a good price. This is a great board for practicing, playing in a small combo, or performing as a lounge act. It's not enough to carry a full rock band on its own - you would need better organs - but it's a great addition to your stack if you don't want to spend the $$$ for a CP-40 just for the acoustic piano. The white is a nice option and you can channel your inner Liberace.
  2. On the other hand, maybe I DID miss something! https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/software/0/755/4078/
  3. That's just my speculation, based on the fact that there is no software or interface built-in to the Vox Continental to install an update. Unless I'm missing something. Crumar has you put a file on a flash drive and plug it into the board. Then you log into the board itself on its own wireless network to load the update. Vox has no such functionality in their Continental. Nord and the SV-1 have computer software that read your board through a USB connection - and you can make all sorts of adjustments and updates that way. Again, nothing like that for Vox - unless it's coming, but I think it would be here by now.
  4. I've had it for awhile and here are some random thoughts: --Build quality is generally good. The power adapter connection unfortunately is one of those flimsy ones that you feel could break at any time. The Crumar Mojo has the same problem. This is probably my biggest "touring" concern. --The keyboard seems solid. It's better than the Electro, feels a little more weighted, although I'm sure it isn't. The board itself is super light. --The Organs are all fine and suitable for live performance. The EPs - not as good as the SV-1 but this maybe because of that board's weighted keyboard. The acoustic pianos are ok, not as good as Nord's but serviceable. The big key/layer section has lots to choose from, including a surprising amount of lead and synth sounds, plus lots of brass and even a few flutes. The strings are a little weak - no big M1 strings sound that would be nice. --There is no software interface. I suppose one isn't needed, since all you can configure are 16 presets ("scenes"), and Vox apparently isn't going to provide firmware or sound updates. This has to be one of the last boards that isn't going to have some kind of interaction with software. Even the SV-1 had one. I'm gigging with this board in about a month - that will be its premiere. I'm pleased with ease of use and the logical way the scenes are laid out - there's no digital screen but you don't really need one with just 16 presets (and that's plenty). Plus there are scads of built-in sounds to play with.
  5. First thoughts: this is a gigging board for players who don't want or use a stack of keyboards. I play both guitar and keys in our band so this board is perfect since it covers the big three (piano, Rhodes, B3) and has enough basic samples like strings and things should I need them. It's light and easy to set up. If I was only a keyboardist I'd likely bring along another board to supplement this one - it's not a total solution for a serious keyboardist. Not many boards are, especially in this price range. But it's a lot of fun and for sports bar-type performances, it's all you need.
  6. Yeah, I'll do what I can about the "bad bubble." I would rather NOT have to pack up the instrument and go through the shipping hassle because of one bad contact...esp one so low on the keybed. At this point I have a new one "on order" with Alto but if I'm able to resolve this without having to perform surgery I will.
  7. >The second "issue" of the high drawbar dropping off at the G - it is supposed to do that, it's called "foldback" < Thanks! You know I thought that might have been the case so I googled around but didn't find anything...likely my search terms weren't enough on the mark.
  8. I talked to Alto and they've been very good about it all - they said I can swap it for another once they get one in, and the meantime keep the current unit. They are also talking to Crumar about a possible fix. I sent them this video to show the issue: https://youtu.be/1w6FeJlYlhI
  9. > this type of scenario perhaps ties in with the Guitar Center Rental scam< Well, that's not my approach. I'm perfectly willing to have the unit diagnosed and serviced locally. I've emailed Alto and am waiting for their thoughts. Plus I'm not sure your "scam" holds water. I've returned open box stuff before for a refund or store credit - getting a "brand new" instrument instead was never offered by the vendor or expected by me.
  10. Thanks - someday I might crack it open and see if I can fix it. But right now I'm grooving on the board too much
  11. Thanks for the theory - yes that sounds correct to me. I'm not going to crack the case, I wouldn't have the slightest idea what I'm doing, and since this the first E on the keyboard, it's not total nuisance. I am using this for B3 and maybe some Rhodes - like the original poster I won't be playing the pipe or combo organs much, if at all. I did strike the key hard to see if I'd get anything - total silence.
  12. I tested with octave buttons and key is still dead. The wifi works although I need to be in the same room - it's a weak signal otherwise.
  13. Hi, I just bought an open box Mojo 61. Given the discount, I assumed there might be one or two things wrong with it. So far it looks and sounds great, and everything appears to be working as documented with ONE exception, and I want to get some opinions: The lowest E key does not sound for either the Pipe Organ or any of the four EPs (Tine, Reed, Clav, and Grand). It DOES sound for the B3 and the two Combo organs. All other keys work for every instrument, except for the first five for the Clav as expected. This is not a deal breaker since I principally bought this for the B3. It's just odd. Does this sound like something I could check in the online config? Also - is there a factory reset for the 61? I know there is for the dual model. Thanks, Eric Martin
