  1. Point well taken, Old No7! Thanks everyone for your input! Much appreciated. I 'll play around with the Vent some more...
  2. Anyone tried the Behringer to get that tube sound? I have a Roland VR 09 and Vent 2. Miss my ol Leslie 145...
  3. Pretty Cool! I'm still waiting for a re vamping of the old Roland VP 9000, where I could sample a vocal line (real voice) and manipulate it real time or time stretch, pitch shift it, etc.. Combine that with a keyboard and I'm buying!!
  4. "Am I performing with a face mask?" Nope, this is how I really look... (sorry, couldn't help myself)
  5. Hey (Another) Scott, I'm thinking of purchasing the PC 4 7 from MassMusik, as I see you did. Are they are a 'brick and motar' building, i.e. an actual store I can visit? The address seems to refer to a house in a residential neighborhood in a town in Wisconsin.
  6. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida........Iron Butterfly .... 'nuff said
  7. Our church would like to mic the congregation as they sing along with our worship band. We are looking at using 2 shotgun mics (Audio Technica AT 875R) placed onstage looking out, or 2 choir mics (Shure CVO-B/C) placed above first few rows .. Any one have experience with this situation or suggestions? Church is about 125' long by 40 wide. Stage is about 20' from first row.. Thanks for any help with this...
  8. First synth: Arp Odyssey.. ended up separating the key bed from the body and wore the keys with a strap inspired by Edgar Winter doing likewise with a full keyboard.. First synth that I used the most: Juno 106..sold it, bought another in the late eighties.. First synth that was a game changer? Ensoniq Mirage..when I heard that piano and horns and my voice and whatever I sampled, being played on that board, I was blown away..sold it eventually and bought a rack unit..
  9. -That's where this all started for me. I had the first version of the Vent with a Roland VR 09 and it sounded great. Long story short, got rid of both, bought the Nord 6 and after a while, I wasn't exactly happy with the onboard rotary, so I bought the Vent V 2. It still doesn't seem as good to me as my VR 09/ Vent 1 compo...the distortion in either the Nord alone or the Vent 2, or in combination seems to be lacking what I had before... But I'm getting old, ears are probably gone
  10. Wow, thanks guys! A lot of good information here. ..hadn't realized that placing something after the rotary wouldn't sound so hot...good to know...
  11. Hey there everyone, I'm trying to find a preamp or pedal that will add tube-like distortion to the organ programs while using the rotary effect. For example - that sound that is present in Steve Winwoods riff in Gimme Some Lovin'...You know, the sound that seems like the leslie tubes are about to explode? Back in the day, my 147 could be wonderfully overdriven and made any clone sound awesome. Currently not using a Vent, although I had one, but even with the Vent I wasn't able to get what I 'm looking for. Any suggestions?
  12. Thanks everyone for your replies.. A little more background info, although I think I've made up my mind already, thanks to everyone's comments. The setting I'm now in is a church, so there is no set up and tear down, which is nice, but I still don't enjoy looking at stacks of DI boxes all around my feet I'm coming from a bar band background where I used my own mixers or amps for years, (50+ years, but who's counting), with no complaints. The sound man we currently have is a college student (volunteer of course), who says he has background experience in sound mixing, so I let it go at that. Our previous sound man, who runs his own production rental company, was actually the one who said he needed control over all keyboards separately, and persuaded me to go the route I'm on. Another issue I have with this current set up is my monitor mix (including some vocals, some drums, etc.) is constantly changing and mid-song. My keys are there, then they're gone. I have control over that through my I pad, but needless to say, when I playing 4 or 5 songs one after another, it's a little difficult to change up the mix. So ya, I think I'll go the mixer or Key Largo route and have a little more control over things. Thank you again, everyone.
  13. I have used a Eurorack Pro mixer in the past to route my 3 keyboards to our board via a stagebox. I had no issues with it, but our soundman wanted me to run six DI boxes instead, in which I've done. Of course this setup gives him more control over each individual keyboard, but I had no complaints about my mixing of my own keys in regards to balance, sound, etc.. My stage area now is a mess with all the cables and DI boxes all over the place. I am also interested in purchasing the Radial Key Largo that would clean up my setup as well. My question is: Is it better to use six DI's or one keyboard mixer setup? And if so, for whom is it better? And I guess, the begs the question: define 'better'.... thanks.
  14. I use one EV ZXA1 as a personal monitor. Had it for about 5 years. No issues..
  15. Hey Paul, never heard of the Behringer VC340, so I looked it up and watched Daniel Fisher demo it. Wow, no wonder you're avatar is Clockwork Orange! Aside from vocoding, that thing can sound like Wendy Carlos's soundtrack work!
