  1. Iconic? Okay I'll play: 1. Grand Piano 2. Hammond Organ 3. Accordion 3. Minimoog
  2. I don't think we can read that much into the stickers. What hardware is famously associated with ELP, Genesis, Camel, and Rush? Assuming it's not a Minimoog there isn't much else, or am I missing something? So I'm guessing it is something Prog familiar. They've already done Taurus Pedals. Maybe a mellotron? or... a B3 ?
  3. Nord nailed the controller config, in my opinion. I wish they release an affordable 88 key controller with Poly-AT.
  4. Why the hate on A-Ha? They write/wrote great songs and the music is a cut above your average pop. Good stuff.
  5. Do you need some kind of MIDI merge in order to use a supplementary controller like the Nanocontrol (or similar) with an existing keyboard?
  6. >> The previous owner replaced the display with a nice blue one, but for some of the sections some strange characters appear. Could it be a lithium battery problem or something related with the display replacement? I don't think it is a battery problem. It might be a connection problem. I recommend opening her up and re-seating all the connectors with some de-oxit or contact cleaner. If the display still malfunctions then I'd have to suggest replacing it, so that you have confidence in the replacement part and the installation process. Again, I've written about that process.
  7. Well, I have first-hand experience given that I wrote those posts. If you don't care about aftertouch, you can experiment with a little more freedom. You can disconnect the ribbon cable at the side and free yourself from the worry about damaging the carbon pads on the circuit board under the keys. >> Some keys seem to travel deeper and making a louder and very dry release noise (comparing to the other keys) especially the middle octaves I don't know what a dry release noise is, but it could be A) lack of lubricant in the key hinge (where the springs are). If I recall correctly, a small amount of spray silicone lube in that area might help. Try with one or two keys first and let them play out for a while to see how they feel over time (this advice would apply to any change in lube you trial). B) the up-felt has firmed up so that the key return hits a hard surface instead of a soft one. Replace the up-felt string. I wrote about this. It is also possible that the plastic grey guide posts are dry and need some grease. I used a small amount of white lithium grease but also trimmed one of the guide posts to eliminate a point of friction. I wrote about that. With respect to the key travel, yes, it is most likely the key down-felt is worn. I had some trouble replacing this. As a first step, I would switch the down-felt string in the center keys with one of the strips from the bass or treble side. Probably the treble side is less worn. See how that affects the action/feel. If you're keen, then you can replace the entire key-down felt strip. In my experience, the brand-new felt strip plus the pressure sensors resulted in the keys not triggering reliably - the stop point was too high! That's why I recommend removing the old felt strips CAREFULLY and retaining them in case you want to put them back. You could also try using the old up-felt as the new down-felt because the up-felt doesn't have the same tolerance limitation. I hope that helps. The A-80 has a wonderful action, when refurbished.
  8. You mean, the VAX77 from Infinite Response? I know it doesn't have the onboard sounds but other than that, ticks the boxes. Yeah, they went bankrupt.
  9. Jeez. There is absolutely no creative output from these guys that could pass your judgement. Feel free not to listen.
  10. I owned a Jupiter-6 back in the day and it is one of the few pieces of hardware that I truly regret selling. I will almost certainly pick this up for nostalgia's sake. Also, it is very nice because it does what it does very well.
  11. It's about a car, a Citroën DS21, that had an innovative hydropneumatic suspension mechanism.
  12. Cool article - I'm surprised I haven't read it before. Thanks.
