  1. The same team has a micro Q option, although I understand it’s a pretty different beast than the Q, which is something they’d like to be able to run as well … along with the Novation Supernova and old Nord stuff! Some addenda: - I was wrong about the CPU hit. The DSP emulator does chew up a thread pretty heartily. - There’s legal gray area around use of ROMs, so interested parties should tread carefully.
  2. For the curious, I tried the DSP emulator over the weekend. It’s what you’d expect: it is exactly the same sound, because it’s Virus firmware, and I have the real thing to compare to! As for specs, I’m running Win 11 on a 13th gen Intel. Barely hits the CPU. Incredible!
  3. oh I have no illusions about the fact that I’m the product. User data, eyeballs for ads, etc.
  4. I don’t know about you guys, but I pay exactly zero dollars for YouTube, and I get what I pay for. The only thing I lose is time, and I get the occasional nugget of wisdom or knowledge. I do not demand an outcome, because … zero dollars. And if the experience is triggering the bad brain juices, I close my browser. As for RB, he reminds me of my musician friends from my high school and college days who would clue me into various bands. He’s the “you gotta check this out!” guy. It seems the real pant-wadding thing here is that he’s a professional YouTuber. Doesn’t that require you to embrace crass, engagement-is-everything, slave-to-the-algorithm hucksterism while also promoting your membership/Patreon side hustle, to have even a shot a paying the mortgage? Eesh, that gig would just feel effing awful and weird to me.
  5. Very cool. Not to derail … but what is to the right of it?
  6. Knower Rulez. And Louis Cole’s solo stuff has some quirky cool bits.
  7. I’ve got the TI2 desktop, and I’m not letting it go. These guys https://dsp56300.wordpress.com are doing the Motorola DSP in software, so a 100% accurate Virus VST is possible. Access would just have to agree to release the ROM.
  8. That is a crazy good deal. Well played. I like mine. The user “interface”—such that it is—makes this board less fun, but for me it’s a nice-enough board.
  9. +1 on Kawai and anything with a TP40L. I find the RH3 too heavy as well
  10. poserp… a name I have not heard in a long time. A long time. 😀 I see what you’re saying. That’s … a pretty great idea actually. But I was told there would be no math.
  11. Yes I’d say that’s the intention, as there is reference to Setlists and Scenes in the product. L I haven’t played with setlists yet. If they don’t support seamless switching and instant patch loading, I’m not sure it’s worth pursuing. Haven’t RTFM yet
  12. I’ve installed it. It runs as a standalone app that offers some MIDI control of mappable macros. Not sure about program changes. It will host whatever cloud instruments you have installed. It doesn’t include anything by itself except effects. Has a couple of inserts and sends on each channel. I’ve got Win 11 on an i7 13xxx and Galaxias runs ok. The cloud instruments are pretty hungry as it is, so it depends on what you plugged in. There’s no compelling reason for me to use it since I have Gig Performer, and for me Galaxias is not a substitute for a live VST host. There are some fun presets that could spark some layer ideas with the different cloud instruments. It’s kind of a weird idea, but I guess if you have Cloud and no other host (why???), it could be useful.
  13. No joke… my favorite by many miles. Meanwhile this Kurz has me VERY intrigued. I do wish DAW control was a bit more slick so I could have one board to rule them all. If they could just make the transport controls send CC, that would be something.
  14. If this is a K2700 derivative, I’d expect to see the drum kits from the Kore64 expansion in this board, and they are pretty punchy. You can go nuts loading your own samples. I wouldn’t expect to see loop warping/time-stretching. As for drum sequencing, I expect no significant innovations there beyond the existing sequencer stuff. It’s not going to be a modern DAW-like experience, but you can always import MIDI from another tool.
  15. I’m one of PC3 users who liked the action after a few months of playing (and possibly breaking it in). As my only gigging board for a long time, I was happy to have something relatively lightweight that allowed me to dig in or go light and fast. I do remember that choosing the right velocity map was key to success. Anyway, I love the TP40L and am thrilled to see it on the 88 model.
