Speaking of price , the 273 @ $5300 and the smaller 261 @$3990 plus applicable tax. Essentially close to $6k for the full size one. I’m not going to comment on whether this is high or low …. You decide ! Makes me feel a bit better about ordering the OBX8 😉

Put my pre order in last week at Alto music. I don’t need it , but I want it badly. I had a decent chunk of Alto bucks combined with free shipping and no tax , not a bad deal. I swear this is my last big purchase…………🤣 Might consider selling my prophet 6 to help pay for it.

Definitely wets my appetite , you have to admit it sounds pretty darn good with a ton of possibilities. Who cares how the sound is made weather its full analog or digital chips or whatever. I have a great sounding 106 already , a JX10 vecoven and a prophet 5/4 , so I’m not interested in this right now. My confusion is what’s the difference between this and the jupiter X other than asthetics ?

Unji has done a good demo of the legend. I brought the seven about a month or two before the legend got announced. I still think the Rhodes sounds fantastic in the seven , but those bright rotary encoded knobs drive me crazy. Also the AP sounds are not great . In hindsight I would have brought the legend if I was to choose between the two. Just a lot more to offer while still maintaining the retro feel.

First synth was a SH 101 , learnt a lot by sitting there for hours upon hours trying to emulate sounds . Hated that it was monophonic but I learnt a ton on that little thing. My next one was a Juno 60 , loved that thing and still regret selling it for a dx 7 , which I never grasped programing . Compared to what's aroung now, very basic , but my 60 for me was the game changer. I just recently got the new prophet 5 rev 4 , maybe that will change things up thesedays. I guess technically, the true game changer for me to this day is the Hammond B3 , the very first synthesizer .

Just make sure everything is plugged in before powering up 1147 and turning on the xk5 . You can blow the opamp in the 1147 by pugging into the organ when its already powered on. BTW, if somebody else already did this, the opamp is replaceable, pretty easy fix if you can solder. Symptoms of this is the leslie works , speed etc, but no sound. Also if its low on volume, there is a gain adjustment on the 1147 , just dial it up with a jewlers screwdriver.

Re leslie sim - , from what I"m led to believe , the first video was recorded using the new 142 , hence the ' room ' sound. So there"s the new 142 close by too. Food for thought. I"m really hoping they release a dual manual version of this , then I"m onboard. I miss the sk2 I sold for its all in one quick setup board.

I also got the first dose yesterday. Im a full time firefighter. I got the Moderna shot , with the 2nd shot in 28 days. Initially after about 15-20 minutes I did feel a little lightheaded, and a little nausea after about 30 minutes but both very mild. The only thing I"m still experiencing is arm pain at the site , like someone punched you in the arm but its not too bad. I guess we"ll see if anything else happens but I"m not worried. I really hope the majority of people get vaccinated, I cant take much more of this crap , seeing people die almost every shift from this is taking a toll on me For the doubters and deniers , its very very real.

Hi Dazza , I doubt you would be able to pull off that classic Herbie tone from a VV. A cpl cats in Chicago use a VV , its somewhere between a Rhodes and a Wurli tone. Im personally not a fan of the tone but thats my preference , still a great instrument. I think you would have more success tweaking a vst or your cp4 running through some effects. From what I know about the headhunter recordings , as others said its straight off the pickups to a DI , then put through a compressor and tube preamp. Its also miced from the suitcase speakers and both tones were mixed together. I got this info from Paul Jackson when I played with him in NYC He didnt know what exactly was used but he definitely said in studio was off the harp and miced from speakers. .

"THE " board I play almost everyday .....63 cherry B3 My live rig is either a Legend live with 142 or a Crumar Seven with Legend solo. Crumar is inspiring to play , Rhodes , wurli and clav great, AP not so much .

I still cant see any reason why they wouldnt include an 11 pin out on the production models, especially the classic. If its MAP is $299 , I would go for the booker labs breakout box , more options , 6 pin out for both 122 and 147 and an 11 pin out. I know that version is more expensive , but it covers everything. The good thing about the viscount legend line , and the xk5 , is you can run a leslie off the 11 pin , and send the internal leslie sim to the main outs. I do this often , leslie on stage, main outs to FOH . This would not work to be able to do that. Goes back to the original thought, why they didnt include an 11 pin out in the first place boggles me...

I wonder if that clacky sound can be edited ? Im sure there must be a hammer hardness parameter in the editor. Of course they release this right after I splurge on a crumar seven. I really like the sound and vibe of the seven , but those endless decoder knobs are getting to me. Im very interested in the legend , the module concept but so far I"m not hearing anything that would make me want one over the seven. No info on MAP , keybed used and very little demos properly recorded. There is a clip of Joey D playing AP that is great but recorded on a phone at Namm.

Something new from H/S at Namm. Not sure if its a completely built unit or just a different style case/stand that you can add an xk5 to. Dosnt really look portable , kind of similar to the Legend Classic.
