  1. I don't see any MAG going to distributors or resellers soon (or maybe ever) for some reason... the first (but not the only) one is the long waiting list.. Anyway the first MAG (a C-2) crossing the pond to the USA went to Portland 🙂 later on the client bought a C-1 too and without going to check my files, there should be one or 2 more in the area. In the lower West costs (CA) there are some more organs
  2. For now yes, if you go to test the 3.6, be sure to check the 3 B-3 organ models, the major differences among them are in the C/V settings. and don't forget to tame a bit down the 2 params for the key-click if you like the MAG Sound ...
  3. mrk7421, I'm sure Michael from MA will help you with every HX3-related point you might have. I'm already in touch with him. About mk4 ( 3.4) C/V settings if you reload the stock parameters as somebody else already suggested you will come pretty close to the MAG settings used at that time. Compared to the latest version of the 3.5 SW don't expect to hear any significant variation in the sound of the 3.6 (assuming the 2 HX3 boards have identical settings) the switchover has been more related to the availability of a newer chip generation than to the need to introduce something that couldn't be implemented in the latest 3.5 SW Good luck with your upgrade Max

  5. Hi Guys, Max from MAG Organs here, Yes it's right the website has been down for a long time ... and the "ball" is on my side of the pitch. I have to review/write a couple of pages of text, but I must say that thanks to the good word of mouth spread around my MAG clients the order intake remains very strong., and time is always short... so the priorities are others in these hours. There will indeed be some news in the product line with a new compact and light single keyboard model (and not only ,... 🙂) so in the next weeks the website will be again up and running. About the C/V settings, I don't remember if at the time I delivered the organ to Darren, I used to tweak the settings, recently (late HX3.5 and HX3.6) I simply keep the stock settings that are pretty much close to my reference mint A-100. Of course, if you have an Mk4 module you might consider that with the 3.5 and 3.6 some significant improvements were introduced in that area of chorus/vibrato, so it might be not possible to replicate the sound of the latest models. On the other hand, while the MAGs are based on the wonderful sound engine designed and produced by the true genius of Carsten Meyer of keyboardpartner.de they have a proprietary Extension board that integrates an analog section where the organ signal is treated for offering the Volume Normal/Soft tab, the analog volume control, the high-quality reverb module dedicated to the reproduction of the physical springs, the Effect Loop, before being sent to the separate rotary emulation board (for now still the vent, but... stay tuned ... :-)) which will finally balance the output L+R signals. In other words (as much as some contributors of other forums and/or FB groups keep considering MAGs just an HX3 with keyboard(s)) you can make a MAG sound like the other HX3-based modules/organs but the opposite is not true ... 🙂 If there are some other questions I'd happily reply. Time doesn't allow me to monitor diligently as I should do this forum, but for a while, I'll be hanging on here. Max
  6. Al, the Effect Loop is placed before the internal reverb and the Vent, and it's not available on the HX3 rotary signal since there is no return path for an analog signal to the HX3 board. The reverb is on a separate module on the MAG proprietary Extension Board which in its latest version, through an internal switch, allows to assign the reverb to the rotary outs (multipin fot Leslie(s) and Vent) or to the Organ Direct jack, in this case with an additional mixer channel or a small amp you can emulate the RV Series Leslies that have the reverb on a stationary speaker Max
  7. Moe, the Fatar TP/8O has 2 series of bubble contacts and you can select via the free Editor SW, the external programmer or the iOS app. if you want to trigger the sounds from the higher or the lower contact. The P-2 demo unit I have in the lab at the time is set to trigger from the higher contact and triggers at around 3.5.3.6 mm of travel measured as close as possible to the end of the key. The front rails of the reference A-100 are set to the lower position in order to reduce to the minimum the key dip and, with a much wider range of variations, the keys start triggering at exactly the same point Setting the rails to the highest position would increase the key dip of at least 1.5 mm If you have other questions/doubts, please feel free to ask. 8. HI guys, Max from MAG Organs here... first of all thanks for the nice words many of you spent on my work :-) Without reciting a sales pitch,(that I'd consider inappropriate here, as well in many other places ... :-)) I'd like to pass you some basic information that this much-appreciated community seems to be missing ... Without any precise order: