  1. I imagine you already ruled it out but are you sure it's not just the external power supply (or connection)?
  2. It's on YouTube music. It's all a losing game but YouTube Premium is the ONLY service one will ever need. Dump all the rest, it has 'everything' ad-free. F*** Spotify btw. Limited garbage feeding off folks who don't know any better.
  3. MK2 (barely used). No no, this sucker is slooow (keybed, key return). Can make do but a spring change would be great.
  4. Side question: Arturia Keylab 61 Is anyone finding this keybed to be the slowest of the controllers and is there a spring size to possibly help speed it up? example: stuttering notes with faux Hammond sound, etc - rough when the key doesn't come back quicker.
  5. Yep. Prefer a 15 for faux full organ, synths and like. Not necessary for ac digi-piano. Doesn't have to get muddy. Still lifting a B3 around, a speaker with a 15 is a pleasure!
  6. I totally dig EV, it's just that an 8in for all in band to hear might be asking a lot and a 12in+ benefits other keys/sounds. And for a just a bit more he can get two of the 23lb 700w Yamaha DBR10 for stereo when desired. Maybe not quite EV but they make a good product. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DBR10Pair--yamaha-dbr10-700w-10-inch-powered-speaker-pair
  7. Certainly is light. 8 inch. I just think it's good to plan for (at least) a 12in minimum for keys players (15in preferred). I guess it depends on the usage and stage though. Is this strictly for digi piano?
  8. The D50 and DX7 haven't been hyped? Hmmm... Well... They aren't bad boards but they've definitely been given lip service. I've laid ears and hands on a Prophet 5 (that wasn't even working that well) through some outboard and it was a visceral experience. You have to know what you're listening for but point is today's hot new hardware and software isn't touching it. It was definitely 'a thing', well beyond 'a patch'. Same would/should go for the minimoog. Usage is the unknown here in this list. If he has issue with today's 'pricing of' that's different (and he can get in line like all others).
  9. The interviewer is serviceable but the subject is IMMENSE so yes! He seems like an absolutely killer human being, only equaled or better by his musicianship.
  10. One synth... THEM'S FIGHTIN WORDS!! But I can relay it's true what was said long ago about the SQ80 being a desert island synth (and no, I'm not talking about Synth Wizards who borrowed those words but they saw it similar as well). A good old, get it done, digi-analog board with a small but musical/get it done sequencer thrown in = fun. I am on the hunt to get a DV-800 back though. So sad that disappeared long ago.
  11. And again, or check the Behringer KXD15 (the performance and guts of the usual powered PA speaker but in amp format with 4-channel stereo inputs, stereo direct out, and FX). Chain 2 of them with a single cable for true stereo (which sounded great btw). 50lbs though. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/KXD15--behringer-ultratone-kxd15-600w-15-inch-keyboard-amp
  12. Your problem is wanting enough power for a band to hear on stage at the desired 20lbs weight. Iow, yer asking too much. Also, yeah Roland KBs are ...not great (at all). Just try out the usual 10 to 12in powered speakers in your weight class (and yeah, best to get two). Perhaps this 700w Yamaha at 23lbs for example. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DBR10--yamaha-dbr10-700w-10-inch-powered-speaker
  13. This kind of goes hand in hand with the saying they don't make things like they used to. Just a guess as I'd like to know myself but very likely it's the type of plastics used today. Best to keep newer keys out of direct sunlight. You could spend time whitening them but 9x out of 10 it just comes back. I say leave it be. But concern of resale on an the Keylab 61 MKII? I just picked one up for $80 barely used (I like it btw, it does what it should do but resale value isn't foremost). Key feel somewhere equal to a smidge above a Roland VR09 (definitely not exciting feel). Sliders a bit flimsy but all other controllers quite decent. Good size and weight while retaining (some) visual appeal. Better quality than maudio and Novation IMHO. It also solidifies another point, essentially keyboardists now have a choice between plastic crap and more expensive plastic crap (there's some good among the sizeable bad in regard).
