  2. I agree there is room for improvement in the visual design of keyboards intended for stage use. We all "listen with our eyes" to some extent, and a vintage Hammond console (especially the B3) has a certain elegance and gravitas that a generic-looking slab-on-a-stand (or even some chopped consoles) cannot match. Even if the sound is great, a dorky look can diminish the impact. Of course, some top-shelf clonewheels have optional deluxe stands that give a better look than the (often ill-fitting) generic keyboard stands that are commonly used, and for me, a stylish-looking, well-proportioned stand is well worth the little extra cost, weight, and hassle when the look matters.
  3. +1 I find that when I darken the room (or pull something over my eyes) and put on some pleasant music at a fairly low level -- just loud enough to hear the sound without straining, but not loud enough to keep my attention on the tune -- it masks other ambient sounds and settles my busy brain, and I usually drift off to sleep sooner or later.
  4. I have used Behringer 502, 802, and QX1002 mixers with my keyboards. I am currently using a Yamaha MG10XU, which sounds better.
  5. I would take more lessons, do more practice, and waste less time with projects that aren't going anywhere and people who aren't pulling their weight.
  6. The guitarists I know are more likely to buy (and sell) 40 guitars every two years.
  7. I'm not a power user, but I use Power Director, which is easy to use for simple clips but powerful enough for bigger projects also.
  8. I do not know of anyone who has a working version of Musicator. I find that MuseScore is easy to use and works well.
  9. When I contacted Mr Brodtkorb in 2009, he helped me to configure my audio driver and also answered my queries about using the program. Yes, as you note, a working download link for the latest version (v6) of the Musicator program can still be found in some old copies of the Musicator website on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. The program installs and opens OK on my PC (Windows 7). It requires the ASIO4ALL audio driver to be installed also. However, after a 14-day trial period, it requires a substantial payment to continue using it, and as support appears to be no longer available, I looked for alternatives and am now using MuseScore.
  10. In 2009, I contacted the developer of Musicator (Henrik Johannes Brodtkorb) at the address "henrik@musicator.com" with some technical queries, and he was very helpful. In 2016, I tried to contact him again at that address and also another address that I found on this webpage, "henrik.j.brodtkorb@uia.no", but I did not receive a reply. As I have not been able to get Musicator working on my current computer, I have not been able to use my old Musicator files, and I am now using the free program MuseScore.
  11. I have a couple of arrangements that I created many years ago in an early version of the Musicator notation program on an old PC that I no longer have. I want to print out the arrangements, and I tried to download the latest version of the program from their website, but neither the download link nor the contact link appears to be working (it appears that the developer may no longer be active). Musicator.net Is there a way to convert Musicator .mct files into .mid or another format that I can print out in another program, or is there anyone who has a working Musicator program and would be willing to print out the files (preferably to PDF) for me?
  12. I'm seeing the videos OK in Firefox (v48), but I'm seeing the black rectangle in Chrome (v52) and IE (11), even after clearing the cache (Windows 7).
  13. I remember going through something similar 10 years ago, when my first wife left unexpectedly after 24 years: I saw a couple of counsellors (by myself, because she refused to talk or listen to anyone) in the weeks and months that followed, hoping to find a way to save the marriage, and the thing that eventually stuck with me was when one of the counsellors said, "You keep talking about a relationship, but where is it?" For me, that was a pivotal "reality check", a mental and emotional turning point, at which I realized the marriage was over and began to move on with my life.
  14. Sounds a lot like what happened to me 10 years ago, after 24 years of marriage. What it may surprise you to discover, as it did me, is that it is not as uncommon as you may think. Of course, everybody's story is different, and only those concerned know the full details, but sometimes one partner just "goes off the rails" in some way for no good or apparent reason and refuses to listen to anybody, and in the end, there is nothing the other partner can do but stay civil, be there for the children if any, and move on. However, while scars may remain, wounds do heal in time, especially with support from family and friends. Although divorce was the last thing I ever expected or wanted, and I did everything I could to avoid it, 10 years later my new life with my new partner is better emotionally, intellectually, and financially than my first marriage ever was. Sometimes an old ruin becomes the foundation of a new mansion.