Tom Tuson of Diversi decided to enjoy some quieter time in warm Arizona slowing down his business. We keep having an excellent relationship (or better friendship) and he'll be glad to provide all the local support needed to MAG Organs in the USA and Canada. The sales to the USA, as to the rest of the world, are handled directly from Praha (Czech Republic - EU) and some -hopefully small- efforts will tell the potentially interested players how ... And no, it's not possible to buy a MAG through Thomann, nor any other large or small retailer... :-) MAG's use the HX3 and the Vent DSP technology and I love both (I have many reasons for that, but as promised I'll stop here ...) between the 2 digital boards there is a piece of analog circuitry of proprietary MAG design that carries on some (to me) relevant functions like the Volume Normal/Soft, an Analog Volume control not affected by the significant "stepping" of the digital one and a proprietary, high-quality reproduction of the traditional spring reverbs used in the A-100, and other old aftermarket kits often found on B-3's). The analog "carrier" board for the ventilator has a different proprietary output balanced circuitry. All these features (and the sound modifications they introduce) are not available on any other HX3 based solution and contribute to the MAG's own sound signature. Darren (dazjazz) is totally right... unfortunately at that time, I just sold my previous demo P-2, so I lent him a brand new unit and the keybeds were of course not in their ideal condition... As many know the Fatar TP/8O's need some burn-in to reach their design "weight", . For those willing to hear my test results and opinion (and won't fall asleep after the first line :-)) I made some pretty accurate tests between a P-2 professionally used for some gigs and the pristine "auntie Marie" A-100 that I keep in the lab as a reference. I'll talk in relative terms since to the best of my knowledge, doesn't exist any accepted standard for measuring the "weight" of the keybeds and different procedures can bring substantially different results; as a side "effect" I suggest you consider "cum granu salis" any statement you'd possibly find where weights (or forces, that would be more correct from physics viewpoint ...) are given. After this boring introduction, my results were that IN CORRESPONDENT ZONES of the keybed, the differences between the Fatar and the vintage keybeds remained below 5% (on average around 3%). Curiously enough higher differences were measured in different areas or the same keybed in all 4 units tested. That said my personal opinion, once more in line with the one of Darren, is that the standard springs after the burn-in offer the most accurate reproduction of an excellent/pristine condition vintage console. This of course won't eliminate all the limitations introduced by the totally different design principles and geometry between the modern and vintage keybeds. It's also true that some players are used to some beaten-up consoles with lighter keybeds so MAG can offer lighter springs to satisfy these needs... :-) I hope I was able to remain within fair limits, if not please let me know and I'll amend my post. On the other hand, if someone has other specific questions, please feel free to ask and I will gladly reply ... As you probably already noted I love talking about my "babies" ROFL Max
  9. Sorry for the long time it took... I did some calculations comparing the Maggie (48 x 53.3 x 80 cm 33.5 kg) to a vintage 122/147 and the latter has 49% larger footprint, 97% bigger volume, and 84% heavier weight... same calculation against the current 3300 bring to 28% larger footprint, 42% bigger volume and 63% heavier weight Hope this will help with your considerations If I won't be able to post again before the coming holidays I wish to all this great community a Merry Xmas and a prosperous 2020 !!!
  10. Thank you all guys for your nice words and in the interest in what we'redoing :-) Agan time for some answers: Darren: I opened an FB account just 5 years ago and I use it strictly for business, which these days seem to be a must, but I have to admit I'm a total disaster with it. I'll ask a friend who is a million times better than me what to do for giving you access to Brian's video. pleas bear with me 1-2 days jimkost2002:. All our organs are equipped with multi-voltage power supplies and through a standard IEC (computer) cable can be connected to any socket in the world Delaware Dave: Diversi still is the business partner of MAG Keyboards in the U.S.A. but we agreed with Tom that the organs will be delivered directly from the Czech Republic (as BTW happened already several times before), nothing to do with the contribution from Tom to this forum, which I suppose will go ahead as before LX88: I'm writing this some hours after reading your last post and still can\t see anything from you, I don't have a clue why, but you can email me directly here: max@magorgans.com, like anybody else who may have some specific questions. M.
