  1. Second that. I have this one: https://www.soundcraft.com/en/products/notepad-12FX
  2. Korg Grandstage - has all Korg Pianos (Berlin, Italian, Austrian, etc), no fiddly touch screen, lighter, shorter, 30 seconds boot time, and cheaper.
  3. There is also a very underrated Korg Grandstage. You get a lot of Kronos functionality at lower price and weight.
  4. Yamaha MX88 has a USB in/out interface. A bit over your budget though. ($1000?)
  5. Doesn't sound weird to me at all - I prefer weighted keys for everything, including organ sounds, synth solos, strings, brass, clav, etc. In fact I sold all my non-weighted keyboards, no matter how good they were. Just can't get along with springs pushing back.
  6. Piano keys look like mini keys compared to her ... whatever.
  7. There are no quality issues with my MX88, it's constructed pretty well (like any Yamaha product) but the sounds are very basic (an "OK" piano, strings, brass, couple of synth sounds, but horrible Electric Pianos). Consider whether you'll want to use VST's in the future - the MX88 has a built-in USB Audio Interface, which makes it a pretty good controller . I mainly use mine as a controller for Scarbee Rhodes, which beats MODX Rhodes by a mile.
  8. Kronos has 9 sounds engines and I thing the GrandStage only has the piano engine of the Kronos. My buddy bought a GrandStage a few months before I got my RD-2000, he never plays the GrandStage it just sits. I've only seen a couple name players using one and in general seems people seems pretty meh about it. The Nautilus is Kronos with less controls, light case, screen isn't as good as Kronos for about 30% less than Kronos. GrandStage doesn't seem to have all the in's and out's of the Nautilus. I'd think I rather have the SV2 than the GrandStage at this point. Grandstage has 7 sound engines, plus some acuostic pianos not found in Kronos.
  9. The EPs are not the same as the SV1 - but not necessary worse, they are just different (the same as in Kronos and Vox). I actually prefer the Kronos/Grndstage/Vox EP's because they are modelled, so no sample switching and they are very responsive. Looks like the Grandstage model is being discontinued, with Nautilus taking it's place.
  10. "Smart Scale mode eliminates wrong notes" - this alone might be a good reason to buy it! Plus is has a power switch and comes with a USB cable
  11. Well, I wish we had your problems here in Canada. Our chances to get vaccinated this year are slim. Our government fucked up hard on vaccines.