  11. Definitely no subwoofer cedar, Actually the speaker has an integrated DSP which in the prototype played by Brian was used just as electronic crossover and just very slightly limiting the response on both low and high end. Matching low and mid-frequency drivers required a lot of work (more than 100 simulations made) but paid its dividends, or at least it seems so talking with the first testers :-) Using properly matched speakers in a correctly dimensioned cabinet can offer nowadays a truckload of bass tones. bear in mind that organs don't go extremely low in the frequency and the vintage rotary speakers have their own sound signature which is pretty limited compared to what a modern subwoofer can do. In other words, IMHO a subwoofer is NOT the correct way to amplify the lower octave of a drawbar organ ... :-) Tom Tuson of Diversi decided to move to the warm AZ and slowed down a bit his activities, so we agreed that the sales will be carried on directly from Prague (CZ) as BTW happened most of the times anyway for several reasons. He will, of course, keep offering local support and service for MAG products. So the Maggie will be sold directly from CZ with the usual "well-oiled" procedure. I'm working with the wood workshop on some minor amendments to the first 3 preseries boxes and on Friday I'll mount the first preseries prototype which will be used for the official presentation. I'll start then collecting pre-orders for expected delivery in the usual 8 weeks (approximately ... :-)) , with the goal of speeding up the manufacturing and having in spring the Maggie ready for delivery from stock. The price will be determined in the next days, with most probably an "early-bird" policy for the first lot ... :-)
  12. LX 88, I have the feeling your information is not updated... since about 15 months the 3.5 version of the HX3 board is available running the 5.XXX SW. It's a brand new HW board that, while keeping a form factor and connection layout identical to the previous series, is based on way more powerful chipset and offers a load of additional features. Nothing which can push the B-3 purist to feel ":underpowered", the additional features are more aimed to the people willing to explore with different organ sound generators (H-100, M-Series, frequency divider electronic organs and so on) In addition to that some so-called Extra sounds are available (even though the current quality is nothing to let you write home... but new sounds should be soon or later available), The previous version of SW 4.25 received some minor updates some weeks after that release of the new HW (curiously retaining the version index to the best of my knowledge) and then quite understandably no further development work has been done on it. I frankly speaking received only enthusiastic comments from my clients (most of which owned/played extensively any other organ on the market including the one you play) about the authenticity of the V/C but your opinion is, of course, sovereign. If you feel like asking something about my settings, feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help you finding your sweet spot.
  13. Hi All, Max from MAG Organs here, first of all big thanks Darren for your kind words about your experience with the MAG P-2 you played here in the Czech Republic, You are an incredibly talented player as well as a great person. I'm really happy I overcame the initial doubts I had lending an organ to a player who is doing business with a competitor, You handled the matter in the most correct way proving you're not only an extraordinarily talented player but a great person too. I'm just glad we had the chance to meet. That said, I think it may be useful for the forum's member shedding some light on MAG products since It seems there are some unanswered questions about them. All MAG organs are based on the great HX3 sound engine developed by the real genius of Carsten Meyer of keyboardpartner associated to a MAG proprietary extension board which features exclusive spring reverb emulation (the HX3 reverb remains dedicated to the extra sounds) and some analog circuitry for carrying on the Volume Normal /Soft function with its specific equalization and the Analog Organ Volume which is free from any digital zippering noise. In any case, where the use of rotary speaker emulation is foreseen (maybe 90-95%) this is carried on by a Ventilator fully integrated into the organ through the MAG proprietary analog board which offers the balanced L+R outs. About the speaker played by Brian last week, it was the first prototype of the soon to be released Maggie Organ speaker which has been optimized for working in association with the onboard ventilator. The main specs are 15" woofer, 2x 5" high-efficiency mids, driven respectively by a 300W RMS and 2x 150 W RMS class D amps Weight 32 kg. official pictures and more detailed information will be released in a week or so We didn't have so much time to talk with Brian before and after the gig about the rig he was playing and this may be the reason he posted some different into :-) Hoping this helped to clarify some doubts Happy music Max
  14. Hi everyone! Max from MAG Custom Organs here. It's my first post to be forum, hope to respect the guidelines in full. First of all thanks to Melodious Thunk for discovering my instruments and bringing them to attention in this extremely qualified community, thanks to all the others contributors who wrote their comments and thanks even more to Pietro for putting in writing his first impressions playing the MAG C-2. I heard them live last week but reading them here in a public forum gave me some great vibs so to say :-) Pietro you're a great player and extremely gifted in writing !!! A guy who contacted me for some info wrote me that some people here may be interested in having more info on my instruments. I won't obviously discuss anything commercial here, but if you have any other question let me know. I have also some pictures which (if allowed) I'll be glad to share. That's all for the moment, keep those tonewheels (mechanical and/or digital :-)) spinning. Ciao Max
